Cuban AAR.

This is my First AAR but I love roleplaying, this will be very heavy on the roleplay side but I hope you will all enjoy it.

All settings will be standard. World Votility High and Goal will be total score.

Objectives.

1. Make Cuba a world power.
2. Conquer the Caribbean and Central America.
3. Try to keep North Korea from falling. (may be difficult)
4. Conquer Parts of the middle east and Asia (if possible)
5.Avoid any foreign countries attacking Cuba.

A little History first.

Oct 8 1949.

Fulgencio Batista, the President of Cuba and Fidel Castro leader of the Cuban Revolutionary army died this night in a tragedy-the details of which has not been published.

According to the gentleman with him, he decreed that his successor should be an unknown man who has recently returned to the country.

His name is Ivan ‘Tiger’ Guevara, twin brother to the Famous Che Guevara who is an advocate for communist theology and countries alike. Separated at birth Ivan who will be known to all as tiger was raised in a small town near Arkhangelsk by his uncle, Molokai. He spent many a cold winter watching the naval ports nearby and wishing that he could be a captain of one of those mighty battle cruisers. So much so that at the age of 15 he broke the perimeter in the night and stowed away on the Soviet Union Battle Cruiser Molotov.

Found whilst the ship was on operations near Vadso, Norway by the ships cook stealing food, he was hidden and taught of the history of the famous October revolution. He listened with baited breath and not moving an inch while in his mind the stories played out like a film.

Eventually he got caught by the XO and was hauled before the captain Vilnius Nostavik, an instigator of the October revolution. At first the captain being known for his harsh reputation wanted to throw the child overboard and see how long he would survive in the icy waters of the White Sea. He saw a villainous streak in this child that reminded him of himself and from that moment on Tiger would become the mans adopted son, he took him on operations for the next 3 years before he decided to let the child enlist in the ranks of the Red Fleet.

Ivan loved his time and after he had completed his training was assigned to the Kirov as a gunnery operative, 2 days after being on ship he is summoned before the ships political office and questioned about his heritage. Upon mentioning his full name, the officer questioning became very shocked and leafed through many pieces of paper till he settled on one, a report of the family tree of the Guevara family. Seeing that when Guevara was born on the same day a second entry was made next to him with no name, Suddenly the man jumped out of his seat knowing he had found the missing Guevara child. At once he ordered the man to be taken to Moscow and into the depths of the Kremlin.

6 months later he was escorted out after not seeing the light of day for a long time, he was resplendent in a new uniform of grey with the rank of Commander in the Soviet navy and was given a small briefcase and an envelope with instructions. He was told to arrive at military base Tbilisi in Georgia and was told he would be taken to a secret location once there he could read his instructions.

Once he arrived at Tbilisi he was loaded onto a Soviet transport plane and it took off heading south. Or so he though after many hours of flying and 3 stops where he was not even allowed to get off the plane. He arrived at his destination. It was a tropical heat, much different to the frozen wastes of the white sea that he was used to, he stayed her for a day and was informed to open and read his instructions.

You are ordered by any means massacre to head for Moa in Cuba, there you are to link up with General Fidel Castro who operates a rebel stronghold near this town.

Pass the accompanying sealed letter to the General who will assist you with your mission which is to assassinate the President of Cuba and overthrow the government by any means nessacery.

Destroy this information. Good Luck.

Admiral Ivan Stepanovich Yumashev




With this Tiger opens his briefcase to find an old German Luger pistol, a wadge of notes and a change of clothes. He decides to change first, when he comes out he looks like a dishevelled factory worker, he swaps the briefcase with a soldier for his duffel bag and hides the pistol under his shirt, he then wanders off into the Christ Church alleyways, heading for the ocean. Upon reaching the docks, he spies an old tramp steamer that’s heading for Columbia, he barters a passage and leaves the next day. Many months at sea go by and slowly the passengers whittle down to being 3 left. Some died due to diseases others due to tragic accidents.

