Some bugs worthy of note

Post by Huangdiist »

My favourite gaming company for strategy games,

I have purchased the game through Amazon two days ago moreover I have been playing it non-stop ever since. Whilst it is definitely indeed the best one in the Supreme Ruler series, however I noticed a few bugs or glitches that of which need to be noted. I must tell you, I have a very keen eye moreover I spot things very quickly, having refined my ability to catch game bugs over the months.
  • Occasionally during the game it eventually crashes for no reason, per se. In addition, there are signals or rather symptoms signalling this is about to happen, as when diplomatic offers' flags disappear too many times, or when one hovers the mouse cursor over the research event messages, or all event messages in general, it crashes. This happens after at least thirty minutes of gaming.
  • For some eccentric reason when once uses "cheat e=mc2" it only works with technology researching whilst when attempting military units or missiles researching it does not work, instead takes its usual time to complete. (I do not know if Paradox are the ones in charge of the cheats yet in case it is the case I decided to note this. Moreover do not judge me for cheating however, I have to since time is constrained lately for me to play the game in its fullest normality, thus I need to accelerate)
  • When you minimise the game, then re-maximise it afterwards, which is something I also noted on Supreme Ruler 2020, the writing in the game, the texts on numerous buttons is blurred, moreover cannot be clicked normally as it would have usually been done.
  • The 10x missile building capability, a practical function that was once there in 2020, is missing.... :(
  • When you start having more than 30 land fabrication bases, as well as hold over 2,000 army units in your country (especially if it small), the game begins to slow, which is also something I found in 2020 when I used to play it.
  • When you build buildings at minister recommended locations then attain the maximum slots the map is shoved up towards the polarising Arctic North
  • "Merchant ships", the odd landing ship conceptualisation, do not always obey orders when you send them to invade a nation thousands of kilometres away, even with supply ships escorting them. The same applies to aircraft as well as other naval vessels. In the case of aircraft the planes travel to a distance then stop, doing back-then-forth sorties from the homeland to the area where they decided to stop, without going any further, even if aircraft mid-air-refuelling tankers.
I installed the game on Windows 8 Enterprise x64 using its' retail DVD-ROM that was shipped to me, moreover I have also played the game on the default Cold War scenario, as well as the SR2020, in addition to the "Modern World" ones as well. Nevertheless, it is quite an excellent game, moreover I thank Paradox for creating this marvellous game. :)

Please reply soon if there are solutions to these, or if an update might be released to fix these issues.

Have you installed the updates? Also, are you aware of the impending new update with further fixes/enhancements?

Update 3 should fix some (most) of the things you mentioned. There is beta update available if you want to try it out but BG said the official update is close to release.(whatever that means  )

P.S. if you have steam version, than you'll have to wait for official release.

Are you certain this update solves most, if not all of my problems above?

In addition, since the list of changes is so long can you summarise where my problems have been addressed?

(I have the retail version of the game)

-never experienced this problem but they said they improved game stability

-never used cheats so can't help you with this
  • When you minimise the game, then re-maximise it afterwards, which is something I also noted on Supreme Ruler 2020, the writing in the game, the texts on numerous buttons is blurred, moreover cannot be clicked normally as it would have usually been done.
    -never experienced it myself...
  • The 10x missile building capability, a practical function that was once there in 2020, is missing.... :(
-this ability is still missing in the last beta update.
  • When you start having more than 30 land fabrication bases, as well as hold over 2,000 army units in your country (especially if it small), the game begins to slow, which is also something I found in 2020 when I used to play it.
-last beta (7.2.73) has improved greatly in the speed department considering 7.2.2 as the destack bug that was causing the lag has been "solved".
  • When you build buildings at minister recommended locations then attain the maximum slots the map is shoved up towards the polarising Arctic North
-can't help you here as I build at locations that I choose by myself.
  • "Merchant ships", the odd landing ship conceptualisation, do not always obey orders when you send them to invade a nation thousands of kilometres away, even with supply ships escorting them. In the case of aircraft the planes travel to a distance then stop, doing back-then-forth sorties from the homeland to the area where they decided to stop, without going any further, even if aircraft mid-air-refuelling tankers.
-unit pathing has been improved in last beta and should even be improved furthermore in official update 3
Answers in red. Not sure how much it will help but I think it would be easier for you to install the latest beta and check for yourself.

One more question however. Do you have Windows 8 x64, like I have? I think the operating system could cause some differences in how the game operates.

If this is the case, has BattleGoat Studios managed to make it compatible for Windows 8?

Its compatible with Windows 8 then, excellent.

Hitherto, the only conclusion I can come to henceforth to the problems I have noticed are that they must certainly be bugs. Hopefully these are going to disappear by the next upcoming update. :)

Consider my list of bugs a volunteered contribution to your company to help maintain the game. ;)
