Re: New unit requests - Missing units

Post by Col_Travis »

I've only been back for three months and purchased 1936 a week ago so I havn't had time to check, but I'll find more. The Austrian ADGZ armoured car is missing.

I've also noticed that in both the 1936 sandbox and campaign versions for Germany are missing all six of each of the Raubtier (Wolf) and Raubvogel (Möwe) torpedo boats, the Admiral Graf Spee armoured cruiser and the Z4Richard Beitzen destroyer. Also the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau should be building in the slipways at Wilhelmshaven and Kiel respectively in May and June of 1936, but the naval fabs are missing and the design hasn't even been researched yet. The naval fab issue I'll bring up on the Map Errata thread and I have alot for that as well including two major map issues dealing with Germany and Japan.

I did check the Unit file and the West German Hamburg class destroyers and Köln class frigates are still missing from Cold War. And West Germany can't build the 17373 D-185 Lütjens destroyer. The 1936 game doesn't let the Germans build or even have the 17821 Moltke class battleship available to trade. For all of the games the 20465 A-1411 Berlin class AOR/transport still has the wrong range of 3704km as opposed to its real range of 16,000km, this is the ship that the RCN selected as it's new replentishment ship. I will listing Unit errata in the appropriate thead later, and there's a lot.

Your info is very helpfull. You can list unit errata here, I don't mind :-)

P.S. Moltke class was not built or available after 1911. Goeben in turkey's service was the lone survivor.

Yes I can, I'll try and do it by nation and or unit type. I'll start listing more tonight.

The Moltke class was the basis for the Bismarck class via the Mackensen class, so it should be available for trade.

It was obsolete by '36 and nobody considered building them or buying the design since much better were available at the time.

Here's two more German ships and two Dutch designs. The Kanonenboot 1938 (Gunboat 1938) K1-K4 and Kanonenboot 1941 K5-?. The K5 Kanonenboot 1941 was the first vessel ever designed to carry a helicopter (Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri) for ASW work. You could probably add the Flak training ship/minelayer Brummer and the gunnery training ship Bremse used as an escort. The Dutch had been working with the Germans on designing the Project 1047 BC and the K class sloop, K1-k3 completed out of seven planned.

All these and about one hundred further designs are researched to BG requirements but are on ACCESS spreadsheet and will have to have conversion to integrate as a group with BG SQL DB.

Contact me offline [geminiad@whidbey.com] if you'd be willing to help convert the file.

--------
Under separate post is a running dialogue posted originally to Steam Forum regarding missing units, rating BB/BC types versus current ship ratings, etc. About 400 units are involved from 1918 thru 1937, plus another hundred that represent post-WW Two designs, modifications / upgrades, and proposal designs or ahistorical designs.
It would be nice to incorporate this into SR-36 / SR-36U.

Heck, Russia has carriers in the game.
I'm not sure what unit type is that. Air unit? Or ship? How to represent that?!
Because of Speed and its water-landing characteristics, it would be classed as an Air Unit.

Believe this was discussed long-go under SR 2020 forum, but it would be an Air Unit with Missile launch characteristics built-in (Missile Capacity), based on the primary missile carried.....there actually were more than one design that could carry missiles (call them ahistorical, have data on them but never incorporated in proposed Unit addition to Bathagor several years ago).
