as topic says, i have been wondering myself there are a couple of sounds tracks in that folder that are probably never been used ingame,

i have been playing this game for a while now and played almost every single country (yes even Andorra that puny country with absolutely no resources :P which i even gave up on because it was impossible)

anyways back to the soundtrack thingy,

they are named like this:
generic one: (which is used while playing as israel.)

generic two: i have no idea

generic three: i think this one is played when a colony is liberated? not sure on this one

battle one: i have never heard this one ingame (i have to admit this one sounds kinda catchy ;)

battle two: never heard this one either but i do hear its somewhat amercanish i guess but the other tone that is within it i really have no idea
when this one is played either.

so i got a question: to the goats (no pun intended) are you planning to add more soundtracks? or anything because the last two in the list are never heard ingame i guess, would be kinda awesome if there were more soundtracks added ;)

thats just my two cents you can have both of them for doing a great job.

if there is any poor english my apologize for that.

No sound changes are planned for update 3. Past that, no idea...

Some unused data files intended for possible future use are also included. Putting them on disc reduces patch sizes if we make use of them later on.

Balth, what would I have to do (mod) to hear a specific song (sound file) while playing specific country. For example, if I wanted to mod a Russian anthem to play while playing USSR, or American anthem while playing USA. *(this is just for example, having song playing continuosly for couple of hours a day would drive man crazy  )

I actually did this for the MW mod just never released it(along with new splash screens and a few other bits that I left out of release versions to keep the size down). Its as simple as modifying the track associated with the country in the .CVP

you find this line under the nation.

Code:
musictrack     2

switch it to say 50, Then place your new music track in \Sounds\Music folder with all the default ones and name it.. the proper number. 50 in this example.

I may still release the Full version of the modern world with the alternate music, extra splash screen etc. but it wont be until V1.0
Actually one of the videos i released showed my version which has the splash screen and altered music tracks.. but no one commented on them i don't think so i put them as low priority for inclusion.

Just a suggestion if you plan on releasing it as a mod try to stick to royalty free stuff. (and if you find and use the tracks i've already got planned then i get to keel you til you wish i never keeled you.)

Yeah, found it there while modding the wordavail letter :D This is awesome, but is there a way of making a playlist (in alternative to "merging" let's say 5 songs into one big)?

P.S. of course on the royalties part
P.S.S. who holds royalties to national anthems? :D

Depends although usually they are held by the government but allowed free use in the public domain. Although of course this depends on the particular performance. Performances by specific artists of a national anthem is often owned by the artist themselves. (most national anthems would be far too annoying in a loop though  )

I could easily say all of them tend to get far too annoying after looping for some time, thats why I asked about "playlists"...

no way to do a play list that i am aware of,

Edit :
THIS

you could try putting multiple numbers with a comma in between and see what happens.
Does not Work

So you're going to have to splice them together if you want multiple songs.

Personally I looked for thematic music that I thought fit, was easily looped, and Didn't seem to get annoying after long bouts.

You'll need to cache to test though
