Mexico: Ascent of the Eagle's Covenant--CHAPTER 2 RELEASED!!

Post by Liustares »

Hi guys :-) , I'm new to the Battlegoat Forums. I've been playing SR2020 since two years ago and after several campaings, and after quitting my lazyness  , I finally decided to post my first AAR ever, Oh, and excuse if my English can be bad at times :D but I'll try to avoid grammatical errors as much as possible. So ok, let's get started with this... The settings are the next:

-Supreme Ruler 2020 Global Crisis ( Update 8 )
-Campaing: Shattered World
-Nation: Mexico
-World Volatility: Very High
-Victory Conditions: Complete
-Government: Moderate

-Game Settings: No scheduled game end, all dificulties stay on normal, of course there is debt, no fixed capitals neither allied victories, and of course I start the game with units.
-Military Settings: Of course there's fog of war, enhaced spotting and ranges, also I allow nuclear weapons on high penalties and all military units are eliminated when a region falls (this last one to prevent massive lag on my PC, LOL)
-Scenario Settings: Resources are set on dwindling, low initial funds, high approval effects, there are third party relation effects, you can count also with the Critical United Nations, Government Change is allowed, and I set random events on very high.

I don't have any definite Personal Rules, but that doesn't means I'll be buying lots of tech or military unit blueprints from other nations, only a few are really necesary, I won't make any alliances (for storyline and game performance purposes). I'll be chasing several goals during the campaing, this ones can vary from military conquests to economical development among many others.

So finally, I'd like to say that I want this one to be an awesome AAR, and in order to do so I'll be putting my best efforts in this. This AAR will have a literary stile, which means I'll be adding characters, developing the storyline during the process and things like that :-) , who knows, maybe some actions and events could lead to unexpected results or even dramatic and extreme situations into the storyline  . Also, I would like to edit some videos and upload them to Youtube in order to complement all this and make it more entertaining, this is going to be a full AAR. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do developing it

PROLOGUE: THE LIFE OF A NATION/A HISTORY LESSON

Post by Liustares »

Ok, here's the prologue :-) . This is a resume on the entire History of Mexico till this day, of course I had to omitt several topics about the whole thing. Here you'll find the most important events (Wars, Politics, Economy...) that have led to the actual Mexico. Some of the events in this Prologue will be important for the storyline for this AAR. Hopefully this will make for an interesting reading and solve many of your questions about this country
I Hope you'll find this informative too :-)

============================================================================================
Prologue: The Life of a Nation... A.K.A. A History Lesson...

Image

Our ancestors arrived long time ago to this beautiful land. Their efforts gave us a great and rich cultural legacy. From the great Olmec “Mother Culture”, to the powerful Aztec and Mayan Empires, our ancestors always fought every day of their lives to overcome themselves, their fathers, their grandparents... They did it in order to give their coming generations a great legacy so their names and actions could trascend history, and never be forgotten... At the end, they are still been remembered to our days as great architects, warriors, and scientists, from the old times... Builders of their own destiny, a destiny which turned dark, when an unknown force came from the other side and put an ending, a violent and tragic ending, which was written in blood... Blood of our ancestors, of their parents, wives, children and men...

Image

From the old continent the Spanish came to this young land. They were received and treated as gods since their arrival, peace seemed to reign as the omen of a false prophecy. When it was least expected, the empire from Iberia stabbed our people and vanished many lives, the great warriors tried to contend the overwhelming enemy forces composed by the conquerors and their new native allies, the traitors... Blood was spread on the battlefields, and their numerical and technological superiority ended up subjugating the Aztec Empire in 1521.

Image
Image

Through three centuries our land was ruled by the Spanish Empire, our territories were known then as "Virreinato de la Nueva España" (Viceroyalty of New Spain). However, the long ruling force from Spain seemed to be going to an end as the Napoleonic Wars ravaged Europe and eventually hit their mainland.

Image

The year 1810 saw the mass uprising in New Spain. The fight for independence began as thousands joined the insurgent forces. The Patriots clashed with the Royalists in numerous battles that culminated in the born of a new country, a nascent nation called Mexico... Nevertheless, our painful and bloody struggle for freedom, patriotism and progress had just began...

