In my current game I defeated Nicaragua while some of their garrison (and other units)were still fighting...
After selecting "colonize" all of their units went to my control, including the active garrisons... Problem is, that they are in cities that remained in control of the (colonized) region, so, they are still out, cannot move (of course) and I cannot scrap them (not in reserves)... Not a big issue but kinda annoying

Ive seen the same thing happen too. It happened when I liberated North Korea.
I just truck them to an airfield then air transport them to a city I own and let them depop and then banish them from the game.

good workaround, thanks!.... Normally I don't use trucks and it is too early in that game for helicopters...
