Event 37 Still broken /caps /bold /underline /rage

Post by Fistalis »

as per title. Event 37 isn't functioning properly. Always defaulting to the number of the catagory. IE.

Code: Select all

 5,any #
will always default to priority

Code: Select all

 5,5
.

Code: Select all

1,#
will always default to

Code: Select all

1,1
.

|O

That means that brilliant event you have for the U.S. to concentrate on space race in the vanilla campaign.. only makes them reduce their research spending since the event is bugged.

Just spent 12 hours trying to figure out what i was doing wrong again only to realize its still bugged, second time I did that.

I thought event ID 37 was 'minister priority.' Different event?

You are correct, it doesn't properly set the minister priority. It sets the wrong one as I explained above.

For example say you want an AI nation to build up their military capabilities that would be 5,4,1
What you get is 5,5,1 aka reduce military spending.

or say you want them to work on the arms race 5,27,1
what do you get? 5,5,1 aka reduce military spending..

In the campaign they have the U.S. start concentrating on the space race about the time kennedy comes into office.
which is 1,27,1
what they get is 1,1,1 which is... bum bum bummmm reduce technology spending.

etc etc etc

Its likely reading i0 for both entries and ignoring i1 all together.. I pointed it out before but figured i'd poke at it again. Its likely that since its barely used in the campaign priorities went to other things. But i've tried each update to use it extensively only to find out its still broken, so i get to nerd rage a little. :x

Nuttin wrong with Nerd Rage.

I'm still trying to figure out what all the codes mean, esp. for the files we have no guidance at all on.

most of it is documented in one way or another.. and those that aren't tend to be legacy stuff that doesn't work anymore but was left in after engine changes. But thats a topic for another thread.

What list are you using to determine the value for the second variable?

deptprior.csv

*hint* its in the INI folder

I assume it is correct since it cross references with the 2 times you guys used event 37 in the campaign.(only you don't get the desired results I imagine kennedy saying.. "Stop all this research nonsense its wasting too much money" and Mao saying.. "reduce our military we have too many troops" which makes me feel better about it being broke  )

Yeah, I did some digging and came the conclusion that was the file you were using. I've updated the wiki page so the scripted events page lists the deptprior as the source for the ID and I've defined some of the file's data a bit more. We're looking into it...

Funny Fisty.

Side note, on the events link, shouldn't the second item read "...days after eventtime" and not "after eventid"?
