BUG: Facilities costs=Maintenance seems wrong ...

Post by rbilka »

1) Facilities costs seems wrong, or are wrongly calculated.
I give you real example (I can also send you save-game).

Code: Select all

I have those facilities:
64 Military Complex
13 Air Bases
13 Barracks
12 Sea Port
27 Air Defense
82 Air Field
63 Supply Depot
5 Sea Pier
5 Radar Stations
23 Fortifications
15 Research Centers
1 Aerospace Engineering, Orbital Launch Pad, Mission Control, Orbital Telemetry
2 Inteligence Academy
6 Security Bureau
= 331 non-Industry facilities

99 Water Works
10 Timber Mill
482 Oil Fas Field
70 Coal Mine
181 Ore Mine
260 Uranium Mine
558 Power Nuclear
120 Consumer Goods
229 Industrial Goods
33 Military Goods
415 Industrial Complex Centers (+-)*
= 2457 Industrial facilities

---------------------
2788 facilities total (ok no airports, seapiers and etc)

*I don't know how much "Industrial Complex Centers" I have on map, but when I build one, I add 6 industry buldings to it. So I don't have there "empty" or "almost empty", just opostite, I have "almost full" "Industial Complex Centers" on map. When we took 2042 Industrial facilities - 450 (+-powerplants/water pums bulided in cities) we have: 2492/6= 415 Industrial Complex centers.
Results (for YEAR not DAY):
Finance >>> Income Report >>> Production: $717,835 M
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Facilities: $1,183,340 M
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Production: $493,647 M

It means AVERAGE YEAR MAINTENANCE for facily:
1 183 340 000 000$ / 2788 facilities = 424 440 459$/facility

I was thinking, that "highest" maintenance is for "Orbital Launcher", but there is only 130M/year (=130 000 000$/year), which is still far less than my average facility maintenance, so some of my facilities cost me far much much more that my calculated value.
Just for imagination, maintenance for some buildings (prices from game):
Orbital Launcher ... 130 000 000$/year
Research Center ... 18 000 000$/year
AeroSpace Engineering ... 32 000 000$/year
Security Bureau ... 32 000 000$/year
Inteligence Academy ... 24 000 000$/year
Military Complex ... 16 000 000$/year
Aircraft Fabrication ... 24 000 000$/year
Land Fabrication ... 45 000 000$/year
Barrack/Air Base/Sea Port ... 32 000 000$/year
Fortification ... 3 000 000$/year
Radar ... 31 000 000$/year
Air Field ... 26 000 000$/year
Maintenance for industrial facilities are currently not available, due to BUG, so we don't know, how much maintenance those costs.

So ... why I have so big Facilities expense?
Or how is exactly maintenance callculated, and what all it include?

To be exactly, in my example:
Everything is produced to "100% Demand".
For everything "Domestic margin" is 50%.
I am not selling anything to world market.
I am not producing anything to "supply/stock".
All facilities are ENABLED, none is DISABLED, so in some cases, I am using only 9% of production capacity of that industry.

I hope/think, that maintenance not include wages/salaries, nor prices for raw materials and etc.
So it is only fixed price not connected to production output (almost fixed costs).

Even when those calculations are correct, than there would be nice to have them displayed and calculated directly in final "production costs" for better "Selling" orientation.
That of course needs some changes in GUI also, and

2) Facilities costs (=maintenance) for "Industrial facilities" should be already calculated in "production costs" of a particular industry.
So we should see correct = final value/price od production costs in all industry tabs like:
Production >>> Agriculture >>> "Production cost"
Production >>> Petroleum >>> "Production cost"
... etc
It should be NOT any "Facilities" entry there, like it is now:
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Facilities
(for roads/rails/airports/seapiers/supply centers and others, see end of this post).
Otherwise we can not set correct selling price by % (as clean/net revenue) margin, when maintenance is not implemented in production costs.
Also, we should see detailed maintenance report for that particular industry, like how much we pay maintenance for "Coal power plant", "Petrol power plant" and etc.

3) Facilities costs (=maintenance) for "Military facilities" should be displayed and calculated somewhere in "Military" spending and "Military department",
and not as it is now, displayed only as common facility costs in:
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Facilities
But it should be displayed/calculated in:
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Defense (why not Military Dep.?) >>> Military Facilities
Otherwise, we do not know real "price" for military department.
Also, detailed maintenance report in "Military" would be nice, so we can see how much state pays for "radars", "air defenses" and etc.

4) Facilities costs (=maintenance) for "Road/Rails" and others like "Airports,Seapiers,SupplyCenters" should be displayed separatly.
It should be nice, when we should have separate "row line" line for road and separate for rails maintenance, displayed in Finance >>> Expense Report for example in:
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Transportation dep. (Rails)
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Transportation dep. (Roads)
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Transportation dep. (Airports)
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Transportation dep. (Seapiers)
Finance >>> Expense Report >>> Treasuty >>> Transportation dep. (Supply Centers)
...etc

Another experience.

State 0:
I start new game (MultiPlayer) as Bhutan. Then I send as another player/country all necessary raw materials/products to the Bhutan.

State 1:
So, when I destroy in Bhutan everything and leave just 2 empty cities, "maintenance" drops to 0. This is OK.
FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURY >>> FACILITIES >>> $0 M

State 2:
Then I build 20x "empty" Industrial Complexes.
When they are done, total "maintenance" rises to $36M/year.
FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURY >>> FACILITIES >>> $36 M
That means around 1 800 000$/year/facility.

State 3:
But after some time (6-12months), it decreases to $20M/year (around 20 000 000$/year).
FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURY >>> FACILITIES >>> $20 M
That means around 1 000 000$/year/facility.
There are no other facility, only just those 20 Industrial Complexes.
Why facilities "maintenance" changes?

State 4:
Then I build 20x Agricultural.
When done, facility maintenance does not change! Is sill about 20 000 000$/year.
FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURY >>> FACILITIES >>> $20 M

That looks to me, that INDUSTRIAL FACILITYS does not have any fixed MAINTENANCE. Is that true?

Why facilities "maintenance" changes?
Maintenance expenses are (as far as I know) influenced by gdp/c...how did your gdp/c change in that testing period?

This I can confirm as true.

I have done more testing.

The results seems to be:
1) For Industry Facilities, is maintenance in FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURE >>> FACILITIES is always 0$.
That is also reason, why in facility details is as anual maintenance "-", instead value.
Only one exception is the "Industrial Complex Center", which have anual maintenance.

2) So maintenance here (in FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURE >>> FACILITIES) are all other facilities, like civilian and military facilities (airports, radars, airdefense and etc).

3) Maintenance in (in FINANCE >>> EXPENSES >>> TREASURE >>> FACILITIES) is increaseing with GDP!

Also we need to investifate, if "roads" and "rails" are included there too.
