An FPS Issue not associated with the video card.

Post by Jake2572 »

I'm using a GTX 660 Ti 2gb, with an i5 3570k. While playing there is a constant FPS lag while navigating the map. When I zoom in: FPS lag. When I zoom out: FPS Lag. Is there a work around to this? Will this be optimized by the time the final release is out? I'm not sure on whether or not this is a common issue, but any explanation would be much appreciated.

Thanks, first post on forum

I'm assuming by "view empire" you mean showing "Map Ownership overlay"? If so then this occurs with that off.

There does seem to be some FPS lag situations we need to identify... it doesn't happen for everyone the same way and the common factors seem to be hard to nail down.

Could you try these things and see if it makes any difference... after each graphics setting change you need to quit/restart for it to take effect:

Under the Options/Graphics menu:

1) Turn off "Windowed Mode"

2) Toggle the "Nvidia Workaround" setting (if it's on, turn it off, or if it's off, turn it on)

3) Set the Imagery Quality to Low.

With:

Windowed Mode = off

Nvidia Workaround = off

Image Quality = low

The game has the stuttering issue while units are active on fastest - fast. There is still a stuttering issues under fast speed - paused just not as bad; but still irritating.

With:

Windowed Mode = On

Nvidia Workaround = On

Image Quality = Low

The game performs the same as mentioned above, slightly worse.
