Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
Argh battlegoat is such a tease.
I have been checking this forum for any news since it was announced.
one thing is for sure that im buying it on steam
I enjoy the SR series alot, and that there is no doubt that there is alot of effort put into, these games.
there are not many games that actually cover the grand strategy genre, that i actually like
i do have a question about the strategic launch button thingy, is it coming back or?
please keep these series going strong! *pats the devs on the shoulder and gives a thumbs up*
P.S sorry for any bad english

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
It was one of the first topics I brought up when we began discussions for SRU. There won't be any changes to this for the launch of early access. Past that, can't say.

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
I'm mostly interested in internal/civilian politics in games like this. What I can do in these areas? Can I install policies, or just adjust budget sliders? I know that you build whole industry in 2020, but idk how is this in SR Ultimate.
Can't wait for this game
How many technologies will be available for research (not counting military designs) in this game?
Since its 1936 - 2070 from what I heard, then game will have 134 years of gameplay, then how many technologies will be here? 200? 300? Or something closer to 100?
I was playing masters of the world, but this game is buggy as hell - unfinished cosing and interference bugs.
Superpower 2 is 10 year old game, and nothing about its sequel is heard. So only you and your incompetent competition are making these games (geopolitical simulators of modern world)
Will be modern crisis like war on terror, global warming and peak resources (running out of oil and stuff) in game?

And is this not counting military designs? Then its >6 techs per yearBalthagor wrote:We're around 850. More details later...raxo2222 wrote:...Since its 1936 - 2070 from what I heard, then game will have 134 years of gameplay, then how many technologies will be here?...
I wonder if I can research them all by 2020, if I expand my economy aggressively since start.
How many military designs are here to research? Few thousands?
What year are last techs to research? 2070 year tech level?
Will be here actual tech tree to see them all?
OFFTOPIC: I remember mod for civilization IV having over 500 techs, but its time span is prehistory to galactic era, but its still unfinished, its like beta now.

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
For Ultimate, are you improving the performance again? I find that even in SR Cold war the longer I run the game the slower and slower it gets. The first few years go by quick, but by the time I hit the mid to late 60's the game is running very slow and years take all night of gameplay. Are you going to be making improvements so that it is feasible for a player to play through 10-20-30 years of gameplay?
I'm running a quad core 3.4 ghz 16 gb ram pc, so I dont think the slowdown is necessarily related to my PC.

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
game speed is still targeted around 4sec/day at the start and 8-12sec/day mid to late game. What speed are you getting?
No tech tree document available at this time. I have something terribly ugly and in very bad shape, some day I may get it cleaned up enough...

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
What are recommended requirements for the game? Will be it multithreaded? This game seems to be more CPU intense than GPU. Its not call of duty or GTA :p
My computer specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30 GHZ
RAM: 4GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 550Ti (1 GB of memory)
Hard drive: HDD 80 GB (That computer part wasn't upgraded during my computer upgrade spree in early 2013, it runs fine as is.)
System: Windows 7 Ultimate
My computer was custom-built.
Will game run at 1 month per 1 - 2 minutes?
If it was 1 month per 4 minutes average (I except to slow down towards end, as more stuff appears on map), then it would be one year per 48 minutes.
So I would get to 2070 year after 50 hours of gameplay.
So if my calculations are correct it will take 20 - 100 hours of gameplay to conquer whole world (I would research everything first, and then conquer "underdeveloped" world >:D)
EDIT: clicked preview and got answer on game speed lol.
Apparently my picked 8 seconds per day was actually bit high, but still its nice to hear.
Edit:
12 seconds/day at endgame is 6 minutes/month. So it would pass each year every 72 minutes - one hour and 12 minutes.
4 seconds/day at beginning is 2 minutes/month. So its 24 minutes per year. It seems to be reasonably fast for grand strategy.

It takes more than 1GB of HDD space so I'm puzzled by thisBalthagor wrote:As per Steam Store page;

Also, does this game benefits from more RAM or it doesn't really matter after 4GB?

Hmm so game should run fine - everything is more than enough in my computer. Also CPU has 4 cores.Balthagor wrote:As per Steam Store page;

My monitor has resolution of 1280x1024. So it should be fine.
BTW my windows is 64 bit.
If it is 32 bit game, then it wont use more than 4 GB of RAM on 64 bit windows.number47 wrote:It takes more than 1GB of HDD space so I'm puzzled by thisBalthagor wrote:As per Steam Store page;

RAM is more important, if you plan to add some heavy mods to game.

Re: Supreme Ruler Ultimate Announcement
Just a sidenote: I was told three years ago by Balthagor I think that SR engine while is multithreaded it runs better with fewer, but faster cores, than many slower ones. There could be a performance benefit in turning off hyperthreading with an Intel i3. It would be interesting if anyone actually tested this. Personally I have a Pentium G860, it's a sandy bridge at 3ghz. Pretty good, but I wish I had an i5 when it comes to SR
As for 2Gb limit in 32bit programs, there's a way to go around that limit. I don't even know if this limit exists in SR, but here is the program which is pretty easy to do that removes it: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threa ... re.112556/
