Confirmed Bugs // Sea Transport Pathing, Strategic Launch Exploit

Post by LordTyrantFTW »

Good Afternoon, ladies and gents!

Looking to report the following recurring bugs.

Sea Transport Pathing is currently VERY broken

1. AI attempts to path to ports that no longer exist. In cases of this game breaking glitch, the AI unit will return to the point of departure after arriving at the erroneous destination. The unit will then continue the erroneous path either perpetually or until marine unit "disappears". This can result in the loss of entire armies as the AI does not recognize that the pathing is erroneous, and fails to re-path the units. This also exacerbates late game performance load, as often times, these units will number in the hundreds. From a gameplay perspective, this is a serious "grand strategy game breaker" in instances when a major power loses it's military to pathing.

This behavior is also displayed in instances where the AI will attempt to "garrison" or position troops on a hex where no city/base/facility exists as the result of destruction via bombardment or nuclear war. This behavior is also displayed in instances where the AI will fail to change it's capital city, despite it no longer existing due to bombardment. (So yes, an empty hex in some cases will remain as the capital city for the AI player in cases where the city on the hex itself is destroyed.)

Based on observations, air units and associated pathing, however, appear to perform the correct facility checks to negate the presence of the above glitch. Clues to correct this issue may exist in the working as intended code with air unit pathing.

2. Missile Launch Support Loop (strategic launch exploit) - When the human player performs a strategic launch against an AI player, the AI player will retaliate with their own strategic launch. The human player receives the option to support or condemn the AI player's launch. In this situation, it's possible for the human player to perform multiple missile launches; which will prompt the chance to support the opposing AI's launch repeatedly. In cases where this glitch is abused, it's possible to obtain 100% DipRelate with the nation you have just targeted with 10 strategic launches, before the missiles even touch down.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reports. Just to let you know, we generally encourage posts be one topic per thread. Where there are multiple topics, we usually deal with them one at a time.

Is this where the port/pier has been destroyed? Do you have a savegame with such a case?

My privilege, noted! Due to file size restrictions I've taken the liberty to forward an impacted save-game via e-mail, Mr Latour.

The following relevant information has also been included;

1. Filename : A1 - Port Pathing Bug // Sea units appear to be pathing towards/onto hex X:880 y:382 ; in Africa, loyal Nigeria, nearby the coastal city of Lagos. (Port/Pier destroyed)

Thank you for your time and consideration!