Image

The (First) Mexican Empire was formed then in 1821. This was Mexico's maxinum territorial extension, from California and Tejas to Costa Rica.

Image

Image
Mexican Emperor Agustin I

But after continuous political turmoil, ideological conflicts, and conspirations, “Emperor Agustin I” was forcibly overthrown from power and the Empire became a Republic, which then started another struggle between Federal and Central models. Central American nations (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Costa Rica) seceded from the Mexican Empire right after this, it was the year 1823.

Image
Guadalupe Victoria, First President of Mexico

Image

Civil wars became a "common practice" and continuous political struggles put in danger the future of the country, not to mention the Spanish (Who still held Cuba and the Antilles) intents to recover their lost territories in Mexico which eventually translated into open military actions.

Image
Spain launched a campaing to retake Mexico. The plan failed as Mexico reorganized its army and faced the Spanish forces which were repelled. There were mexican plans to invade Cuba, none of them were realized.

The Mexican government gave to American citizens the right to stablish small colonies in the northern territory of Tejas, not comformable with this, the American settlers in Tejas started to demand more political rights and tried to influence mexican politics, the mexican government opposed, then they started their revolution, and declared independence of their own country in 1935, the Republic of Texas (now written with X instead of J according to the pronunciation differences between languages). Failed mexican attemps to recover control over Tejas/Texas caused a de facto independence by the Texan Republic which was never recognized by mexicans who considered Texas as a rebel territory which could be retaken.

Image
Battle of The Alamo. Mexican forces charge against the Texan resistance during a fierce showdown.

As clashes between factions continued, the mexican internal conflict for power then damaged the urban areas and infrastructure, including french inmigrant properties which lead to military invasion by France in 1938 (The French government demanded the mexican government to pay reparations for the damage made to french people, but mexican economy and treasury was already devastated and couldn't pay, then, France launched a land invasion on Mexico), from were the french emerged victorious thus forcing the already poor and devastated Mexico to pay reparations.

The French Navy bombs the citadel San Juan de Ulua in Veracruz, Mexico.

Texas annexation by the US in 1945 led to an absolute diplomatic crisis between Mexico and its northern neighboor. The original frontier between Texas and Mexico was the Nueces River but president Polk denied it and instead he said that the Rio Grande (Which today serves as the frontier between Mexico an the US) was the real frontier between Mexico and now... the United States.

Image
The purpose of this image is to let the reader note the Nueces River and the Rio Grande, the disputed area between Texas and Mexico, and later, the Area claimed by the United States of America

Mexico had long warned the US that annexation would mean war. To put the things worse, Britain and France supported the US and Texan sepparatism. Polk then sent troops to the Río Grande into mexican territory, the mexican army attacked in defense of the territory, and Polk got his cassus belli. Then California decided to "play the Texas game" by declaring independence as the California Republic, the war had officially started. Mexican forces tried to stop the overwhelming american advance but non stop violence broke out in the mexican capital Ciudad de Mexico in the form of an uprising led by the Church and its religious followers (the mexican government had passed a law to use the Church's goods in order to finance a military arsenal to fight back the US) against the government so mexican troops were withdrawn from the frontline to contend the rebels and thus messing up the mexican resistance efforts which led to total loss of over 50% of the original mexican territory (Texas, California and New Mexico) in an humilliating and painful treaty. The nation was mutilated... Victim of the "Manifest Destiny" policy...

Image
Battle of Chapultepec. American soldiers launch an assault on the Castle of Chapultepec in Mexico City.

Napoleon III tried to stablish an Empire in Mexico, he finally succeded and the Second Mexican Empire was stablished, he wanted to take advantage of the American Civil War to stop the US growing power by invading the country and supporting militarily and economicaly the Confederate States of America, however, the upcoming war with Prussia forced him to withdraw troops from Mexico, leaving the Mexican Empire defenseless against the resistance movement. The Second Empire fell, Emperor Maximilian I was executed and the Republic was re-established.

Further civil wars, coups, revolutions, and continuous military and political interventions by the US continued to devastate and ruin mexican stability until a dictator, Porfirio Diaz came to power.

