Before I answer I want to say that this story was written at the beginning of the Eastern 'revolt'. You have to keep in mind this is a story meant for a war game essentially, so I used some artistic freedom. Also Personally I dislike the government in Kiev, the separatist, Moscow government, Washington DC government and the EU, because all of them are to blame in escalating this conflict.George Weah wrote:...

So for my reply
The story itself is not nearly finished yet and I don't either know when the mod itself will be finished yet. I recognize that my story on Ukraine contains errors and I appreciate people trying to help make it better. For the mods sake I want to have a story on Ukraine and Russian relations, since I plan to have that as a central part of a possible meltdown point in Europe. I was thinking of maybe doing something for Belarus as well when power changes hands there. So when I wrote that part I just wanted to have a story that I would later rewrite, but so that I have some idea of where I am going with the mod. At some point I have to cut the story from reality and start an 'alternative' story-line.
As for your first scenario, I would appreciate news sources on that Kazakhstan scenario, I haven't heard anything about it. The news that I hear is that Kazakhstan is so under the thumb of Russia that they actually benefit economically from it, because such an large amount of trade goes there. Something like a third of their imports come from Russia if I remember correctly, and they are politically strongly aligned to Russia.
As for scenario 2 & 3, My current thinking on the Ukraine and Russia situation is that Russia risks becoming too dependent on China economically so that they will secede their international standing/dominance more to China. As for Novorossiya I don't think Russia will be able to annex it, even though I think Russia would wan't to extend the border to the Dniepr river, the West would never allow it. Ukraine can count on American help to atleast some extent since they se this conflict as an hegemonic one, if Russia is allowed to challenge the the Americans without consequences then that would show example to other nations like China etc that they could do the same. I am still hopeful that a stalemate situation will occur and that negotiations will resolve the situation in the East, otherwise there is a possibility for an bigger war which would not be good. Recently I read that NATO is planning an rapid response for in response to the not so covert new Russian offensive in southern Donbass, which Russia recently launched. So if this conflict continues without an end and these to forces meet on the battle field, you could have a serious escalation on your hands. As for the entire population of Ukraine being united I don't agree, the population in the east is actually more hostile then in the rest of Ukraine, but the East would not have survived this long without Russian help either. I personally think news.vice.com has done a good cover on this conflict.
You also have to keep in mind the fact that Russia can technically keep going on this conflict for a while since they have huge wealth funds to cover the economic losses of this conflict, like the Russian National Wealth Fund. So thats why I think Russia is playing the long game and why I think there would not be an end to this conflict until an broad stalemate occurs.
So I will try to factor as much fact as I can into the story, while still trying to keep it relatively short
