this should have been put into the game. you cant have a wargame without the use of waypoints.

ctrl+left click anyone?

next patch could it be implement? this should be a fairly simple thing to do, george being a very good programmer and all .

I've asked for this for years, but I can tell you that it's not on the list for update 3.

George says there are other features that are higher on his priority list and right now I agree, it won't be part of update 3. But I'm already looking at our total update path to see where I'd like to suggest it be added.

As much as you and I would really like to have waypoints, the demand for it has never really been enough to really push the issue, even I have to concede that. Currently if you look around the forum there is much more interest in us tackling larger issues such as AI improvements and diplomacy improvements. Waypoints would be really nice, but we can't do everything...

you know in rts games like age of empires or empire earth you had the option to basically give a unit(s) a move command that when you hold down shift then click again the unit(s) would move to the first waypoint then move to the second?

well you could do it in this game but you would use ctrl instead of shift.

ex 1. you select tank 1 and order it to move to a first waypoint while holding ctrl. then left click on a second hex without holding the ctrl button. that gives the unit (tank 1) orders to move to the first hex (doing the usual, attacking units on the way (with the occasion of the unit getting below the reccomended health which then retreats), and when it gets to that hex it moves on to go to the second hex.

ex 2. you select two or more units and click on a hex while holding the shift key (to make them move to the very same hex) and the ctrl key. then you release the shift key (because when the units get there they will have arrived at the same hex therefore not needing to keepholding it.) while still holding the ctrl key, and click on a second hex. then you release the ctrl button and right click on a enemy unit ordering the units to attack this unit on the third waypoint.

(you can only do the more advanced options (besides the air/sea transport because when it unloads it can go ahead and start moving, and the attack button) on the last click. (the program senses you still have the ctrl key pressed down and dosnt allow you to click the more advanced button, but when you realease it you get more options in which to order.)

(in the case the unit that it was ordered to terminate is terminated by other units besides the ones you have selected. it goes on to fufill the next order.) (if that order was the last order, it will move to the position that the unit was terminated.)

(in case that the the transports that responded to your order to air/sea transport the selected unit(s) to the selected hex are destroyed, the unit(s) will stop where they are when they receive that order)

did this in the developmental topic "unit command suggestion"

what would be the point of polling it, this isn't a do it/don't do it, no one would say "leave that optional feature out"...

It's to see how much attention the topic gets.

all i want is for this topic to get enough attention that you devs get the message that this is of a higher priority than other things...im not saying take time off of making the AI better, giving more diplomatic options, or anything else that the gamers would highly want more than waypoints.

i just want waypoints in the game without being left out like in 2010. if i have to wait so be it, but after you get done with the major things could you take the time to better the game even more.

i have made a suggestion that could work and give more options than just moving. since i have no training in coding i dont know how long it would take or if its even possible.

Having waypoints wood make sending ships along the coastline beter and being able to send units more easyly past the enemy artillery, And it opens up fore komplex manuvering in the battlefeald, encirkeling the enemy easier. As is now the unit takes the what i think is a bad whay, and i dont whan edit ROE every unit i vana send a unit on the borderline to enemy artillery, but i agree that there is more important things thene waypoints at the moment, but fore the fruture mabe.

I gotta bumb this one.. Waypoints are needed... Trying to send vehicles back to be repaired.. only to have them take the shortest route (granted I have it set on my roe) and they end up attacking other enemy units.. Generally to thier loss.. lol.. Or the ships with short legs that for some reason like to steam outside the country boundies... then I gotta spend time getting replen ships to them... when they are one hex outside my country boundry.. lol...

WAYPOINTS!!!!