Image
Porfirio Diaz

Diaz modernized the mexican economy and infrastructure, he made the country progress at the cost of slavery, repression and thousands of lives, nevertheless, he continued to re-elect himself (he ruled through several decades) until the mexican people rebeled (1910) against the dictatorship thus sparking another conflict, the Mexican Revolution. Two million lives perished in the revolution which ended in 1920.

After the war, the situation stabilized, the new government got recognition by the international stage, being the US recognition the most important one. The revolutionary government led the country trough a process that involved rebuilding the economy and the pacifying of the society. The presidency of Lazaro Cardenas del Rio (1934-1940) was a significant one as he nationalized many industries and put again the valuable petroleum reserves in the hands of the nation, this severed relations with Britain and the US. He also supported the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War.

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) established its hegemony through seven decades, ruling as an authoritarian regime from 1929 to 2000.

Several protests were repressed by the army under orders of the government. Some of them having violent endings.

The Mexican Miracle (an economic boom) produced sustained economic growth of 3 to 4 percent and modest 3 percent inflation annually from the 1940s until the 1970s.
Finally in the elections of 2000 the National Action Party (PAN) defeated the PRI's candidate, thus putting an end to PRI's hegemony in the first free and fair elections.

Image

The electoral process of 2006 received severe accusations of fraud from Andres Manuel who was the Democratic Revolution Party's (PRD) candidate. The National Action Party (PAN), Felipe Calderon won the elections thus becoming the new President of Mexico. Early on his presidencial period he decided to declare war on the powerful drug cartels. The power of the cartels had been growing constantly since the 80's and 90's.

Image

The Mexican Drug War broke out, spreading violence, death and an indiscriminate bloodshed in a country that has fought for so long, looking for prosperity, stability and progress.

Only time will tell the fate of this nation, that has never known the true meaning of peace...
Truth is... That the events that were to come in the new decade, would once again reshape the nation... And the entire world...

Thanks for your reply :-)

Tomorrow I'll be posting the Timeline from 2011 to 2020, most of it will follow the same as the original Shattered World storyline (which comes in the game's manual), the only difference will be some events added to Mexico, this events will completely change the course of the story as they will set the scenario for this AAR.

After posting the Timeline I'll proceed to post the First Episode on Thursday, which will contain actual gameplay footage of the campaing progress, mixed with character dialoges and sequences that will greatly complement the analytical and gaming part of the AAR. There are big chances that tomorrow I'll post some character bios and start some video editing :-)

Chapter Zero: The Path to 2020

Post by Liustares »

Ok, finally we are getting started :-) . After thinking carefuly the timeline for some days, its finally done!!!
Here's the Chapter ZERO. It's based and deeply inspired on "The Story So Far... A Shattered World" which is BattleGoat's original storyline for the Shattered World Scenario in the game. As you'll see the events here are parallel to the ones of Shattered World.
I tried to develop this storyline as realistically as possible as I could  . I hope you enjoy this one, there's more coming this weekend cause I'll start the campaign and Episode 1.
It would be nice and I would be grateful if those who read this could post some comments and opinions :D . I'd like to thank to those who are reading this AAR which is in its introductory stages :-) .

NOW!!! Let the Speculative Fiction Begin!!!!!! :D

============================================================================================
Chapter ZERO- A Shattered World: The Path to 2020

November 2011-Drug War Escalates in Central Mexico

Altought the Government continued putting its efforts on fighting the drug cartels, the situation started to worsen as corruption, unenployment and criminality raised continuously in the eastern coast of Mexico thus spreading the consequences to the central area. The once northern focus of the drug war was broken as some of the cartels managed to stablish their power in strategic locations near the capital. The cassualties raised terribly, this time, over 30,000 were reported dead or disappeared during the year. Development oportunities commenced to lower.

