British Empire - The New Superpower

Post by stephen »

Because the last AAR (link) is lost. I start a new one with the same goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This are the territories that where once part of the British Empire, I will try to conquer all of them, including USA (I will have to conquer the entire country, because trying to hold half of it takes a lot of work)

The Story

After Queen Elizabeth II deceased in 2019, Prince Charles claimed the throne, but his son Prince William, having the support of the people and the armed forces, he made his own claim to the throne, saying that the United Kingdom needs a strong leader in this turbulent times.
A power struggle began between the father and the son, but in a short time Prince Charles, lacking support of the people, decided to step down, and let his son become King.
Prince William was crowned after a short time, and didn't last long until he began to impose his power over the Parliament and Government. With the help of the loyal generals from the army and some high ranking politicians he seized power over the country, dissolved the Parliament and the position of Prime Minister.
A new legislative power was set in place, called The Council of Lords, also a new government made of loyalists was created. The government responded directly to the King, as the position of Prime Minister was dissolved.
The economical policy was changed, started to increase the industrial power of the country, building new coal and iron exploitation zones, and also started a large oil extraction operation in the Norther Sea.
Also new military reforms where made, military draft was introduced, a large budget was adopted and also an massive military build up and research program started.

But The King has a secret plan that only he and a few other know about, the plan will be revealed in a short time. . . .

In July 12, 2023, a bomb detonates in Belfast, North Ireland. No casualties are reported but the British government and the King start believing that IRA is once again active in North Ireland. Next day SAS and MI5 detachments are deployed in the area to search and capture the terrorists. After a week a large stash of weapons and explosives are found in a house at the edge of Belfast. A SAS team sets a trap to capture the terrorists. After 3 hours, three men enter in the house and the SAS team move to capture them, after a short firefight, the men surrender.
After an intense interrogation at an MI5 secret location, the men confess that the armament and explosives where supplied by the Irish military.
Next day, the British government accuses the Irish government of collaboration with IRA terrorists, but the Irish deny this accusations. Seeing this, the British demand a thorough investigation by a special team from MI5 to find the collaborators. The Irish firmly refuse such thing to happen. The King, furious, gives an ultimatum to the Irish government, saying that if the IRA collaborators from the Irish army aren't found and turned over to British authorities, he will find them using any means possible. The Irish don't even respond to the ultimatum, so the King orders the mobilization of the armed forces.
The King's plan to reunite with Ireland is now becoming reality, the "collaborators" must be found and punished.

In 3 days, the British Army lands 5 brigades in North Ireland, using cargo aircraft and the new landing ships of the Royal Navy.

A total of 21,667 military personnel from the army, air force and navy are participating in the operation.

The operation is to start in July 30, 2023
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The order of attack is given, the tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are blitzing through the countryside to envelop the entire Dublin area and destroy the entire entire Irish forces there.
Heavy combat is starting in the city of Drogheda when the 1st Armoured Brigade arrives there.
There are reports that even the citizens armed by the army are starting to fight, Molotaov cocktails are fling out of the windows when British armoured vehicles pass on the streets. The air force is called to help.
Image
Image

A massive air bombardment is launched over Drogheda by the 1st and 3rd Fighter Wings during the night of July 31, laser guided bombs are hitting hard the reinforced positions of the enemy. Explosions are heard until the morning when a large offensive is to be launched by the 1st and 5th Armoured Brigades.
At the same time as Drogheda was bombed, the 15th Infantry Division secures Tallaght, south of Dublin, and a large supply convoy moves to resupply the King's Royal Lancers with ammunition and fuel.

Image
Image

During the night of 1st August, a large offensive launched by the entire 1st Armoured Division surrounds Dublin and start the siege of the city. The defenders take massive casualties, and also thousands of armed civilians come to fight with the elite troops of the British Army.
Within 6 hours of heavy fighting on the streets and suburbs of Dublin the last of the defenders surrender and the city is occupied by the 15th Infantry Brigade.

Image
Image

In August 2, the Irish government surrenders to the British troops and a full capitulation is signed by the President and Prime Minister of Ireland. The United Kingdom is complete again.

Image

Casualties Report:

Ireland: 47 units lost (22,134 military casualties), over 900,000 civilians casualties (most of them in Drogheda and Dublin, due to large amounts of civilians armed to defend the cities and massive air bombardaments)

United Kingdom: 2 units lost (2,702 military casualties)

Aftermath

After the short but very bloody war, Drogheda and Dublin where ruined. A military occupation plan was adopted to take control of the entire country and destroy the many IRA groups that began to appear. Also a large re-construction and civilian help program was started.
The King, desires to make Ireland a semi-autonomous region in the United Kingdom with a Irish local government in order to calm down the massive population unrest.
Also all the captured soldiers of the Irish Army will be recruited by the British Army to form the 1st Irish Rifles Brigade.

