Could a Dev Plz answer!
Great looking game with great promise .... but
I read in a previous post that there is no way other than Ctrl 0-9 to group units together, but is this true about navel units as well.
Kinda weird when i send my fleet across the ocean that they all go different speeds. Sure would make easy targets and how the hell do you expect us to be able to control all these units on the world map
Please answer:
?

Sorry, not a dev. But I think this issue might end up a widespread cancer like diplomacy.how the hell do you expect us to be able to control all these units on the world map
There was a hint by Daxon or Legend that some kind of heirarchy would be looked at again??
Personally I've begun to change my stance a little, and wonder if the choice of using larger more abstracted formations might be more playable at times. Either brigade combat teams or divisions, instead of 1000, 2000, or more battalions.

B@ked - as mentioned the Escort command works well to keep your units together.
and...
The things I am considering are how would groupings be represented on the map, how should the GUI be designed to handle assigning of units to groups, how are groups selected and changed etc.
There are absolutely no promises on this front so don't hold me to any anything or get your hopes up.
and...
as dust off mentioned I have a design in mind that I will be discussing with the rest of the BattleGoat team. If implemented it will allow players to group units in one of two methods - either in supermicro management mode - or automatically. If anyone has an ideas on how to implement such a game feature by all means post it here or send me an email - daxon@battlegoat.comThere was a hint by Daxon or Legend that some kind of heirarchy would be looked at again??

here is my idea regarding heirarchy.
First of all to creating new brigade or division you should chose from one of 3 types:
1. Tank
2. Mecanical inf.
3. Regular inf.
4. Special force.
Brigade
should be consistis of limited number of battalions and it can be as following:
1. Tanks: can have 3 battalions
2. Mecanical inf: can have 5 battalions
3. Regular inf: can have 7 battalions
4. Special force: can have 2 battalions
Each brigade can have difrent kind of units but at least 50% of the brigade should be fromits main type
for examble: mecanical inf. can have 3 mecanical battalions and 1 AA and 1 Artilary.
Division:
Should be consists of 3 Brigade. the type of the division will depend on the brigades inside it
for examble if division have 2 Tank brigade and 1 mecanial inf. then that division will be Tank division.
Commanding:
To command a division you have a unit called HQ of the division and it is rpresented on the map and if you click on that unit you get 4 choices (3 represent the 3 brigades and the 4th if you need to select the whole division). if your HQ is destroied you lose the controll over your units untill you assign new HQ.
Hope my idea will be usifull or at least some of it. Some of the heirarchy informations i get from milatery books.

Keeping it simple remains one of the greatest challenges. In fact, that is the major challenge for the entire game. I was the strongest supporter for hierarchy in the dev team but even I have set it aside for now since the updates are taking up our time. When we do work on additional content, I still expect Ops to get a higher priority than hierarchy but a "move in formation" command is a reasonable idea. I'll be sure it gets onto our list, just not promises on a timeline.

I think putting units into one icon like a brigade would help out alot. But I don’t think it should go any higher than a Brigade or Regiment because of the map scale. And havening units in a Brigade would have it’s advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is havening a lot of fire power in one place and the disadvantage is that the unit is more likely to be encircle. I also think putting units into one icon would help in the Naval and air power part of the game. You can use it to set up naval task force that move at the same speed or set up an attack wing with some fighter escort.

Agree with most of what you say Shellshock.
I probably don't agree with having fixed numbers of battalions to make up a brigade. Modern armies tend to use brigade size combat teams, (battle groups in UK terms). Their composition is determined by the task mush as the Germans created Kampfen Groups.
The best solution would be to be able to order most units by brigade, whilst still being able to detach a single battalion.
