Creating a MOD

Post by MikeRegan »

I'm sooo close but have a major problem.

1. I've read all the info on WiKi
2. I copied default.unit. Modified it and saved it in the same folder as the original.
3. I copied and moved the campaign 1936 to CUSTOM folder.
4. I renamed the 1936 scenario file to myfile.scenario
5. I inserted my new .unit file on the line below default.unit in the scenario file. (Also tried deleting default.unit and replacing it entirely with my new .unit file)
6. I changed the "savfile" to something like "mymodgame"
7. Saved everything.
8. Started the game and under "Scenario" chose my new file "Myfile". Chose the US as my country and accepted all the game defaults.
9. Game seemed to cache it ok
10. Saw the cache-saved file in my savegame folder.
11. Renamed it and restarted the game.
12. Chose the new load game and I started as EGYPT and not the US. I have NO control over Egypt and can't do anything with the country as it doesn't accept any input.

Any help would be fantastic. Thanks.

I'm assuming 11.5 was to move the renamed cache into the CACHE folder?
Have you tried caching without changing nations?
Is the region include in the proper place.. this sounds like a regioninclude issue.
Look in your secenario file and for where its looking for the .regioninclude

Did you delete the original Cache file?

If you get Egypt as the start country, something is bugged.

Well I guess I was farther away than I thought.

The "cache" file (since I use STEAM) is located in my USER folder so I did move it to the CACHE folder but it didn't change anything. I followed the directions in WIKI (Ruges - Adding new Units) but it didn't work. Egypt keeps coming up as the default Country with a -22 Trillion dollar treasury. Don't know what's wrong but I guess I'll have to wait until someone does a "Here's how to do it. Number 1-15 so Newbies (like me) can follow. Thank you for your quick reply.