Are you sure it is wise to form an Irish brigade and arm them?

They will be under direct control of the British Army, and will not be based in Ireland. They will also be light infantry, no heavy weapons, and at the smallest sign of treachery they will be moved in a prisoner of war camp.
And is better for me to use them in the front lines of the coming conflicts than becoming IRA members in Ireland.

After the fall of Ireland, The King has a new target in it's mind, that must be secured as soon as possible. The target is Malta, the beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Image

Malta is in a economic turmoil, with a big debt that can't be payed back. Seeing this, the King sees the opportunity for a lightning intervention with special operations forces to seize the island and annex it. This will provide the United Kingdom with a strategical position in the Mediterranean Sea because of the naval and air base situated on the island.
The High Command agrees and a immediate plan is created by General Charles Guthrie of the Special Air Service.

Operation Silent Night

In August 8, 2023, at 01.00 am, the elite 1st SAS Brigade was ready to be deployed by parachute over key positions in the islands of Malta and Gozo.
The total SAS personnel for this operation was of 1890 special operatives

Image
Image

Some light antiaircraft guns open fire on the transport aircraft's that drop the SAS teams, but no serious damage is taken.
The SAS battalions start to engage enemy forces that are gathering to defend the island. 2 light infantry and 4 garrison battalions are deployed by the Maltese defense forces to fight with the invaders.
The fight continues for 24 hours, with the Maltese forces taking heavy casualties.

Image
Image

In the midnight between 9 and 10 August, Malta and Gozo are secured, the last defenders surrender to the SAS operatives that took control of the streets and government buildings in Valetta. They are moved to a prisoner camp until the situation on the islands calms down.

Image

Casualties Report:

Malta: 8 units lost (3,774 military casualties), about 6,000 civilian casualties (mostly wounded)

United Kingdom: 64 operatives where killed or wounded during the operation.

Aftermath:

The UN did not condemned the United Kingdom for the intervention in Malta, mainly because the British government payed the debt of incompetent government of Malta and brought economical growth to the islands. Soon the tourists will come again to Malta to spend their holidays in peace.
A British governor was installed to handle the local economical and social matters.

Military Vision 2024

Minister of War, Jay Harrison announced that the British Armed Forces are adopting a more aggressive doctrine that will focus on world wide power projection capability using nuclear aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, advanced combat vessels, marines, rapid response infantry, special operations forces and a strong air transport fleet.

Image

A large budget will be allocated to the Royal Navy, in order to build the ships required for the UK to become the worlds greatest naval power again.

The FRES infantry combat vehicles will replace the FV511 Warrior infantry fighting vehicles in active service because they are more reliable and faster to build and repair.

With this large military reforms, a new, more effective structure for the ground forces was implemented:

Rifle Brigade: containing 7 light motorized infantry battalions. This units are airborne capable and can be deployed by 2 air transport squadrons anywhere in the world at a short notice.

Infantry Brigade: containing 7 FRES infantry battalions. The FRES brigades are not airborne capable but can be transported by 4 air transport squadrons and unloaded at a air base. The FRES brigades are well suited for any type of battle, especially for urban warfare.

Combined Arms Brigade: containing 4 tank and 3 FRES battalions. This brigades carry a lot of firepower and are well suited to destroy enemy armoured formations.

Special Operations Brigade: containing 7 special air service commandos. The SOB is a versatile unit, capable to be air deployed and fight a long time without supply behind enemy lines.

In August 18, The British government signed a secret treaty with the United States. The treaty gives the United Kingdom the ability to expand it's territories without US intervention. The US president stated to The King that they need a strong partner against the Chinese and Russians, who become more and more aggressive. With the United States of America and the new United Kingdom working together, nothing in this world can stand against.

The King turned his greedy eyes from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean Sea. Those beautiful islands and archipelagos must be under the Crown again in order to have a foothold in the Americas. And with this occasion, the naval power of the reformed Royal Navy can show it's mighty power again.

Stephan, I love this AAR. Your pictures are really adding to the immersion. I would like to add pictures or even screen shots from a couple of flight simulators I have to my Russian Federation AAR but I am paranoid that I might break some forum rule I missed or some copyright violations or something. Please let me know what you are doing. You have a great AAR going.

Operation Black Pearl - Phase II

After a 3 day regrouping and rearming, the Caribbean Campaign continues.
In September 30, the operation was ready to go, 1st SAS Brigade will fly over from the Cayman islands base and assaulr the Jamaican capitol - Kingston. Aircraft carrier HMS King William will provide 5 fighter squadrons to support the assault.

Image
Image

The SAS detachments start to engage enemy units around and in the capitol. The Jamaican army takes massive casualties in a very short amount of time when the F35 fighters start bombing their positions with smart bombs and cluster canisters.