Upon arrival in Columbia Tiger hides on the vessel whilst the crew disembark their pitiful cargo to make a few dollars to keep themselves going, seizing the moment he rushes from his hiding place and takes the one sentry by force and then steals the ship. Steaming north towards the Panama Canal, knowing that he would never get through on his own he abandons the ship outside Balboa port and jumps ship in the dead of the night. Reaching the port authorities in Balboa, he bribes the Harbour Master who puts him on the next ship heading towards the Caribbean as a pilot, Tiger is on the atlantics side of the canal in a week and looks towards Cuba. Luckily he finds a small fishing port and manages to steal a boat and sails out towards the land of Cuba.

Unluckily he runs into some bad weather and the fishing vessel is thrown about but fortunately doesn’t founder, after 3 weeks of storms he finally sights land and heads straight for it, due to the awful weather he does not see the rocks close to shore and hits them with an almighty crunch amidships , at this point the is thrown forwards onto the bow of his vessel which snaps in 2, clinging on for dear life he blacks out and awakes to find himself on a beach in the sunshine. He has lost his briefcase but not letter that was sewn into the jacket seams.

He stumbles his way off the beach and into a cave where he rests till nightfall. At dusk he climbs up the cliff face and heads for the nearest town, spying a small shack he taps on the door to see am old man with a long white beard and thin wispy hair staring into the light after a few seconds he realises that the man is blind, the old man is defiant and unafraid. ‘If your one of Batista goons come to kill me than make it snappy, I have an appointment with my priest that you are making me late for!.’ Tiger replies, ‘ I’m not a goon, I need to know how to get to Moa.’ The man walks out of shack and points what Tiger assumes is east. ‘Head that way for 2 miles and take the dirt track that heads south follow that and it will bring you out near Moa, will take you about 3 days.’ Tiger mutters thanks and departs. He finds the track easily and sees it has become overgrown but is passable. He walks down it and sleeps when he can go no further, after 2 and a half days he wonders if the old man was lying. Taking a break he sits there and thinks what is the point, he was lied to. When suddenly a man jumps out of the tree behind him and smacks over the head knocking him out.

When he awakes he is greeted by the site of a large man with a huge black beard and smoking a cigar, the man is reading the letter that was secreted in the seam of his jacket.

The man looks up at him and stares deep into his eyes, after a moment he introduces himself as General Fidel Castro of the Cuba Revolution Army. Tiger smiles as he realises he has arrived at his destination, the 2 men spends many days planning how to overthrow the government, Castro talks of open rebellion whilst Tiger has a more delicate plan.

Fast Forward to the present moment in Batista’s bedroom, Tiger has just assassinated the president and Castro stands there with him, Tiger demands his loyalty stating that he’s the perfect man to lead the country in these new uncertain times, Castro attempts to protest but is stabbed in the back by Tiger, he holds in his hands a forged will signed by Batista declaring him the new Leader of the Cuban Military Congress.

When the morning comes round and the members of his cabinet arrive for their mid-morning meeting, he sits in the presidents chair and informs them of the tragedy showing the document giving him power. He forces all the ministers to sign an oath of loyalty to him, those that don’t are removed and shot as traitors to the nation. Only 5 ministers are left, they all swear loyalty to him prefering life to the firing squad, he also orders that new specialist advisors be brought in from the Soviet Union. Writing a letter to Admiral Ivan Stepanovich Yumashev , he informs that he has overthrown the government and taken power himself as he believes it is the only way to make the coutry safe.

At 2pm he walks out onto the Balcony of the presidential office which overlooks the square where the residents’ of Havana are gathered, he gives a rousing speech informing of the grave issues currently facing the world and the dangers of capitalism, he says to the crowd that sweeping reforms will be made to stabilise the country and the economy and make Cuba a great nation and for to be feared throughout the world. The crowd cheers and he smiles, he has a wondrous task to perform and he feels elated, with that he goes back into his office and sits at his huge desk and pulls the current roster for the countries military forces and sighs, he knows this will be a problem, he decides straight away to conscript the forces of the Cuban Revolutionary army into the regular forces as to bolster his support and avoid any additional revolts.

