Personally i open it in notepad for editing. and open it in Catatonics unit viewer (in viewer mode, browser mode crashes in CW) as well and match up numbers to figure out the columns.Chesehead wrote:ok, so I'm trying unit modding for the first time, but all I've found is a file with a ton of gibberish and numbers. Is there any spreadsheet similar to the SR2020 spreadshit with units on the Wiki for CW? Right now this is a bit over my head and I have no clue what each number means.
For example If i want to edit hard and soft attack for a unit I open up the viewer and see that a unit has a 25 hard attack and a 24 soft attack, I then find those numbers in the units line and edit them in note pad. (the column order in the viewer are pretty much the exact same order as those in the file)
Region availability is the easiest column to find. Its the only one with letters or a *

Ok. I gave up on the program as it simply won't work when I click on the icon. I couldn't find what each numbers mean on the wiki either. :/

If you can open XLS this should help
Its just the Sr2020 spreadsheet with the Coldwar units pasted in (the headers haven't changed as you can see)
*added to the OP so i don't have to answer this again.*

Is it possible to add tech level information from unit's blueprint (first screen) to unit's pop-up menu (second screen)?

Technically yes. However, Since tech level isn't used anymore is just a useless number. Doesn't really mean anything.Mesenion wrote:Is it possible to add tech level information from unit's blueprint (first screen) to unit's pop-up menu (second screen)?

Re: Modding Q/A thread
Might be, there have been a few updates since then so its likely that any new units BG has added since I released that are missing. I don't suggest using that spreadsheet to directly mod the game.. but to get an idea of what column you need to edit in the file.number47 wrote:There is a range of units from 4089-4300 missing??Fistalis wrote:Chesehead wrote:thanks. Re: Modding Q/A thread
OK, I need help with Default.ttrx aka tech tree file. The wiki has explanation for 20 columns but there are 21 columns in there. The explanation for one of the true/false columns is missing. Does anyone know which one is missing and what is it supposed to be?
Thanks in advance!
