"Aimless Flyers"...the Case of the Soviet, Bulgarian & Czech Airmen"
Sounds like a great novel, heh?
How about Czech C-47 and Bulgarian Ju-52s - joined by their Soviet C-47 comrades -
flying aimlessly in circles - generally around Hex X979 Y081 (as the rough center point) on the Karelian Peninsula.
Playing USSR, Sandbox, and this began @ mid-Oct 49 and continues into late-month.
Tried to get Soviet C-47s to return to an airbase east of Moscow - generally failed. Two of
the three units continue to circles 2-3 hexes south of the above hex.
Need to get them all to return "home".
Thanks for looking at.

Was this in 7.2.2 or in the update 3 testing version?

As of Oct 29th...following aircraft are involved in the aimless flying, joined now by a Polish transport unit:geminif4ucorsair wrote:Update 7.2.2....using Steam download ATM.Balthagor wrote:Was this in 7.2.2 or in the update 3 testing version?
* Czech: 1st and 2nd Transport (C-47), and 4th Transport (Ju-52) unit;
* Bulgarian: 1st and 2nd Transport (Ju-52) units
* Polish: 1st Transport (C-47)
What appears to be the center of the flying circle is X979 Y080 for the Czech, Bulgarian & Polish units.
Also still flying in similar manner are four Russian transport units:
* 7th, 8th, 17th, and 24th Transport (C-47) units.
Center of their flying circle is X978 Y086.
Thanks.

I've seen this a lot since release when playing as USSR. Warsaw Pact member transport aircraft drawn to that area like bugs to a light. I figured they were just giving tours of the birthplace of the Revolution.

This should be fixed in Update 3. Should be retested after that is released.

Will do...thanks.Balthagor wrote:This should be fixed in Update 3. Should be retested after that is released.
Of further note:
I now attribute this to defense Alliance condition between some the Eastern European allies and USSR.
However, this has been carried to an extreme in recent games - both single and multi-player (when one is playing
USSR and other USA).
Another example of the extreme tendency of allies of the USSR to send military forces to its shores.....
in a current game:
Example: Saudi Arabia is an ally of the USSR, and in early-1950, Saudi Arabia sent some two dozen Merchant Ships fully
loaded with troops to Russia's Far East district...[how embarrassing!].
My view is that the AI programming senses a 'weakness' in its allies defense force and is responding by sending military
forces to the region....
....since Players have no control of the military forces - or the production of military units - of their allies [as advocated with
good reason, on the Forum by various players], this is an extremity within the game that needs having it's "head chopped off".
Some Programming reconsiderations are in order.