After 1 week the advisors from the Soviet Union arrive and are straight away given positions in the Cabinet. Shown below is the list of ministers.

Tiger addresses the ministers.

Gentleman, a grave issue has descended upon this day, I have been going over the figures and reports for the past week and I can not understand how the situation has come to this, we do not have enough resources to sustain our population of 5 million people. Why is this so Alejandro?

Sir, we were never given the budget we required, we were only given enough to keep our current productions running, I never knew were the rest went.

Then perhaps Mikhail you can inform me what happened to the extra money because im sure there would have been enough extra funds to help our population.

I hate to say this sir but Batista frittered the money away on luxuries and on many private trips to the United States, he also was attempting a lot of research which a lot of money went into and he was prospecting for oil but we had no luck.

What kind of research was he performing Doctor Petrv.

It was not a lot productive, he wanted us to make animals that we could use as weapons with biological diseases. We didn’t get very far. He also wanted us to find a way of keeping him young forever.

You mean he wanted you to create a youth potion?

I regret to say that is true sir.

Well it can stop right now, I want you to put your research to something more productive, we need to bring our army up to the terms of the best available soviet equivalents, General what is our force like?

We are far behind the world, a lot of equipment left over from the 20’s and 30’s. Very little is actually ours and is from trades from over countries. In actual fact the equipment is actually so different that some are even in different languages.

Well we shall keep it for now. Mikhail how much available funds do we have in our treasury?

Currently we have about 55mil in the treasury.

Right firstly Alejandro I want to arrange for a shipment of construction goods, we will be embarking on a huge building project, first thing is to provide food for the people. Also we need to look towards profitable commodities so I want geological surveys done as well, I want them done as soon as possible. Alejandro to work, find the most fertile place to build some farms.

Sir if you want to build then we shall have our funds depleted and I request to source alternative ways to increase our treasury.

If your talking about loans then I would rather we didn’t have to. Only if it is utterly nessacery then yes you have my permission.

Vladimir I want you prepare the forces for my inspection in a month, make sure the funds are distributed between fairly between the forces and look for possible easy conquests. I would also like an invasion plan of central America to be drawn up.

Mikhai how is our intelligence service.

We have some good services and a total of 50 spies ready to do your bidding.

Excellent currently I want you to look to the home front and make sure that the borders are secure and that any potential uprisings are put down quietly.

Nikolai we need to cut current social funding at the moment and focus on the most important factors, infrastructure being one of them, I will inform you of the full budget you have and what to spend it on.

Laikia, Leonid, Boris prep your forces and I want a full list of your respective forces and strengths.

December 5th 1949.

Tiger was sitting in his office enjoying a nice cigar when Production minister Alejandro burst in with a report.

‘President ! President!’

He cries trying to catch his breath.

‘What is it Alejandro?’

‘Look at the report, we have just got a new batch of farms completed and they are about to start producing foodstuffs to keep our populace going, but also check the bit at the back, we got the geological surveys back and I think you would want to see this.’

Tiger breezes through the report detailing a few problems in building the farms and then the completion of their construction and the new managers that have been hired to run them. Then he comes across the geological survey showing a lot of resource points.

‘What commodity am I looking at here Alejandro?’

‘OIL! Sir OIL!!’

‘Oil you say…hmmm.’

‘Alejandro this will be our next action. I am acutely aware that our electricity us all produced by petrol driven power plants, not only that but it is needed for many over things that’s why once we have got enough farms to sustain our populace. After that has done you have me express orders to build enough oil wells to manage our needs and then I want you to build more so we can export to the world and make millions from the needs of the world. Thank you for informing me Alejandro’.

June 25th 1950.

Tiger was sitting in his office reading the latest reports from the state department. North Vietnam was suffering against the hands of France and South Vietnam, UN advisors reckoned it would be a matter of time before they would be defeated, reading through report after report he suddenly came across one report that caught his attention, he had been glancing over the reports not fully reading what was written until this one. It was simply entitled War in Korea. Upon reading the details, he realised North Korea had declared war on South Korea and was preparing to launch a full scale offensive against them with the help of their allies the USSR.

