I've been bugging you about false flag attack options for espionage forever..
For instance... you send spies to do a sabatoge attack on the U.K and try to make it look like it was the USSR that did it.
If you fail.. you would lose relations with U.K and the USSR both and they would both gain CB towards you.(as per failing an espionage act against each)
If you succeed the U.K would gain CB against the USSR and there would be reduced relations between the two neither would have any idea of your involvement.(as if the USSR had performed an espionage act against the UK)
It should of course be harder to succeed than a normal sabotage.
For the truly diabolical you could perform false flag attacks on your self.. succeeding would give you CB on the nation you blamed.. failing would reduce your DAR and MAR.
(ya i know you guys will probably not implement it but i still get to bug you about it )

Re: False flag attacks
Would love this. Hate sitting around for 5 years waiting for something to happen and then have the game crash as usual, at least have something to do inbetween.

Don't worry about the crash ... BG games are very stable, they will find and fix the issue...
Now, unit training also give the player something to pass the time .... Just saying....

You can say that 9/11 was a false flag as well but im not about to start getting into the facts about that incident here. ( unless someone wants me to lol )
But my main point is that Countries for centuries have created false flag attacks ( Commit an atrocity against your self and claim your enemy did it to get your population to go to war with them, or just make it all up and try to fool your population to going to war.) False flags are also widely used to keep conflict in a region your trying to manage by keeping groups fighting with each other ( divide and conquer ) by having your people ( group A ) go and dress up as members of group B and have them go and attack group C to get Groups B and C fighting with each other while you sit on the sidelines and not have to worry about them coming together and going against you.
Another incident that was a false flag attack was when Hitler fire bombed his own Parliament building ( the Reichstag ) and claimed that Communist terrorists did it, and used the incident to get his police state in.

Re: False flag attacks
I would love to have an ability for special forces units like the Green Berets or Spetznaz to go and demolish structures in enemy territory using false flag tactics, to wage a clandestine war against a foe without declaring war, maybe even frame some other party for the deeds.
In Civilization 4 you had privateer units (essentially mercenary pirates) that you could build. They could attack an enemy freely during peacetime without showing what nationality they belonged to, so you could raid your enemy´s shipping at will.
Maybe you could have a unit property for special forces units, that you could put in the .units file. A tag which would make the unit a "black ops" unit which would operate under a false flag, so you could send the unit into enemy territory without incursion penalties and declarations of war. These units could demolish unguarded facilities and incite rebellions etc. These units would not have the power to fight enemy regular forces head on so they would need to stay hidden. If the unit attacked a facility, then there would be a random chance that one of your enemies would be framed for the attack.
The idea of giving yourself CB by framing some other nation for an attack is completely realistic. The Germans used such an incident to frame the Polish for starting hostilities in WW-2 as did the Soviets with Finland.
