What could be implemented into an expansion pack?

Post by goulash »

I think this game is getting fine tuned and it wont be long till the last few bugs are ironed out and the AI wars etc are giving players a pretty good challenge.

My questions / discusion would be as follows should this game ever get an expansion:-

What could be implemented into an expansion and what would you like to see implemented into one?

Whatever the era this expansion would be, i'd like to see some Licencing going into SR rather than purchasing design (like its working in hearts of iron 3 for instance).

So basically it would also be to help AI get better unit when they can just research design usually on their own, because as far i know i have never seen any AI in SR buying design from another AI, but just buying units time to time when they are offered.

What always impressed me since SR2010 was the detailed weapons systems and stats in the game. However, most of the time it comes down to one blob of units attacking another due to high unit counts and laziness on the part of the player.

I don't mind spending time organizing my units, but the pay-off isn't there when the battles start.

If there was a way to incorporate a more detailed combat tactical subsystem, my wallet would be out in a minute.

difficult to expand on a game with such a comprehensive scope

hard to justify an expansion vis-a-vis an update unless you do something drastic like turn the clock back 10-20 years as was suggested

I refuse to venture a guess until BG states we have reached a point of feature lockdown with vanilla. (they just added annex etc in the last patch so no telling what/if any new features are planned for a future update)

assuming the game is polished, there is nothing wroth with expansion packs. companies aren't going to make money if they just free DLC constantly.

I fully support an expansion pack going back a decade or so, most of the things required such as research, units are already in the system and wouldn't need a lot of expansion on, esspecially compared to a full game. So it would make a good income to expense ratio for BG I would assume. Although I've begun some research for a joint mod with fistalis to do exactly this......

IMO an expansion should start in 1970's, the later period of cold war.

how long did BG wait before 2020 had an expansion?

as for the start in the 70's that could work, or an alternate 1989 version. just hope they do have an expack

I hope they add something where I can force people to accept peace. Like when my ally Israel attacks Egypt I wish after they take the Sinai I could force them and the Egyptians to accept peace. That way in some regard history is better replicated. I also wish I could force nations to accept peace, like when I played as Iraq and replicated the Iran/Iraq war I wish I could have take the territory Saddam wanted and then force the Iranians to accept peace as I had the superior military and was supported by the US, most of Europe and even the Soviets.
