I am motoring along as USSR in 1950 and was horribly surprised when a couple of my third world USSR-leaning allies went non-aligned. The shock was worse when CHINA started drifting towards the USA.
Now, I thought that by distributing the odd gift of money or weapons I would keep everyone happy but this is not the case, it seems.
Is there any way of getting early notice of such treachery?
What is a good way of stopping the rot?
cheers
Kim

There are items in the game that depend on you, and there are items in the game that act on historical dates.

For example, even if you are playing as China, and are leaps and bounds in front of the US and USSR in the space race, Russia will still launch sputnik (historical date), and claim the first satellite..

Sphere partners do the same thing. Just hang in there and eventually your global dominance will win them over.

That happened in 1950? Did you make any additional treaties with them, like free trade and criminal extradition (that might help)? Or it might be because you are researching something strongly opposed by the world, some of USSR aligned turned neutral in my game in 1953, after I started to research something Nuclear and strongly opposed. Not sure about how aggressive diplomacy works on Theater Control as well... try to check those things
