Improved BattleGroup Control
I would like to see increased/enhanched battlegroup control.
*More hotkey functions, now when you go past battlegroup 11 the hotkeys number don't pick the battlegroup(say bg43). Improvement suggestion, could you add say ctrl+number combo, as long as you hold ctrl, you could enter a long number to get the appropriate bg.
*A function to add a certain unit to a certain bg. Personally I organize my armies into "Brigades" consisting of 7 units, now during combat it's normal that you loose 1, 2 or more of those. I would like a feature that allows me to directly assign new units to that bg while it's in combat so that I can directly pursue the enemy in full streanght without having to gather my bg somewhere, hit remove and add bg.
*Assign battlegroups to reserved units
*Deploy/Mobilize reserved battlegroup
*Ou and the old SR2020 features of renaming etc bg's as well
It feels like you introduced a new cool feature, but left it unfinnished

Re: Improved BattleGroup Control
The importance of this seems reduced when to my knowledge no one is using the mod that puts back even 2020's level of BattleGroup control...

Re: Improved BattleGroup Control
*am actually trying it at moment of reading your reply* and my first thought is "yay! ". But I suggested 4 other points as well of whitch the hotkey function would be most important. and also some sort of hierarchy based battlegroup system would come in handy when playing countries like China, Russia or US, say you could organize battlegroups into Supergroups or something.Balthagor wrote:The importance of this seems reduced when to my knowledge no one is using the mod that puts back even 2020's level of BattleGroup control...

Yeah...That was a very sneaky post!.... I know that I'm not around as I used to but that post going under my radar........Balthagor wrote:I've been waiting for you to try it! Guess I should have PMed it to you
I'm testing it right now... So far I like it! The only thing I found is that the BG cannot be selected from the unit popup (handy feature to clean up mixed BG in one hex).... Not a big deal if it cannot be done with the mod..
The BG actually keep their names after been disbanded and (looks like) the last BG number that was deleted is the next one to be assigned ... Useful to reorg the BG while keeping their order in the list... need a bit of more testing on this (I'm playing an economic game - me! - and hace just a handful of units)
EDIT: Disregard the issue with the unit popup... it is working
Great Mod!

It would be nice if your battlegroup stays together and not get spread all over the planet for example I set up a task group of ships with a carrier destroyers frigates subs and support ships why do they then get spread all over the place it makes the battlegroup thing pointless.

Re: Improved BattleGroup Control
Because you are letting the AI control them.. the AI doesn't use battlegroups its a player centric feature.Terrantrooper wrote:It would be nice if your battlegroup stays together and not get spread all over the planet for example I set up a task group of ships with a carrier destroyers frigates subs and support ships why do they then get spread all over the place it makes the battlegroup thing pointless.

Re: Improved BattleGroup Control
This is essential for the way I play. I assign a unit to a group and use the group to give most orders and manage larger forces. It helps me keep things organized and structured. So thank you for the GUI mod! Saved CW for me.

Re: Improved BattleGroup Control
Battle-group control is a definite must and should be developed further.
*Add hierarchy features(say organize battlegroups withing battle/fieldgroups etc. and some fast key commands.
*I find it annoying that you can only access the first 10 battle-groups by keys. I can have upto 30-40+ battlegroups as a country like France, Mexico or Thailand already whitin 1-2 years.
Would be nice to be able to move battlegroups from onepart of a country to another where it is urgently needed and still be able to be zoomed in on the battle to manage the fighting.
Consider the Battle of Staliningrad, If you have to zoome out and in all the time to move reserve battle groups and not focus on the battle itself, this could have big consequenses, especially if PvP.

Since we are in developing mode:
Expand the number of Battle Groups to more than 99 please....

Yes, I do... specially on longer games...Helps my OCD....
Besides, the Goats are wasting bits in the byte they use to stored the BG number... I say use the full byte and give us 256 BGs! (this remark is -partialy- with tongue in cheek )
