Strategy Guide Volunteers?
All,
Thanks to Steam, I noticed today that I have about 320 hours of game time in. Yeah, surprised me too.
I had the privledge of working with AGEOD on Pride of Nations, as an alpha/beta tester and as the lead on writing their strategy guide for the game.
SR1936 could use a Strat Guide. We have a small but fairly dedicated group of players that have enough time under their belts to help develop a New Player Guide as well as a more detailed Strategy Guide. Basically a Word document converted to PDF.
Any interest?
Balt/BG--any issues you see with the community working on a player's guide?

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
Sweet. I'm thinking this as the basic organization:
New Player's Guide (basics on starting play, which countries to play as a first game, major how-to's (economy, unit production, tech)
Strategy Guide
--Economic development (why economies crash, how to balance budgets, importance of DAR, etc.)
--Tech paths/approaches (big techs vs. unit development, etc.)
--Winning the diplomatic, economic, tech or military games
--Basic guide to modding SR games (how to cache, etc.)
--Individual nation guides (USA, Germany, USSR, etc.)

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
We should leave out the mesh making for the game until one of us has successfully made a working model
I remember stuff like this being on the wiki for SR2010 and SR2020 so I don't think its a problem.

This is what I picture Balthagor was looking like while writing the above response:

@Aragos, if I get some time the weekend, i'll get some stuff written up and sent over to you. I could create a dropbox folder for us all to put our notes in and to collaborate on if you want.

Sounds good to me Scuba. There isn't a huge rush on this project, as the game is still in development, but we can do a lot to ease in new players (and maybe help out sales a bit!)

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
I made a Ecomomic guide reasently, maby material from there could be used, I'm also in the process of creating a wiki which could be used for this if BG don't want to provide theirs(didn't it have some loggin issues?).

Count me in. Not sure how or where I can help but ask and if I can do it ( as in know how) Ill do it. Just don't ask me to make a video, I already know I cant do that.
Economic guide is badly needed, some see how simple it can be but others seem to get overwhelmed at the complexity of it all.

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
Cool. I think first priority should be division of work load.
Hullu--since you have already done some work on economics, would you mind taking the lead?
Scuba, et al: This is what is open--
--New Player 101 (how to guide all the basics--economics, diplomacy, units)
--Technological development strategies (I'm thinking major large countries (USA, etc.), medium-large (ex: Belgium), and small (Costa Rica)) for different play styles/country types
--Military issues
----Construction, deployment, organization (reserves vs. active, etc.)
----Tactics (Naval, Air and Ground)
--Political/Diplo
----Annex vs. Colonize vs. Release
----Alliance building 101
----World Conquest and diplomacy (spheres, etc.)
anything else?

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
Sure, I can make the economic stuff, question is going to be where should this be done, think Argos suggested PDF before, I suggested setting up our own wiki or should we as balth to give us all access to supremewiki?

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
you can use word or text file or rich text file, and I can send you all a link to a dropbox folder to store it in for later collation into a single file perhaps?

Re: Strategy Guide Volunteers?
Hmm... It will become very messy and time consuming if we're going to mess around with Word files here and there. I'll set up a google docs where everyone can participate. I'll start adding stuff there later today/tomorrow but if someone is eager, feel free to start.
