It's 1955 and there are no missile designs available, I have Ballistic Missile tech researched, but no unit designs are available to research, nor are they available to buy from other nations. I am still new to CW and this is the farthest into the timeline I've played, so not sure if they will become available after a certain time, or this is a glitch. I looked in the manual, which stated there was no missile capability at the beginning of the Cold War. Okay, then shouldn't I have the capability after researching the techs, and at least be able to see the designs other nations have (even if they require further researching)?

It's no glitch, they will become available once you research the required tech (there are many). BG added some basic designs that are buildable "worldwide" so any country is given the chance to develope their missile program :D
As for the seeing the designs of other nations, the answer is no, you can't see the designes that are behind un-researched the "Era tech" so always make a priority to research "Era techs" because they are the ones that open doors to new designs and techs.

47 brings up a great point, and one of the things I love about this game. Yeah, you can push ahead and get F4 Phantom II's in the 1950's, but the cost comes somewhere else (e.g., you dont have IRBMs or modern subs).

That is what makes a game great--plenty of options for the player.

Nope you can have both if you have enough research slots. I built 17 of them and ended up just researching all the unit designs I had available whilst I was waiting for 2 era techs to finish researching.

I would like to see research centers become more expensive to run as you build more...(or less efficient).just saying.

[_]OT .. I'll probably do a revamp of how long it takes to research techs in an "enchanced" cold war scenario after update 3. Since thats the only solution I can offer as a modder.

Even so with say 17 or 42 or 100 research centers in the cold war scenario there are a couple of what I like to call bottleneck technologies. Not sure what they are right off the top of my head, but basically you can have everything up to that point researched and be waiting at least 1 year for those techs to finish. IIRC those techs are somewhere about the time you are about to put a man on the moon.

Maybe the solution is to have the AI be coded to build more research centers and actually use them. The non-military construction AI seems to be rather timid when it comes to actually building anything especially when compared to the construction some players use (or me at least).
