It would be nice if these could be sorted alphabetically so you can easily find what you have already researched.

I thought you could already do this, it was one of the options at the top, from right to left missles, units, techs, already researched techs ...

no, this is not currently possible. In looking back on the product we have already noticed that many of the lists have no sorting. I have a note that for future titles any list we create should be given a default sort criteria that makes more sense.
