HUNGARY: Missing Tech's and other additions

Post by geminif4ucorsair »

HUNGARY seems to be missing several Tech's, either Known or Researchable from the active tech's available. Particularly this is a problem with future Research tech's in the Warfare category - where Hungary has only one (1) unknown Warfare tech it can research (Improved Gun Barrel Mfg.).

I would add the following to KNOW Techs:

* #1572 - Marine Steam Turbines - see remarks below - #1639.

* # 916 - Early Aircraft Engines (1917) - Hungary's was building several aircraft engines, especially licensed designs from the UK and elsewhere
in the 1930s, and as example, would use these domestic built engines on its Weiss (Manfred) WM 16 Budapest I/II series recon
aircraft.

* # 1638 - Military Vessels '17 - see remarks below - #1639.

* # 1094 - Air Cooled Radial Engines - much as above.

* # 921 - Pneumatic tires (1922) - Hungarian truck and A/C makers were already using pneumatic tires in the early-30s, including a series
of Raba and Weiss trucks, and prototypes of the Straussler 39M Csaba 4x4 armored car.

* #1553 - Lightweight Radial Engines (1924) - much as improved engines that followed Tech #916, including the 550-hp WM/Gnome Rhone 9K.
used on the Weiss 16A Budapest I reconnaissance biplane and successor Gnome-Rhône 14K Mistral Major (870 hp WM-K-14A/
910-hp WM-K-148 used on several following aircraft designs.

* #1613 - Artillery Bore Improvements - MAVAG was already building a new barrel for the 75mm MAVAG/Skoda M.15/31, 75mm M.15/35M
MAVAG/Skoda mountain gun, 149mm M.14/35 to modernize these artillery pieces, as well as the 149mm M31 and 105mm
M31 MAVAG/Skoda artillery guns.

* #1638 - Early Military Vessels (1916) - see comments under #1639.

* #1639 - Military Vessels 1925 - Hungary's Danubius SY firms (later Ganz) built the battleship SZENT ISTVAN (St. Stephen) in WW One and also
merchant ships on the Danube; while Italian takeover of the yard interrupted the commercial viability in post-WW One, the
shipyard did resume construction in later years.

* #1556 - Improved Aircraft Design (1929) - Weiss 16A/B would meet this criteria.

* #1708 - Automotive Suspension Systems (1932) - Weiss (Manfred) firm had developed independent suspension systems by the mid-30s
and was applying these, along with Straussler, to new 4x4 and 6x4 cargo truck design, later also used in Straussler 39M A/C.

* #1555 - Aircraft Tech '33 - the Budapest II reconnaissance aircraft satisfied this requirement.
------------
Tech that should be Research available: Warfare
* # 1091 Monoplane Construction (1914)
* # 1098 Improved Aircraft Alloys (1931)
* # 1618 Navigation & Avionics Development (1934)
* # 1598
* # 1592 Improved AA Guns (1934)
* # 1310 Semi-Automatic Rifles (1932)
* # 1312 Light Machine Guns (1936)

* Production Units:
* Weiss WH 16 Budapest II reconnaissance aircraft - no UNITID# - complete on data sheet
* Raba Super 3.5-ton 4x2 Cargo Truck - no UNITID# - complete on data sheet

* Research Units:
* Weiss WH 21 reconnaissance aircraft - no UNITID# - complete on data sheet
* Weiss Csepel 3-ton 6x4 Cargo Truck - no UNITID# - complete on data sheet
* Straussler 39M / Csaba 4x4 Armored Car (1938) - no UNITID# - complete on data sheet

[There may of course be others from other regions within where tech pre-req's have been met - the above are just Hungarian unit types]

----------------------

* BUDAPEST - The city and surround hexes are not well designed with existing facilities - appears to be direct download from SR-49 map.
I would suggest the following changes:

* BUDAPEST CITY - (X929 Y167) - Remove all the Power- Coal plants to new location, south (or north) of city.

ADD: 1 x Good Military facility - Ganz facility at Csepel.
ADD: 1 x Goods - Industrial - Ganz-owned steel mill at Csepel.
ADD: 1 x Security Bureau - relocated from current Budapest Military Complex (X931 Y167)
ADD: 1 x Barracks - relocated from the current Budapest M.C. (X931 Y167)

* AIR FABRICATION.

ADD: BUDAPEST - Ganz-MAVAG aircraft factory - Add: 1 x Aircraft Fabrication facility (X931 Y168)

Note: The Budapest Military Complex should therefore have: 1 x Airfield, 1 x Aircraft Fabrication, 3 x Land Fabrication.
--------------
* AIRFIELDS.
Both below were permanent pre-war airfields, including flight training field (pre-war):
* PECS (X927 Y175)
* PAPA (X921 Y168)

------------
* DANUBE RIVER - DANUBE River should be made a Large River where ships can transit, at least to Budapest. Much like Russia's Volga, it was
usable by ocean-going merchant ships throughout the river.
If changed, ADD:
* NAVAL FABRICATION.

* BUDAPEST - (X931 Y168) - Danubius (Ganz) Shipyard - Add: 1 x Naval Fabrication
------------
