How does this work exactly? Everything has always just auto-annexed for me, how do I release some of this territory I have as colonies? If I'm playing as Bad Guy Brazil, can I invade Venezuela and turn them into an oil producing puppet/colony?When an enemy region falls in single player games, you are given the option to annex, colonize, or liberate...

Re: Colonies: Question on manual info
Good to know! Since I've only played the release version and don't really know how it's supposed to work, am I going to be able to diplomatically release these nations as Colonies later, or will it only be an option during conquest?

Can release colonies into their own nations but once you annex it, its yours.goodgimp wrote:Good to know! Generally colonization or liberate is a smarter choice unless you really need the man power.. lol

Re: Colonies: Question on manual info
When an enemy falls, you will be presented with an option to annex/liberate/colonize. If you annex or liberate them than that is that no going back afterwards. If you colonize them, you can later release them (give them independence).

Re: Colonies: Question on manual info
so if i understand it right:
a) "Colony" = puppet state (sorry, but Colony is misleading in Terms of imperialism) ?
b) liberate = Independent Country with a friendly government (no Manpower or industrial benefits?), basically a coup d´etat from foreigners?
c) Annex = all mine (with what, 66% Efficiency in production)?

Re: Colonies: Question on manual info
Pretty much correct.. but i disagree with your statement that colony is misleading.. what was a colony other than a puppet state?Ozi wrote:so if i understand it right:

Colony provides most of the benefits without the drawbacks of annexation. IE you can get goods etc from them at no cost. It also allows you to build up on their land so that when/if you decide to release them they would actually be a strong partner.
Colonization should really have more drawbacks.. like small chance of revolutionaries for independence. But as of now Colonization will provide the most benefit with the least amount of risk.
