There was 3 of us, we finally did get a game going, but it was so slow there was no sense in playing. We tried a different host, still creeping. We just quit.

When playing MP your limited by everyones abliity to process the info not just the "host".. and if someone can't keep up you run into sync issues. Which is why the majority of multiplayer games you will see played on Normal speed. If your on one of the limited speeds.. and its moving slower than it would in SP then most likely someones having bandwidth issues.

My experince in co-op play also showed that people tend to go into a building spree at the start of a game, this has a large slowdown effect on gameplay speed also.

We tried normal and slow speed, still a slide show.

We were third world African countries without alot of starting cash I know I did not go on a building spree. Just a day or two into the game a couple of us had war declared on us and it was funny and frustrating to watch my planes moving across the screen. Move a few hexes, pause 10 seconds, move a few more, pause.

I do find it interesting that one of the players commented that it was fast as far as he was concerned.

Has anyone played a MP game with 2 computer physically located in the same place hooked together? I am wondering if its SR based or net based.

That was me.

Been playing with Ruges mod last week or so and compared to that mod , the game was running fast. But the mod doesnt have those pauses like you described which were more agravating than the slow speed.

I have and I have the same problems we saw last night. There is a big difference in the two computers though, one is very fast compared to the other one.

Well I do have 2 Core I7's here as well as three more computers. I might have to enlist a local to help me try it on two fast machines with a direct connection. I only know one other person locally that has the game, but I will try. I would not feel right running the one copy I have on multiple machines.

Actually, if it is for the purpose of a MP lan game, go ahead. We where always big supporter's of Blizzards old "1 spawns 3" system for LAN games. Especially if they are all your systems. If not, just get your friend to uninstall when your done the game.

This is one of our reasons for not using some invasive copy protection system. We believe that showing off games for a LAN party promotes sales (as long as you don't let everyone take home a copy :) )

Well no one would be taking home a copy, as I only have one boxed game (with receipt) and its mine. I would not even know how to copy it if I wanted to. Yes, all these machines are mine, I have 5 confusers to use.

Concerning bizzard, I am not sure what that means, 1 spawn 3 systems, but I purchased 2 copies of Diablo II and expansion so that my kid and I could lan back then.

I do not have a single stolen item on any of my computers, no music no movies etc nada.

I come from a long line of people that believes if you cannot afford to get something then don't. period. The flip side of that is, we do expect to get what we paid for...

Blizzard, for the release of Starcraft and Warcraft II, used a system where from the install disk you could install the game or a "multiplayer client" using the same CD key. You could have up to 3 clients join a host using the same CD-key as the host. If you had 3 copies of the game you could do 3 installs + 3 clients for that host to do a 6 player lan game.

As mentioned, if you want to install for a lan party, we do not object.
