This is the problem I have with this game. The US never does anything but attack Mexico and Cuba. Does anyone think the US would allow Russia to get anywhere near France without declaring war? Realistically the US would have declared before Russia even touched Poland! Please update your mod Ruges and make the US a bigger part of the game. I would love to see them shipping 100,000+ troops across the Atlantic! And put in the vanilla build times so we can actually play as smaller countries and have a chance. I look forward to the conclusion of this AAR. It is very interesting otherwise.

Acualy I this is in the 4.36 version. I have been trying not to mention to many of these events, but the AI US does get involved in the world beyond mexico/Cuba. In my testing I have seen them make major amphib landings in South America to support the allies down there. I have also seen them make major amphib landings in Europe. It acualy plays out allot like WW2 where the allies pretty much let the axis take over europe before sending in the troops. And the same thing happens in the game.

So far this AAR is not even a year into the game, Events will happen for several years, and have been optimized for AI controlled countries.

ahhh..thanks. It is good to know it is there although I don't think the US would wait quite so long after what happened in WW2, especially since it is Russia. I guess Tnarg will have some surprises in store for him! LOL Sorry to spoil it.

I'd add too that in 2020 (unlike CW), you gotta have those cargo ships to move guys. Takes a while, given there isn't a big force of US troops in Germany in this mod to start with.

BTW, love the mod. Good stuff.

Recon elements of the Caspian Flotilla Naval Infantry probe about 16 km west of Gorgan and detect what appears to be a Turkmenistan Tank Division approaching from the north and east. Our forces dig in and prepare for a huge land battle. The Iranians assist and reinforce the area with a tank brigade.

Image

The Turkmenistan tank division tries to encircle our troops entrenched in Gorgan. 2 Squadrons of SU-39s perform CAS for the area and greatly diminsh the Turkmenistan attack along with the Iranian tank brigade. We had thought that the Turkmenistan Army would only provide light opposition and would be scattered and clumsy at that. In two days they have managed to throw 2 seperate division sized attacks on our forces.

A recon patrol of 1st Tank Army spots 2 Turkish mechanized infantry brigades making a push on our lightly defended northern front. CINCSMD has declared enough is enough. No more of this disorganized creeping font. It is time to declare an organized campaign on Turkey. CINCSMD asks for battle staff meeting to present options for a quick and organized campaign to take Turkey once and for all.

Military Operations Room
Chekhov, Moscow Oblast - Wartime Command Post for the General Staff

Operation Cerberus
Turkey Campaign

Overal all these plans call for the primary objective of capturing Istanbul. It is beleived that the Turkish government will immediatley move their control to Istanbul once and if Ankara is captured.

Plan A - Main Objectives: Varna, Mersin, Istanbul, Ankara North and South Thrusts. Direct, path of least resistance to Istanbul which will require heavy air logistical support. A southern force will capture a southern seaport splitting Turkey in half.

49th Army - Push all the way up to Istanbul over open terrain, avoid all garrisoned cities along the way, except for Ankara.

1st Tank Army - Southern push capturing the airfield at Aksaray and capture of seaport at Mersin.

Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry - Unopposed landing near Bergas and establish a strong beach head. Split to capture the seaport at Varna and begin staging on west edge of Istanbul.

2 Marine BDEs of BSFNI - Capture coastal city of Zonguldak and establish a temporary seaport for supply and reinforcements from 58th Army.

56th Air Assault Reg - Once 49th Army is near Ankara, capture the airfield at Eskisehir for heavy air transports and military aircraft. Once airfield is secured, the 56th will be available as a reserve force to aid in the capture of Ankara once Istanbul is captured.

58th Army - On reserve and ready to deploy via heavy naval transports once Varna is captured or a temporary seaport is built at Zonguldak.

Image

Plan B - Main Objectives: Ankara, Varna, IstanbulCentral Wedge. Capture of Turkeys 2 main central (East-West) supply routes in the east which have several heavily garrisoned cities on the way to Ankara. Heavy delays to Ankara which allows the Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry to setup a strong beach head near Varna, Burgas, Zonguldak, and Karadeniz Eregli. Will not require as much heavy air logistical support which is badly needed in preperation for the UK invasion.

1st Tank Army - Capture northern central supply corridor and all major cities to Ankara. Join with 1st Tank Army and push over open terrain to Adapazari then Istanbul.

