I have seen in this in several SR-36 games, where Argentine Merchant Ships depart Japan, Madagascar or other areas and end up sailing to northern Chile, usually to the port of Iquique.
As the player for Japan, military equipment to Argentina sailed the Pacific and then cruised the northern Chile coast, docking, and a few turns later, disappearing.
In the current game, also playing Japan, two Argentine Merchant Ships left Diego Garcia (Japanese controlled)
and are now off the Chilean coast and headed north.....again.
Therefore, does not seem departing location has anything to do with it.......just what country they are supposed to do to....Argentina.
Thanks for looking into.

What do you mean by "disappearing"? Are they moving out of your line of sight?

They usually appear to enter the Chilean port, then either:Balthagor wrote:What do you mean by "disappearing"? Are they moving out of your line of sight?
* are engaged by Chilean forces ashore (seen once), or,
* simply disappear off the map........(seen more than once, and during a time when Chile as ally,
could view all Chilean units.
Playing SR-36 Sandbox as Japan and its Jan '44, two Argentine merchant ships are again transiting within
Chilean waters, heading northward (already past Santiago) - and, there is no transit treaty between our
ally Argentina and Chile, hence no reason these Merchant Ships should be transiting in Chilean waters
(my view, anyway).
Thanks for looking at.