Image

March 2012-Political Scandal Raises Tensions in Pre-Electoral Campaign

As the three main political forces PRI (Centre), PAN (Centre-Right), and PRD (Left Wing) prepared and named their candidates to the presidency, the public communications media got plagued by the topic. The PRI had been growing in influence during the last decade as the PAN showed its inefficiency in ruling the country and the PRD was experiencing internal difficulties as discussions between members of the party were intensifing. The PRI launched a massive propaganda campaign which let it got advantage over its opponents. In late March it was discovered that the party had been using a higher budget than the reglamentary stablished by the law, surpasing it by nearly one hundred and fifty million pesos (almost fifty million dollars), the PRD denounced such irregularities inmediatly but lack of proof made them useless as neither the PAN or the Federal Government members agreed totally on such controversy. Protests filled the streets in the capital since then.

Image

July 2012-Severe Controversies Arise During Electoral Process

As the electoral process was being held, uncertanity and despair arised in the political factions and the society. Riots had been ocurring in the capital a month before the elections were held, protesters acused a political conspirancy by economical, empresarial and financial elites to commit fraud during the process. Vote inspectors were discovered manipulating the electoral packages in several municipalities. Once again, the lack of proof or investigation by federal police was the obstacle and the acusations were considered as “attempts against the democratic process”. At the end of the day the final result was given in public media... The Hegemonic party had recovered its power again...

Image

March 2013-Rampant Corruption Rules Mexican Government

Suddenly, the PRI ordered to dissolve many of the worker's syndicates across the country, this action outraged the public in many cases, but gave benefits to the big bussiness companies and enterprises which took advantage on the situation. There was no doubt that the economical elites had intervened in last year's elections... As the drug war continued, it was obvious that given the nature of the conflict it was going to last for a long time, possibly during various decades. Then, the government decided to stablish top secret “negotiations” with some of the cartel's leaders, the war took a new form as this time some of the cartels were supported by the government to fight the other ones, in exchange, the supported mafias would get their interests protected by the government via a “Non Interference Policy”. Soon, corrupt politicians got their power positions backed by both, the drug traders and federal forces. Some others, the “lucky ones”, were enought wealthy to finance their own secret police units and in some cases, even their paramilitary forces.

Image

September 2013-National Liberation Coalition Founded

By the second half of the year it was clear that the opposition Parties wouldn't recover their lost popularity soon. Some of them vanished completely, others tried to held what was left of them. Political initiative commenced to rise in the discontent sectors of the population. There had to exist a strong opposition force if a change was wanted. The National Liberation Coalition was founded as a leftist and opposition party in order to defeat the overwhelming PRI influence during the next elections on 2018. The Party continued to grow constantly as civilians and ex-members from other parties joined the cause. Perhaps the most “curious” feature of the party was that, while being absolutely leftist, it oposed itself to accept the classic and modern socialist, anarchist and communist ideas, labeling them as tyranic and opressive, the party members, instead voted to create its own ideology, one that could perfectly fit the national situation.

Image

May 2014-Mexican Drug War “Ends”

As the “Non Interference Policy” gave its fruits, several cartels collapsed early on 2014. In May it was announced on national news that the rest of the drug leaders (those supported by the government) had been either captured or killed during massive operatives by the special forces. The truth was that by telling such false news, the government was fulfilling its pact with the remaining cartels as their leaders were given inmense inmunity by being protected in this way, the hypothesis was “If they are supposedly death, there's no way to look for them anymore”. This gave great benefits to the economy as the tourism industry returned to work at its full potential. Neverthless, this was at the cost of completely plaguing the national politics with the already overwhelming corruption. Cartels continued their operations in the darkness, backed by corrupt paramilitary forces and secret police units, thus benefiting their own economy by the demand of drugs in the United States and Canada. The army was withdrawn from the streets.

Image

October 2014-The NLC's Political Force on the Rise... The Party “Confrontates” the Government

As the popularity of the National Liberation Coalition was growing, peaceful protests were guided across the country. Countless public speeches were held in several places, this had a great effect on the most affected sectors of the population (low and middle classes and indigenous people mainly), as a consequence, the Coalition raised its influence and began making acusations (supported by evidence) against the Federal Government. As expected, such acusations were obviously denied by the government which in the international stage, claimed that the democraticaly choosen order was in danger by extremist and radical groups.