49th Army - Capture southern central supply corridor and airfields, barraks, and all major cities to Ankara. Link up with 1st Tank Army at Ankara and send a Mechanized Infantry BDE to capture the airfield at Eskisehir with the rest of the force heading for Istanbul.

Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry - Same as in Plan A.

2 Marine BDEs of BSFNI - Same as in Plan A.

56th Air Assault Reg - Capture of the coastal city of Karadeniz Eregli.

58th Army - Same as Plan A.

Image

Plan C - Main Objectives: Varna, Kayseri, Eskisehir, Istanbul, Ankara2 Spearhead Central Wedge. A northern and southern thrust through open terrain which will require heavy air logistical support. Capture of Ankara at our leisure.

49th Army - Capture of airfield near Kayseri followed by a long unapposed thrust to Adapazari. A Brigade of Mechanized Infantry will break off and capture the airfield at Eskisehir.

1st Tank Army - Unnaposed thrust over open terrain all the way to the eastern edge of Istanbul. Forces will completely bypass all garrisoned cities along the way. Forces will require heavy support via air transports.

Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry - Opposed naval invasion of the seaport at Varna. Once Varna is captured, forces will swing south and stage near the western edge of Istanbul.

2 Marine BDEs of BSFNI - Opposed naval invasion of the western side of Istanbul once the main force of the BSFNI is in position for Istanbul.

56th Air Assault Reg - Air Assualt of the Istanbul once all forces have Istanbul surrounded.

58th Army - Once Varna is captured, units from the 58th will begin transportation via heavy naval transports and stage near Varna and act as a reserve force in the area.

The Russian Federation declares war on Argentina after they attack Equardor.

December 1st, 2020
The Southern Military District launches Operation Cerberus Plan B. The organized campaign for Turkey is under way.

December 10th, 2020
The 49th Army has captured Kayseri Turkey and the Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry have secured a beachhead northwest of Istanbul. 2 Marine brigades of the BSFNI have also landed near Zonguldak.
Image

December 11th, 2020
A British tank brigade crosses the Chunnel while the British air force launch a massive air strike in area of Dunkerque. This is first time the British have launced an organized strike with at least 8 squadrons of IDS Tornados, Eurofighter Typhoons, and F-35Cs in a whille. The British still have a superior air force on their Island. 3 squadrons of our SU-37s intercept the British strike and a huge air battle ensues.

Image

December 21st, 2020
Forces of the 49th Army and 1st Tank Army have encircled Ankara and the capitol of Turkey falls easily. Just as predicted the Turkish government quickly establishes their government in Istanbul. The Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry begin immediate shelling of the entire area of Istanbul and 3 brigades of MT-LBs position for an assault on the western side of Istanbul. The 1st Tank Army quickly reforms and makes a mad unapposed dash towards the eastern side of Istanbul.

Image

December 23rd, 2020
A flotilla of Turkish heavy naval transports carrying at least 3 brigades of troops to reinforce Istanbul is sunk by an Akula SSN that has managed to sneak into the Sea of Marma. The Turkish government seeing themselves completely surrounded in Istanbul surrender their country to the Russian Federation. An immediate order is given to all Turkish naval vessels to return to Turkish ports while all remaining Turkish air craft are grounded. There were very little ground forces other than garrisons remaining after the fall. During the campaign, Turkish forces lost 125 units to our 8.

The Black Sea Fleet is now free to enter the Mediterranean Sea and naval and ground support of our flailing Libyan allies should be under way shortly.

December 28th
Military Operations Room
Chekhov, Moscow Oblast - Wartime Command Post for the General Staff

Operation Perseus
Invasion of the UK

With the conclusion of the Turkey Campaign on the 23rd of December the Russian Federation celebrated a much needed christmas break. Most troops were given 48 hour rotations to rest and take their minds off of the war. Refreshed, the General Staff meet at Chekhov to discuss plans for an invasion of the UK. The UK poses a great danger to our western defences and naval traffic in the Atlantic. Although recon flights over the eastern coast of the US have shown no indication of mobilizing its troops to aid the UK, sources say that it is only a matter of time before the US builds up an adequate force to flex its muscles for a third time in Europe. The US is an old hand at this saving Europe business. If they are going to do it, they do it in force. The British Island is the perfect staging point as we have seen in the past.

The major obstacles that stand in our way is the network of coastal radar and air defense bases, the density of their airfields and their strong air power, and their massive navy that can meet our naval invasion force from any direction.