Image
Image
Image

By October 1 the island of Jamaica is secured and the POW's are moved to "special" camps. The King is happy to hear that Jamaica is again part of the British Crown.
Air patrol are still maintained to survey the island.

Image

The next major operation in the South American continent is the invasion of Guyana.
In 4 October, a naval task force with the flag ship HMS Sovereign and it's escorts arrived on the coast of Guyana. A landing group should arrive within a day to assault Georgetown from the sea.

Image
Image

In October 5, the 1st and 3rd Infantry Brigades landed at Georgetown and are besieging the city. A infantry battalion and several garrisons are completely overwhelmed in 3 hours of battle. The armoured vehicles are taking control of strategic areas of the city.

Image
Image

In October 6, the 1st Infantry Brigade pushes further in land towards Linden while F35's are taking control of the skies. The city is taken without any resistance from the enemy.

Image

A Belgian frigate that enters the territorial waters of the United Kingdoms is sent to the bottom by anti-ship missiles launched from Eurofighters.

Image
Image

In October 8, New Amsterdam is occupied by the 3rd Infantry Brigade. The Government of Guyana is captured and forced to capitulate. The British Guyana is again British!

Image

After the swift assault on Guyana, the troops where recalled for the most important and difficult operation in this campaign. The Invasion of Nicaragua. The entire personnel of 45,000 is committed to this main objective.
The first phase of the invasion is to secure the coastal cities of Puerto Cabozas and Bluefields by the 1st SAS, 2nd SAS and the 1st Irish Rifles Brigade.
By achieving this objectives, the landing fleet can have unload the land forces in the ports.
In October 17, the operation is launched.

Image
Image

The garrisons of both cities are annihilated in a short time. The Irish Rifles prove themselves as good and loyal warriors after taking Puerto Cabozas. The massive assault of several thousands of SAS operatives is a demonstration of force by the British Army.

ImageImage

In October 20, a beach head is established around Bluefields. The 1st, 3rd and 7th Infantry Brigades, and the elite King's Royal Lancers (combined arms brigade) landed in a very short time and took positions outside the city. Also, 2 sustainment groups are loading with supplies and fuel for the advance in the enemy territory.

Image
Image

In October 23, the invasion force was ready to advance towards Juigalpa.

Image
Image

In October 25, the main assault on the capitol area is launched by the entire land force. The Irish Rifles are occupied Matagalpa and are heading north-west. The plan is to completely envelop the capitol area and destroy the enemy forces or force them to surrender.

Image

A brutal fight emerges when the British forces meet head on with the Nicaraguan Army. The Nicaraguans take massive casualties when the combined land-air assault is breaking the enemy positions on multiple areas. The 1st Infantry Brigade is driving along the Managua lake to attack Leon and block the enemy's ability retreat.

Image

In October 26, SAS detachments land on Managua and Granada (the 2 blue circles on the screenshot). This surprise attack overwhelms the enemy's ability to defend the cities.
Both cities are occupied in a few hours after the SAS attack.
Leon is occupied by the 1st Infantry Brigade

Image

In October 27, the entire capitol area is cleared by the the British forces. The enemy's navy was spotted by the Irish Rifles and the naval fighters are sent to send them to the bottom of the sea.
Nicaragua surrenders soon after that

Image
Image

The British Invasion Force destroyed 99 enemy units (31,752 enemy dead and wounded)

The last target of the Operation Black Pearl is now in sight. Belize, the small Central American nation is going to join the Neo British Empire very soon.
In October 28, the 1st SAS Brigade was sent to end the Operation Black Pearl, by attacking Belmopan.

Image

The only defense of the city was a poorly trained engineer battalion that was pacified in a short time by the SAS.

Image

In October 30, 4 SAS detachment assaulted Belize city. The city was lightly defended and didn't pose to much of a threat to the elite SAS operatives.

Image

In October 31, the last city, San Ignacio, is secured by 2 SAS detachments. Soon after that, the government capitulates to the British forces
Mission accomplished!

Image

Aftermath

Garrisons where created in Belize, Nicaragua and British Guyana from the 1st, 3rd and 7th Infantry Brigades. Also a carrier task force and a submarine group was based in Jamaica and a land air base in the Cayman Islands.
British Governors where installed on all the new territories to handle the local authorities.
1st SAS Brigade was decorated by the King for their great service to the United Kingdom, they wont stay home to much, as soon as a new operation emerges from the General Staff plans, they will be the first to enter and the last to leave the combat.

British Territories

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of the European nations are at war with me right now, and many air - naval battles are occurring. The french lost 17 ships including the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the AShM's launched by Eurofighters. Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark also lost ships and are still losing to my North Sea air patrols.
I'm also considering taking the french and Netherlands territories in the Caribbeans with this occasion. And add the French Guyana to my dominions.
