Honestly I'm banging my head up against a wall at this point guys.
If i do full alliances you end up with the destack/"waiting for safe path" issues.
If i do mutual protections without full Transit it reduces the destack/waiting for safe path issues popping up but makes it likely that When a friend is at war a nation will send half its military to sit as merchant marines off the coast. Both are horrible, and I have yet to find a way around these issues, both of which can ruin a game.

Maybe you should wait for a month or two (optimistic, I know :lol: ) for the update 3 to be released (again, optimistically presuming the destack/safe path issue will be solved :lol: ) and than you can implement all the events and all other things you wanted :wink:

Because depending on what Update 3 fixes will determine which direction the mod goes. So rather than fix my files either way right now (and be forced to redo them after update 3).. I'll probably leave the mod as is... and just work on other projects til update 3. Then once update 3 is released I can revisit this mod and figure out how to do it.

(also if you check out my forums you'll see only 1 person has voted for the 0.82 poll.. so Polls aren't going to help)

why dont you ask the bg team what fixes update 3 will include so you can work on your mod ?

Because they don't usually release that info until around the time they are ready to release the update. I'm not going to expect them to break this protocol for me. I'm special but not that special. :lol:

Work won't completely stop. I just won't be releasing any new versions until I can release a new version without feeling like the release is crap due to various bugs I can't work around. I can also take the time to use the files in an alternate scenario which won't be constrained by reality, so can work around the issues, or at the very least update all my other mods I've been ignoring. This is my flagship mod.. I really would like to continue to update it. But at this point I've hit a brick wall of frustration with trying to work around something I just can't fix.

Okay now that I got that little hissy fit out of the way. :cry:

We're gonna stick with mutual defenses til update 3. Its the lesser of the 2 evils. (AI wasting its units having merchant marines stand around is much better than hitting the destack bug and your game slowing to a crawl)

Now this means since I have mucked around alot in the source files its likely that until update 3 I won't add anything that requires me to recache. (I don't wanna spend days of time fixing it only to have to redo it all once update 3 arrives.)
However since I have been ravamping how the AI nations Prioritize placing its troops I will probably release 0.8e sometime in the next few days.

What do I mean by revamping how the AI nations prioritize placing its troops?
The AI will now start with some set Theatre settings. Meaning they will concentrate more on certain theatres. For example.. most EU countries aren't going to send troops off to war in asia if it means leaving them without a defense in europe.

In the same aspect.. allies/mutual defense partners will more actively place units in areas for defense, and regional allies are more likely than allies from half way across the world to commit troops to an a partners defense.(Of course Large nations have less qualms about sending large groups over seas)

Bad news is. this leads to alot of troop movement the first few weeks while allies try and figure out whos gonna defend where.

Hey, with the whole India, China Paki war I saw in the game. I am pretty sure the United States and possibly NATO would come to India's aid.

Ya that was just the begining of events.. I haven't added more yet.

Yes there is.. but none of them matter if the game becomes unplayable or is ruined due to the destack issues.

Even in the current version.. if Serbia starts war in europe.. it ends up causing 80% of EU troops to be stuck "Waiting for a safe path" for the rest of the game.
As I said I will continue to work on it.. but there are alot of changes I need to do to the source files depending on what and how things are fixed in update 3. So i'm not going to commit to doing any changes in those until I know how I need to do it. This way i'm not redoing the whole mod again come update 3.

Because honestly I've redone huge chunks of this mod 3 or 4 times to try to cope with the destack issues etc. Removing ports, changing alliances to mutual protection etc etc. I'm sick of that.. I want to set things up and be done with it instead of having to revisit the same issue over and over every 2 or 3 updates.

This is my latest "internal build".
Mainly changes how nations prioritize troop placements etc. And jacked up volatility for giggles. May still be some Issues etc.
(since I'm not doing much with the modern world until update 3 I'll just release my test builds here for those who feel adventurous)
In this build. Low = the old Normal.
Normal volatility = the Old Very high
Very High = OMG WTF is this.
Those of you looking for lots o war should like this build on very high volatilty. :wink:

Fair warning.. this build plays entirely different on high volatility. NATO nations can and will attack each other if they want, Which leads to the rest of NATO choosing one side or the other. Basically causing NATO to break into smaller factions. Also as you may expect.. the Destack issues etc are still apparent so you're likely to see some major slowdown after awhile. (which is why I'm not working on this mod much right now...)
