Saldanha X972 Y576 should have a airstrip and a sea pier plus a garrison unit to take in a count the naval unit and air base there.

You may want to suggest changes in the suggestions thread. Especially base locations.

I am bumping this up. I still think RSA should be NATO leaning. At least until the arms embargo.

I've noticed that South Africa declares war on Angola in 1962 and gets over run by Portugal.

Actually, it gets overrun by NATO forces, Portugal plays a small role in that...

That's unrealistic, South Africa declared war on the communist regime of Angola in 1972 and both NATO and Portugal were not involved except in giving covert aide to South Africa to help fight the Angolan/Cuban communist.

This war doesn't represent the one you are talking about...this is a war between SAR and Portuguese colony Angola. Current game setting allowes to much allied intervention in colony wars. There are few of us that wanted a different setting but there are other priorities like destack bug that need to be resolved first, than hopefuly, proxy warfare (colony wars) will be adjusted. Same thing happens with North Vietnam...whole Nato comes to France aid and they kill NV quickley... :-?

It is the Proxy War rules. Basically, once warring nation (N Vietnam or France, for example) expand into an enemy country, their allies can send units in without restriction (there are a few, mostly naval and air, restrictions). The result is a NATO or WP horde in N Vietnam. I played a USA game recently and ended up fighting China after the Korean War. I mostly fought USSR units in N. China as all the Chinese were fighting France and S VN.
