XP SP3 Blue Screen ....

Post by Draken »

 Well looks like the long postponed PC upgrade has arrived.... My game PC is a very old box...

I've been fighting with a Blue Screen of Death in the game main menu ...Seems to be caused by NV4_Disp.DLL

Updated drivers to no avail... Most likely this is cause by my old hardware and not SR1936... Sucks... But I'll have to wait to play

Hmmmmmm. We haven't had any other reports of this. Unfortunately nVidia doesn't have any beta or alternate drivers, but it definitely sounds like a video driver/windows issue.

Very strange... a Google search seems to report that this driver does have some issues in XP, but nothing that can be traced to any single cause (or solution).

Tried driver downgrade? for example to this one
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/56379
Sometimes driver downgrades might help incase a new driver happen to introduce some new bug. Also have you got the possibility to test with srcw as well? If it works with that game but not with SR1936 it might also help pinpoint the problem
Happy Linux user!

Downgrade, good suggestion. Worth a try! Thanks!

SRCW works fine.... Even after all the messing around with drivers so far.

I'm back...

The solution was to get a new PC with Windows 8.1 Pro :)

Now I can finally play SR1936... (Still relearning the ropes after an 8 months hiatus from SR)