Image

February 2015-Civil Unrest in Mexico

Reports appeared, telling that national economy was increasing its level, nevertheless, despite telling the truth, the economical growth didn't mirrored its effects on the middle and lower classes. Wealth distribution became even more irregular than it was on past years. Once again, the NLC guided the opposition during marches in the capital. The internal politics and social situation continued to destabilize as clashes became common between protesters and security forces. The situation became generalized in the economicaly poor southwestern states (Guerrero, Oaxaca and Michoacán).

Image

July 2015-National Liberation Coalition labeled as “Terrorist Organization”

Early on July, the government coninued to lose control over the population and when the situation became insupportable it decided to react without waiting anymore, then the government requested assistance from the CIA. The mexican government was favourable to american interests as the private sector was given privileges and the petroleum was being sold at reduced prices, not to mention, that the least thing the US wanted was a communist-inspired coup like those of the Cold War, it was decided that a small group of CIA agents were to be deployed to cooperate with the mexican government against the NLC. A terrorist attempt happened on July 14th, a bomb exploded in Mexico near the National Palace (it is the seat of the federal executive in Mexico) killing 10 people and injuring other 17, it was, indeed, a false flag attempt to be blamed on the NLC. Late on that same month an operation was conducted to completely disable the opposition party, on July 25th “Operation Black Thunder” was launched, the objectives were to take control over the administration centers and the headquaters of the National Liberation Coalition and capture the leaders of the movement in that day's night. A coordination error revealed the operation to members of the NLC as a group of paramilitary forces attacked their objective several minutes before the rest. The information was inmediatly spread over the members of the party across several states, many were evacuated (including the leaders of the social movement), several others were killed trying to resist as the paramilitary forces opened fire against the opposers. The operation ended in a bloodbath... The Headquaters of the National Liberation Coaliton were taken.

Image

November 2015-Mexican Civil War Breaks Out

As many managed to escape during Operation Black Thunder, the remnants of the party were radicalized and the movement evolved into an uprising against the government in the form of urban guerrilla warfare. Since the past July, the members of the NLC organized the movement and achieved to get cuban support, in September a new communist government seized power in Moscow, the NLC sent a delegate to Moscow in October, partial support was obtained from Russia. Civil war broke out in the Central and South Eastern areas of the country, the conflict would intensify over the upcoming months.

Image

February 2016-NATO Considers Intervention in the Mexican Issue

The North Atlantic Council began to consider making an intervention in Mexico in order to stop the rising violence. Economical unstability across the European economies was the only thing preventing an intervention. At the end, the initiative was discarded.

Image

June 2016-Yucatan Declares Independence

The civil war continued to ravage across the country. The main focus of the war was in the capital, where the urban landscape worked in favor of the rebel forces, the army centered its efforts on protecting the capital, meanwhile, taking advantage of this, the continuous guerrilla ofensives in the south eastern states managed to collapse some of the regional governments, the Yucatan peninsula fell under the hands of the rebels which declared the independence of the Republic of Yucatan, the new republic sent its revolutionary forces to its border and focused its resources on supporting the revolutionary struggle in Central Mexico.

Image
Image

May-2017-US Sparks International Crisis

With the return of the Manifest Destiny in the US, Canada and Mexico decided to close their borders. European powers began to airdrop units to aid in the defense of Canada, meanwhile, the mexican government got diplomatic support from Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Spain. The mexican army had to split its forces to accomplish both tasks, the defense of the country and the containment of the rebels, this weakened the government's resistance efforts which began to face continuous failure.

International pressure against the US was the only thing saving Mexico and Canada from a military invasion.

Image

September 2017-Monterrey City Captured by NLC's Forces

On the night of September 5th, the rebel guerrillas launched a massive ofensive over the city of Monterrey which was considered as an economical strategic point. Armored units helped with air support managed to inflict massive cassualties against the numerically superior rebel forces. The 5 hour long battle ended with rebel forces encircling the armored forces, thus forcing them to retreat. Rebels took over the city, nevertheless this was a pyrrhic victory with cassualties on the rebels being counted over five hundred, in contrast, the army lost less than thirty soldiers. Over the next days the army launched sporadic attacks which almost put the rebels on the brink of defeat.