As indicated with the above TO&E there are several units that are short of material and men.

The maneuver element of the 1st Expiditionary Army is near full strength; however, much of its support units are still lacking. This army is pioneering the new Combined Arms Brigade doctrine borrowing a page from the U.S. Brigade Combat Team ideas and ideas of the earlier Combined Arms Brigade that the Russian Federation tried around 2010. Fielding 6 Mechanized Combined Arms Brigades (MCAB) the 1st Expiditionary Army is highly mobile and flexiable meeting the needs of almost any terrain and situation. The new MCABs are strengthed a bit from the earlier CABs with an average MCAB consisting of 3 Mechanized Infantry BN, 2 Tank BN, 1 Motor Rifle BN, 1 Recon BN, 2 Self-propelled Arty BN, 1 MRLS BN, 1 Short Range AD BN, 1 Medium Range AD BN, 1 Engineer BN, 1 Heavy Supply BN, and 1 Helicopter SQD. It is idealy set up for urban close quarters combat. We are projecting 2 to 3 months before every MCAB is fully supported.

Military Operations Room
Chekhov, Moscow Oblast - Wartime Command Post for the General Staff

Operation Perseus
Invasion of the UK

To date this is the overall rough outline plan for Operation Perseus. This is Plan A. As noted from our shortages on men and material for such an invasion we still have 2 to 3 months to refine Operation Perseus to best meet the needs of a shock and awe campaign on the UK. With our world view sliding further and further south, we must take islands with overwhelming force causing the British government to surrender quickly without heavy civilian casualties and damage to their industrial and commercial base. If the British should move their government to one of their colonies spread out around the world and we have to take every last city, it will be a long drawn out mess.

Image
Operation Perseus Plan A

Image

Phase I
Infiltrate 6 Special Operation Brigades to Coastal and AD emplacements along northern and eastern shores. Once all are in place they will simultaneously demo or capture the sites.

Position SSNs near all harbors and at the mouth of the North Channel and St. Georges Channel blocking any UK naval assets stationed in the Irish Sea. SSNs will also be stationed at the eastern and western mouths of the English Channel and ordered to sit quietly until the action starts.

Phase II
Massive cooridinated missile bombardment of several key airfields and sea piers.

Phase III
Massive cooridinated air assualt on several key airfields. Each targeted airfield will have a brigade size force air assualt or air drop onto the airfields. Each brigade will be backed up by an additional reserve brigade.

Phase IV
6th Army will conduct a push through the chunnel and establish a defensive area on the UK side of the chunnel.

Northern Fleet Naval Infantry will conduct a naval invasion in the Aberdeenshire area and establish a strong beachhead in the north.

Airborne brigades that have captured airfields can begin capturing any nearby bridges or other airfields.

Phase V
20th Army will join the 6th Army Defensive line and then spread out in a large half circle around the outer edges of London, taking targets of opportunity.

Phase VI
The 1st Expiditionary Army will join the southern encirclement of London and then extend the complete encirclement of London in the north.

Phase VII
Once a complete encirclement of the London area is established, a massive attack by the 1st Expiditionary Army and 20th Army will begin.

6th Army will skirt the encirclement and make a run along the eastern coast linking up with airborne troops and the Northern Fleet Naval Infantry.

Thanks GIJoe597, the UK has been a fun one to think about and plan for. Their air power is going to make it a tough one. If you have any ideas feel free to join the General Staff and share.

It all depends on each persons own style, but generally I may do one or all of the following;

1. Pack European coast with AAA and keep baiting UK's planes into range till they are depleted.

2. Pack waters around UK airfields with the longest range anti-air ships you have, and do same as above.

3. Entrench a few hexes back from coast in France, entice UK's ground units across Chunnel, let them crash against your wall of units and supporting arty

4. All of the above.

Eventually you will wear them down and air units or ground units will only move against you in ones or twos, AI is shot, now do whatever you want at your leisure.

Of course that would not make for a grand story though, certainly not as grand as, we forced a landing on their NW shores, it was hard fought etc, etc :)

The following members of the New World Order League: Ukraine, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, and North Korea have accepted Kyrgyzstan into their alliance.

January 1st, 2021
One day after Kyrgystan enters into the New World Order League, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Japan, India, the Georgia Republic, and Singapore test the resolve of the mysterious New World Order League and declares war on the small country.

