I usually don't go to help for modding my other games, but this engine is just odd. (To me)
Allow me to elaborate, I've been trying to group many countries and colonies in three giant clusters.
Then make a colony for each cluster. I can't even group them. I've also tried reading up on the
adding a country and etc; though it didn't clarify much. :-( Please Help!
As for now I'll just bash my head against a wall. |O

Thank you for your help in advance!

Easiest way to do this :
  • Find a region code thats not used.
  • Copy/paste another region and change all the region numbers to your new region code.
  • Put all the regions you want to be grouped under this new regions && grouping section.
  • In the region include file remove the old region codes and add the new one.
  • Recache.

(most common mistake is people not recaching.. most changes in a scenario won't be shown til after a recache, also I suggest making an entirely new scenario file rather than editing the old one of course)

For a better illustration give me the country you want to create/ an unused region code for it. And a list of the region codes for each region you want included in it.

I'm making a 1984 mod for myself and a few friends. I also have another mod but I'm using the easier of the two first
So it's divided into:
Region Code:(2689)Oceania: All of North & South America (Greenland), All of Oceania region, Papua New Guinea, Iceland, United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Region Code:(880)Eurasia: Ussr, All of Europe excluding: Iceland, United Kingdom, and Ireland, Mongolia, and Turkey.
Region Code(1984):Eastasia: China, Japan, Pakistan, Nepal, North and South Korea, Afghanistan, and Iran.
They are at war throughout their history, but do not attack one another directly so the solution is to divide the remaining areas into three warring colonies with well protected capitals (African Oceania territory would be their colony).
Image
I also tried what you suggested but I have no idea how to recache and I've tried looking everywhere on the forums.
I did however manage to have Oceania pop up in the selection box for the sandbox. However the game didn't start nor
did any of the countries outside of North America listed under Oceania disappear from selection such as Australia. If it helps I'll upload
the very early alpha files (They only contain a very basic Oceania). Other than that your advice saved me a fair deal of time.

Okay there is a limit to the number of regions in a single group.. honestly dont remember what it is.

So what your going to have to do with regions that large is use groups within groups.

For instance.
Create a new region North america with a new region tag.

In that group you would add.
Mexico
Canada
US
Some caribean islands or whatnot.

Then under you new nation your going to include that grouping(north america).
+ whatever other large groupings you have for that nation.

If you haven't checked out the wiki that would be a good place for you to start..

Lots of useful links in this thread as well. viewtopic.php?f=65&t=18602 theres even a link to an OLD thread where balt goes step by step on helping someone add a new nation. (its rather convoluted though so read through it a few times  ) Its actually similar in that the step by step he does is adding Lots of regions into a few super large regions.

Actually I fixed that problem just now, but now there are three new random countries:Pacific Islands, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
I don't know how they formed. Any suggestions? Also I still can't start the game the thing just freezes after I press launch game.

Check your region include/csv for their region codes it could be any number of things.
As to the game "freezing" is that before or after building a cache? If its before.. then its not freezing its building a cache. Once its cached it must be moved from the save game folder to the cache folder and renamed properly.
If your sure your cache is built and properly moved/renamed then its the 2989/889 issue. lol.
2989 and 889 are hardcoded to be the sphere leaders they must exist. (not that it matters for gameplay if your not playing sphere victory conditions but it matters to the coding)

Do you mean actually exist on the map or just in the code. Either is fine and pretty easy to fix.

on map. just delete the USSR and USA and change your coding for 2 of your super nations to those numbers.
prob. best making oceania 2989 and eurasia 889

Don't forget you may have to redo those groupings depending on how you had it set up before.

http://www.supremewiki.com/index.php/Cr ... ache_Files build your cache file after all that. I haven't updated that link yet but just forget the GC parts of the file extensions.

Alright good news and bad new.
Good news it works and once again thank you.
Bad news turns out some areas that are in Central America along with all the pacific claims of Oceania are registered under the U.N.
and I still have troubles with Northern Ireland and Scotland. After I finish these I should be fine and would be able to finish everything
except for the colonies.
Edit: I guess for the break aways I'll just randomly smash buttons unless you have a good theory.
Edit Again: I think it might have hit the area limit as you said before South America isn't included either.

Try removing some of the regions from the grouping and take them + the missing regions and add it to a new unused number group. Then add that group to the larger nations grouping.

As for northern ireland and scotland. You probably used the wrong U.K. code in the groupings. Find the U.K. region ID that has those regions you want under its grouping.(1399 i believe is the one that has all the U.K holdings). Without looking at your code I can only take a guess at the particular causes and suggest the most likely things.

Any chance of a public release of this mod? I'd love to see it.

He released it awhile back it has its own thread here

viewtopic.php?f=65&t=19401

Fair warning though.. he hasn't been on so I haven't sent him a new copy of the flag file, Just means you'll be missing south sudans flag if you install his mod after the modern world. Can fix it by reinstalling my modern world mod after you install his(which includes his flags + all mine)
