Missile storage on board of carriers.

Post by raybaudi »

Would it be possible to allow a/c to reload their missile supplies from carriers offshore?

Not sure there were very many missiles flying around in 1936 era. Rockets a little later, yea, but missiles?

There aren't air launched missiles within our era.

Also, this was posted to the forum more than a year ago for wider discussion and the decision was not to make changes in this area. If I came across the thread again I'll post a link.

What about the German glider bombs that were used against things like the Roma? Or are they going to be just included as part of the units stats?

Bathagor.....he is talking about HS.293 and Fritz FX-1400 aircraft launched glide bombs.

Also, U.S. "Bat" would be among those, as would the Japanese "Baka" (even though it had a pilot, of sorts).....

Neither of those types of ordnance have sufficient range to be treated as "missile units".

I guess the only real 'missile units' of the era would be the German V-1/V-2/V-3 systems, with maybe some historically accurate (but alternative history) Allied and Soviet systems?

Well it would be nice to have the ability (honestly I'm not really interested in "another WWII game" it's been done to death, but I look forward to new features and better AI...so while I will jump on the kickstarter my minds already on modding to late CW). I can think of 2 good reasons. 1 For modders. 2. It's possible for the game to go on long enough for players to develop missiles (I am assuming that the game engine isn't changing very much and the units will basicly be the same).

Missiles are in, the GUI is there, but keep in mind what I mentioned above, that this was posted to the forum more than a year ago for wider discussion and the decision was not to make changes in this area.

The thread is out there somewhere...

I remember the thread you are typing about and I was one of the peopole asking for carriers to be able to replenish airframe ordinance at sea, since that is exactly what happens daily. :(

Oh, I'm sure I've read it. Probably in 2020 development.

One idea I've toyed with but keep forgeting to try (or I tryed it and forgot the result) was giving carriers and transports a small supply level (column AE). In theory that allows missile resupply. Also oilers and supply ships could have their cargo cap taken away so they couldn't be used as troop transports but would be able to fulfill their intended mission.

The problem is I'm not sure if that is too OP.

Missile system in general needs a lot of love, but I can understand why it is low to non-existant on the priority list for the next release.

I rather still like my idea on page two.

And from a 2007 thread on same issue;

CW development??? Or was that a migrated thread?

I kinda like that idea and I kinda don't. On the one hand it adds realism and a use for supply transports, as it is now a CVN can supply the entire CSG indefinitly, ESG by virtue of being half tranports the same and I don't really use surface groups (at least in 2020). On the other it adds complexity, micromanagement and the AI would struggle with it.

Having the ships generate supply instead of carry it would make them useful and alleviate the micro problem, also wouldn't require changes to the engine (except the AI) but I don't know if it is too imbalanced. I believe I tried it in 2020 and it did work.