January 3rd, 2021
An alliance between Japan and Finland is signed.

January 8th. 2021
In Libya a brigade of the Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry launched a thrust along the coast of Tunisia. Supported by airborne troops of the the 56th Air Assualt Regiment our forces have captured two cities. Within 24 hours a division sized Tunisian force conducted a counter attack cutting off the brigade of MT-LB that pushed further north. The commander of the BSFNI brigade refused to pull out as a brigade of Tunisian tanks and a brigade of infantry began to surround his captured city cutting him off from the support of the 56th Air Assualt Regiment and the rest of his support units. 3 of his MT-LB battalions were lost while he and his command staff escaped. This greatly weakens our presence in Libya and is an embarressement to the glory of the Russian Federation. The overly bold commander of the Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry Brigade that was lost has been called to Moscow for conducting an a "Patton" style attack of glory. The commander has been demoted and sent to command a garrison in Greenland. He was lucky to not have been shot. The times are not desperate yet, but if they do get desperate, our generals can not make such foolish mistakes.

Kremlin, Moscow

Russian Federation and World Situation Briefing.

Almost a full year has past since the world has erupted into a full state of global war. The Russian Federation has done well during the last year and the motherland has grown signaficantly. The Russian President has called his ministers and general staff in for the year end report.

The Production Minister has noted that Ag, Water, Timber, Coal, and Ore are running at about 24% of production capacity. Petroleum is running at 40% capacity and we are running a huge surplus at 18,586,004 bbls. Our Uranium production is running at 100 capacity producing 50,847 units while the current demand is 167,712 units. The Russina Federation has 17 uranium mines that are currently active with 1 under construction. The Production minister is asking for more mines to built to meet this future need.

Our electrical power production is currently running at 63% capacity and again we have a huge surpless of 12,068,379 units that we are selling. He advices that more power plants; mainly ones in annexed countries, be shut down for the time being to save on production costs.

Our consumer goods are running at 100% capacity and we are generating a small surpluls that we are exporting.

Industrial goods are running at 200% of our capacity creating 50,008 units while demand is at 270,671 units. This shortage has been addressed with 29 more major industrial sites that are being repaired or constructed adding to our 49 major industrial sites.

Military goods continue to be a significant source of export income and are running at 100% capacity. Currently we have a surplus of 816,231 units.

The Research Minsister spoke next and stated that during the last year we have advanced significantly closing the technology gap with the most hight tech western countries from 10 years to 7 years. Research costs were a major budget concern and since we have lowered our cost on research efficiency we are running at around 85%. He cautions that this will slow down our technological growth. Currently we have 87 technological centers and 24 are actively researching new technologies.

Finance spoke next. He stated that we finally have our treasury growing on a daily basis but at a cost to our growing population which is starting to show slight signs of strain. Our most recent DAR report was as 20%, down from 21% at the begining of December. 35% of our total budget is spent on social programs. We are spending $2,713 to the recommended $4,260. Currently we are funding our hospital services at around 77%, Eduction is funded at 89%, Infrustructe is funded at 143%, Enviromental funding is at 55%, Family Subsidy is at 44%, Law Enforcement is at 76%, Cultural Subsidy is at 42%, and Social Assistance is at 42%.

Our overal tax rate is at 63.6%. Broken down, the Finance minister states that Low Income is at 40%, High Income is at 44%, Corporate taxes are running at 55%, Small Business is at 60%, Sales Tax are at an all time low of 2.8%, Unemployment is at 4.4%, Property is at 4.4.%, and Pension is at 4.4%.

In the last month we have made some changes to impact the happiness such as lowering the sales tax; however, with our GDP down to $10,864 from $13,205 from before the war started we need to make some bigger changes. Inflation is at 0.0, Unemployment is at 7.2.

The Minister of State spoke cautiosly reminding the gathered group how much the world disapproves of the Russian Federation. Even the allies of the Eastern Alliance have a 100% Casus Belli on the great Russian Federation. In the next year we are too tread lightly. It is only a matter of time before one of our allies that also belong to this New World Order League decide that the Russian Bear is truly a growing menace with a soft underbelly. Our only ally that truly supports us is Libya. State summerizes his report with a few maps of some of the major hot spots in the world.