Immediately he shouts for an aide, ‘Get me Vladimir Stephanov and Mikhai Kalinin’.

Within a hour both appear at his desk.

‘Gentleman I have grave news, there is war in Korea and I have decided that we are to personally assist them in their fight to rid the South of the tyranny and oppression that they are under.

‘A very wise decision sir and how are we to do this?’

‘ I have been looking over our forces Vladimir and I have decided to send every unit we have in reserve to them to assist them in their struggle.’

‘Sir, I must express my concerns, doing this will leave us venerable and should the US decide to invade we will be defeated before we could mount a proper defence.’

‘I understand your concerns but this is the option I have chosen and this is the way things will go. Make the arrangements Vladimir.’

‘Yes sir’

With that Vladimir leaves the office with a look of bewilderment on his face, he is unsure of how the President would even consider ordering such a thing but he goes off to make the arrangements.

‘Mikhai, we need to know what we our fellow ideologists are up against over there, I want your best spies on the ground to feed us Intel and you have permission to order any sabotage missions that you see fit.’

‘Certinately sir, they shall be on their way within the hour.’

‘Thank you Mikhai, keep me informed’.

With that Mikhai leaves and he paces over to the window and stares out onto Havana harbour, he lights himself a cigar and contemplates the decision he has just made, was this the right move with the US being so close to them and the might to roll them over with a giant steamroller with not another thought.

He convinced himself that he had done the right thing as the North Koreans were fighting a just and righteous war.

‘All I hope is that they succeed’ he said aloud.

Oct 10th 1950.

Tiger had returned to his office from a tour of the slums of Havana's Old town, he had spoken with many people who were unemployed or old and their families could not afford to look after him, he had promised them that in time they would be looked after.

'You may be required to suffer a few more years of hardship, we will build Cuba's economy and you will see prosperity by the 60's!'

Cheers went up all around him.

He sits down again and pours himself a large vodka, and gulps it down. He sees a new report on his desk and pulls it towards himself. He can see a note from Production minister Alejandro Jose Mucha.

Esteemed President.

We have this week completed 4 oil wells that have begun producing and current outlook for capacity is good.

So far we are able to produce 3 times the amount of petroleum required to sustain our economy.

With regards to previous comments I have ordered the managers to produce as much as petroleum to begin exportation of the resources to provide a much needed source of income.

Tiger slouched back into his nicely upholstered leather chair, he thought to himself excellent that’s one issue resolved, next the energy crisis and with that he swallowed the last of the vodka and closed his eyes, he drifted to a brief afternoon sleep.

September 13th 1950

Tiger sat in his office reading the reports from his ministers.

Raul from the state department says they are not having much luck cultivating alliances.

Mikhail informed that treasurey was steady, income from exports is just covering our outgoings which some days outpaces our income.

Alejandro the production manager informed all commodities are now sufficient enough to cover the needs of our country apart from Industry Goods and Electricity, but we are working to resolve the latter proplem.

At this point Doctor Vitali Petrov and Military minister Vladimir Stephanov enter Tiger’s office.

‘Gentleman, how are we? Intrest you ina Vodka?’

Both Agree to join Tiger in a drink.

‘Nostrovia’

‘Slow un‘So what are we to report, Doctor Petrov how is your research progressing?’

'Ufortunately presidente, we are unable to make any significant breakthroughs at this point in time and may not for quite a while.’

‘This is not want I want to hear, why is this?’

‘Unfortunately we do not have the adequate facilities to help our research progress.’

‘OK, I shall look towards providing you more adequate facilities within the next year’.

‘Vladimir tell me what is happening in the military circles’.

‘We regret to inform that the combined forces of NATO have defeated the just forces of North Korea.’

‘And what of the forces we sent over to assist?’

‘Unfortunately we were unable to return any units from the Korea Penisular’.

‘Who was mostly to blame?’.

‘The USA was heavily involved sir, poking their nose in a civil war where they don’t belong.’

