Overhaul the (Communist) Economic System

Post by geminif4ucorsair »

In my view, the economic system as it relates to the Communist counties is quite inaccurate.
Included in that statement is, in particular, Consumer Good demand. It is way tooooo high, especially in the early years of SR-CW,
and that would also carry-over to SR-1936.

If one looks at the USSR from the mid-1920s...the First 5-Year Plan began in 1925....and carry it through to 1955-56 (as Nikita Khrushchev) began assumption of leadership control in Moscow), the demand for consumer goods was severly suppressed compared to Western countries, including Japan from the 1920s onward. Only a small amount of luxury goods - which fits the Consumer Goods category - made it into the USSR and other communist regime countries - and those were for the elite military and political families that controlled the regimes.

Some serious consideration needs to be given this issue before release of SR-1936.

I won't put out the details at this time, leaving examples and statistics for a follow-on post.

Consumption of consumer goods could be easily regulated through government type.
Maybe BGs wants to share something about that :D

As an communist nation, the gov regulated almost all goods, assigned jobs to people(this often led to some great minds getting a factory job for example). In game terms, auto lock all AI control from goods and research, or put caps in place, say cons price can be less than 10$ and not more than 25$

The consumer goods demand was low for a reason, and you can replicate that in game by having the proper set of taxes and prices. Also SR doesn`t have a "luxury" goods department, closes, shoes, furniture and such are consumer goods, and something fairly avialable in communist countries.

SR1936 will include different consumer demand and production modifiers for different government types.

Communism, as indicated above, had issues with efficient production of goods, and also a greatly reduced expectation in citizens for consumer goods and even petrol.

Dictatorships have, generally, improved efficiency in military goods production.

And of course those crazy democracies have this desire for their consumer goods.

The government type modifier gets mixed in with other modifiers driven by techs, GDP, and a few other elements, to create the overall production and demand systems.