Northern Europe is for the most part exhausted. The UK is the only country that poses any direct threat to the Russian Federation. All of our borders are lined with neutral countries on hair pin triggers. It is wise that we keep the all of the armies of Northern Europe deployed as we currently have them to help deture those hair pin triggers.
Image

With the annexation of Turkey, most of central Europe is quiet. The Ukraine poses the most direct threat, but as a member of the New World Order League which currently has members that are allied witht the Russian Federation, we don't believe they will do anything drastic yet, especially after seeing what we did with Turkey.
Image

The Eastern Military District has been quiet since the end of the North Korean War. Our only major concern is China, but as we will see shortly, they have kind of stalled out on their ambitions in the south. Japan is still neutral with us, but it is only a matter of someone making a small mistake before they decide the time is right to declare war and open up their bases to the US.
Image

Africa is in shambles with alomost every country at war. South Africa is the one we have our eye on most.
Image

We have landed a force in Libya to aid them and have started to conduct an offensive into Tunisia. Despite our recent set back there are more forces are on the way.
Image

In the Middle East, Israel takes the spot light and we can see much of their progress over the year. Currently they are in a heated battle with Saudi Arabia. We will let the middle east conflict play out longer until we have at least secured the UK. The oil can wait, but in the mean time Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India all pose a direct threat to the allies in Iran. We are supporting them in a limited manner.
Image
Image

In Asia the Chinese have made some gains and are pushing into Indian captured Bangladesh. The steam in this area seems to have fizzled and most of the skirmishes seem to be limited raids.
Image

North America and Canada are quiet reminding much of the world of pre-1941 Pearl Harbor bliss while the rest of the world unravels. The North Americans have flexed their muscle however in the last year and have captured all of Mexico. Their conflict with Cuba is mostly a standoff which is leading us to believe that the US is not quiet ready to commit and save Europe yet. Central America seems pretty quiet as well.
Image
Image

South America is not so quiet. Brazil is making a push on Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezual. Argentina is close to encircling the capitol of Chile.
Image

The Intelligence Minister gave his briefing next stating that we have had some successess withing the GRU but more funding is neccessary if we are to compete on a more global manner. He currently operates 5 acadamies and 10 more have been under construction over the last year. Soon we will have the iron grip glory we had at the height of the Cold War. We have also launced 2 Communications Satellites and Reconnaissance Satellites giving a coverage of 16% and 14% in those two areas.

Defense spoke next. He assured the gathered group that militarily the Russian Federation is a growing force to be feared. We have 2,410,289 men and women on active duty with another 8,037,778 in the reserve pool. 1822 units are currently deployed, with 1142 units in reserve. Over the last year the forces of our great armies have decimated 3060 units at a cost of only 684 of our units. A 1:4.5 loss/kill ratio. The fear mongoring that the Minister of State declared in his briefing with our current allies ready to declare war on the Motherland in heartbeat is true. He states that we need not worry, our forces along those borders will delay any major advances into our territory. Shoud they be overrun, he asks that our Non-First Strike Nuclear Policy be revised to state that should an allied country betray us and declare war, orders and permission are granted to the Distric Commanders of the borders contested to launch a tactical nuclear strike on enemy forces making advances into the Russian Federation. Currently we have 20 SS-27 Topols, 11 SSC-5 Scorpions, 2 SS-25 Sickles, 4 AS-19 Kolas, 9 SS-N-19N Shipwrecks, and 5 SS-N-30 Belugas. Hardly anything that the world should fear as a MAD scenerio of the Cold War, but to let our current friends and neighbors know that we are not to be slighted.

After several moments and the initial shock of what the Defense Minister has asked past, a vote was taken, and it was decided that the the Non-First Strike Nuclear Policy be revised to address the orders and permission be granted to District Commanders of contested borders of current allies belonging to the New World Order League only. We still uphold the Non-First Strike Nuclear Policy on all other conflicts.

To conclude his briefing the Defense Minister stated that after the UK is in our grasp the Russian Federation Navy should be in a position to project a world presence in naval power, one that can even go head to head with the US Navy if we maintain our strong counter naval air assets as well. A CGN-Kirov has just been completed and is currently underway to join the Pacific Fleet. 4 CVN-1144 Chabarovsk are scheduled to be completed within the year, 2 within 100 days. A CV-1143.4 Kiev will also join the Northern Fleet within a year, and several more carriers and dozens of new Akula-II attack subs will be roaming the seas of the world within the year. The 1st Expiditionary Army is nearing full strenghth and our Airborne Troops are the largest in the world.