‘Damn them, Vladimir we must take back that land, in time of course. Plan the invasion of Korea for future years, also I want you to plan for the invasion of Haiti, we need to expand our control in the Caribbean and that is the best first step we can have.’

‘I completely agree with your Presidente, I shall start the plans right away and will have them on your desk by the end of the year.’

‘Excellent, Vladimir. Thank you for your time gentleman, have a good day.’

I like it! I'll watch this AAR closely!

How the hell do use nukes? Me and a mate were trying to work it out but couldn't, got as far as loading it and sending the plane to drop it but then it would not drop the nuke.

Little help anyone?

In Brazilian IAAR as Pascoal Humberto de Souza Branco

October 13th 1951.

Tiger was sitting down to lunch with his production minister Alejandro Jose Mucha. They were enjoying a liberally light lunch of selected meats, breads and salads, all wash down with a small shot of Vodka, the presidents favourite drink.

‘Tell me Alejandro how is the power plant project coming, have we finally caught up with the demand?’

‘Well not exactly presidente. We are slightly behind.’

‘Slightly behind eh, I trust you are doing everything in your power to make up for lost time. You should know that I don’t have much patience with regards to missed deadlines.’

‘I regret to inform you sir, that it may be sometime before we can catch up.’

At this point Tiger gets up and walks to his desk, he unlocks one of the lower drawers and takes out a case, in it is a well preserved antique rifled pistol from the Napoleonic wars.

‘This was my uncles, when he died I had it sent to me, when it was made in 1851 it was reputed to be the most accurate pistol of its age and was accurate at 50 yards and sometimes even further.’

Tiger begins to load the gun.

‘You better start explaining quickly what the issue is and if I find your explanation unsatisfactory then we shall have to make an example of you.’

‘Please presidente, I am 100% committed to our country and to making it great but the issues are outside my control, we are unable to produce or import enough Industrial goods to continue the building projects, I need thousands of tons of goods and all I get is hundreds, then we need to send some of those goods to our consumer factory plants to keep them going, we just simply do not have the required goods and this extends the deadlines for the builds to double sometimes even triple what they would normally be, even with the help of army engineers we cannot make things happen any faster.’

Tiger by this time has got back to the table and has placed the gun in the middle between himself and Alejandro, his production minister and is leaning on the table with a look of despair.

‘How much do we currently produce?’

‘We have 3 mid-sized industrial plants located throughout our country and we are importing as much as we can and are still trying to supply our consumer plants with enough goods to keep them running, we have 3 mid-sized plants and 1 large scale plant.’

‘Ok, we can not keep everything going.’

Tiger sits down and shuts his eyes and hums to himself, Alejandro says nothing he glances towards the door wondering if he tried escaping would he make it out of the door before being shot, probably he thought but then he would be hunted and killed for treason so he decided not to run, he did wonder what the hell Tiger was doing though.

All of a sudden there was a shout from his presidente.

‘I GOT IT!’

‘Got what sir?’

‘Alejandro here is what I want you to do, you are to put the power plant project on hold, you will then shut down all consumer goods plants and we will import as best as we can, then you are to build a large scale industrial goods plant and put all available construction goods and workers towards the building of it, take those from the consumer goods plants as well.’

‘I am to shut down the consumer goods plants? But sir we make 3 million a day from those plants, are you sure you want to?’

‘Yes Alejandro, it is the only way I can see that we can get this project going again, once that industrial plant is built then I want you to work with Vladimir Stephanov to increase our supply chain along the Island. I want supple depots based in strategic locations which I’m sure he will have already identified, once this is done you can resume the power plant project.

‘This is an exceptionally risky idea sir, are you sure you want to take this course of action.’

‘Yes, Alejandro I am sure, now I believe lunch is finished. Don’t you have some work you need to be doing?’

‘Yes Presidente and thank you for lunch.’

Tiger sat down and picked up a roll, ripping it in half he though to himself, what I have just done could tear this country in 2. God I hope this works, he then sat there and went through his personal escape plan should anything go wrong, he knew he had enough money stashed to get away.

