One of my favorite things to do is to replay actual historic events with hypothetical alternative factors. It is why this game is so appealing to me and others. Speeding up research is one way I do this, and I have never noticed or read about anyone experiencing negative effects.

Researching in ww2 era was the biggest reason for me to buy this game.

I have ICBMs and it's only 1955. My military also pretty much destroys the world.

Well, Germany was messing about in mid '40s (A9/A10), US (SM-65 Atlas) and USSR (R7 Semyorka) had operational ICBM's in service in late '50s...you are not that much ahead are you? :P
