I thought of this the other day as a sort of 'cheap fix' to blasting through years in-game. The cheat endday drastically speeds the game up as spotting stops and things like research does too so what if there was a lobby option to enable this during times when no country is at war?
IMO it would have to be modified a bit to re-enable research and fabrication and the game would have to make sure any deployed units are in say, 75%+ supply hexes only. It could also be further extended so that if a country does go to war only the warring countries and any allies armies' (maybe neighbours too) become active again for the duration of the war, squeezing as much speed as possible.
I have no idea if this is even feasible or not, just a random brain-fart after I saw the trump rising DLC and it made me want to play again .
An idea to make the game faster?

No research? Game breaker for me. There are trillion of techs and regions lacking tech, i feel it would be extremely unrealistic if world is not progressing.
But if your looking to play again, they improved the speed in last patch.