November 28th 1953

Tiger was sitting at his desk looking through the latest diplomatic reports from Raul Castro informing him of the current state of relations in the world.

He noted that hostility towards Cuba was still high but they were making some progress, notably in Columbia where Raul had noted that even though they had made a lot of agreements with Columbia they were close to making a formal alliance with the country and with a few more aid donations they would be able to announce the alliance.

During this point Tiger received a visit from Vladimir Stephanov, Military Advisor.

‘Good afternoon Presidente, I trust your day has been good.’

‘The day has been progressing well, I believe we are striding towards our goals well’.

‘I am glad to hear that Presidente.’

‘To what do I owe the pleasure of your company Vladimir? Drink?’

‘Please, we have something that I think you should see sir.’

With this Tiger is presented with a dossier of photos, showing just outside the coastal waters of Santiago De Cuba.

‘There has been a British presence there for the past year to one degree or another with one transport vessel or more and at least one battle cruiser, after much investigation we have learnt it to be the British Battle Class design, we have the specs there for you as well’.


‘Interesting, what do they do?’.

‘Nothing, they just maintain a presence, sir.’

‘Unusual, what is your professional opinion.’

‘I believe they are just observing the world, you know the British like to poke their noses in the business of the entire world as they claim illegal bases in over a third of the worlds population.’

‘That is true, do we have a presence in the area?’.

‘Yes sir, we have a Tacoma class frigate that has been maintaining a presence in the area and shadowing their forces about 3 months after we discovered that British fleet there.’

‘Excellent Vladimir, I am glad to have you on my staff, with you I know that I can just let you get on with the minimal amount of oversight. How is the Haiti plans coming.’

‘They are going good, we are just waiting for the amphibious assault vehicles to be researched and built and then the assault will go ahead, we already have 3 battalions of paratroopers standing by to assist the assault as well.’

‘Excellent keep me informed of the details Vladimir.’

With that Production manager Alejandro comes in and he has a massive smile on his face.

‘Afternoon Alejandro, what are you so pleased about?’

‘We have resolved the energy crisis and have partially solved the supply issue.’

‘Finally, it has only taken you 3 years to resolve this, be glad you still have your job Alejandro. What’s the issue with the supply, you informed me that it was only partially solved?’

‘Well we have faltered sir due to a shortage of military goods with which to finish the bases. We are doing our best to rectify the issues but there are currently a shortage of military goods on the world market at the moment.'

‘OK, another excuse, well find a way to resolve this issue Alejandro and soon or you will be losing your job and more. Do you understand me Alejandro?’

‘Yes Presidente.’

With that Alejandro leaves the office slightly sweating, all the time Vladimir has been listening to this conversation, he nods an agreement with the comment that Tiger made to Alejandro. He has poured his leader a glass of Vodka and placed it on his desk and poured himself one.

‘Your words were inspirational sir, we may need to make an example of him to inspire the rest of the cabinet into action, a toast to a great Cuba!’

‘Nostrovia! Thank you for those words Vladimir, he has been a disappointment to me since he took office and he came with such a reputation and praise from high places but he has just not delivered and I hate to contemplate it but I he has not responded to any other words of encouragement, we may need to have him removed from the regime. Is there still that old concentration camp at the barracks of Santiago de Cuba?’

'Yes sir, it is a little run down as we no longer use it but it is still there.’

‘Re-open it and make it useable, we may soon enough require use of it.’

'Certainty sir, I shall make the arrangements straight away.’

With that Vladimir departs the office of the President and goes to make the arrangements. Tiger sits at his desk and places his head in his hands, he shakes his head.

‘I wish I didn’t have to do this he says.’

With that he opens a drawer in the middle of his desk and unlocks a hidden safe contained, he then draws out a piece of paper and stares at it, he is holding a pre-written death warrant for Alejandro Jose Mucha, currently his production minister. With a heavy heart and a quick flourish, he signs it and then drains his glass of Vodka, ‘I hoped it wouldn’t come to this’ he says to no one in particular.