Image

May 2018-Battle for Mexico City

With the Yucatan peninsula and the city of Monterrey under rebel control, the army began to demoralize while rebels captured strategic points next to the capital. Rebel groups continued spontaneous engagements in the capital. In february, the city of Toluca fell under rebel control, continuous offensives were launched against the capital in the next month. The battle for Mexico City started in May, government members were evacuated to Veracruz where the war efforts continued to be organized. The battle endured for several days, from May 7th to May 16th. Finally, the remaining forces surrendered.

Image

July 2018-Mexican Army Loyalty Level Lowers

With the rebel forces on the advantage, soldiers commenced to defect from the army. Many were the ones who joined the rebel forces, and few were the ones that were joining the rebel forces since the start of the war. Now, it were the rebel forces who were on the ofenssive, while federal forces were put in defensive stance in a desperate attempt to turn back the course of the war.

Image

November 2018-Federal Government Collapses

The inminent defeat of the federal forces was unavoidable. Many members of the government decided to leave the country before the rebels could capture them, the president escaped to the United States, leaving the leadership to the National Defense Secretary who decided to surrender in order to avoid an useless and bloody last stand.

Image

October 2018-Union of National Restoration (UNR) Created

After a month-long continuous discussion, the new ruling force decided to create the “Union of National Restoration”, in other worlds, that's how the newly stablished government would be called, making strong emphasis on the reconstruction of the national infrastructures, the economy, the political structure, and the introduction of reforms in all aspects of the country. No president or identifiable authority was choosen to take the lead. Elections were to be held on December 2019 so the elected candidate could take power in January 2020. The Republic of Yucatan returned to the Mexican Federation.

Image

From December 2018 to October 2019-The UNR Launches National Restabilization Campaign

The unemployment was one of the main concerns after the war, this was solved in the creation of jobs during the reconstruction program that the government launched in order to recover the damaged infrastructures, repare the deteriorated structures, build new facilities and more. The reconstruction and creation of new factories helped people to keep a job in them. The government managed to control poverty in this way. The economy had to be pushed and forced at its max limits in order to speed up the restabilization process.

Image

The sales of petroleum greatly helped the treasury to afford social spending and free healthcare campaings and the restoration of free education. Mexico stablished close relations with the nations in Central America, Cuba and its new main trading partner, Moscow.
World's unstability meant that the country had to rebuild its decreased army in order to stand a chance in any possible future military conflict. The government encouraged new recruits to join the army, the high military salaries helped a lot in acomplishing this task.

Image

The US final collapse in the mid 2019 spread economical crisis around the world. The mexican government was barely able to resist the incoming effect which produced negative effects on the treasury, it was again the rich petroleum reserves the ones that saved the country. But now, the main concern wasn't the economy at all as tensions raised with the Pro-Manifest Destiny territories that emerged after the US fell. Soon, Texas and California became the main threat to national security, meanwhile New Mexico became Mexico's main ally in North America. It was the month of October in 2019, and with the economy at an almost stable level, it was time to focus on the national defense.

Image
Image

During October, the Pre-Electoral Campaing oficially initiated. With no existing parties in national politics and the UNR as the ruling force, candidates from the UNR had to be choosen during the process.

Image

November 2019-The Covenant Seizes Power

With permission of the UNR, the misterious “Eagle's Covenant” seizes power in Mexico. Few are really sure on what the intriguing Covenant really is, rumors are heard but no one can ensure anything, the uncertainty reigns... Only one thing is sure, the Covenant is more than a simple political force... The Covenant goes far from that... “The Covenant is Mexico, isn't it?” Some start asking others even in the international stage, in the external opinion, but no one answers... Truth is, that the Covenant is a far more complex and deeper entity than everyone can imagine...

Image

December 2019-Electoral Campaign Reaches End

As the elections were held the country prepared to receive its new leader. Finally, on December 25th the results were revealed at 7:00 PM. With the elections being approved by the Covenant, Natanael Valdivia Zaldívar became the new president.

Re: Mexico: Ascent of the Eagle's Covenant----Chapter ZERO!!

Ok guys, I want to ask you something, tell me your opinion about this:

What do you prefer? I give two options ?+

-This AAR to continue having as many images as it has by now?
-Or, Reducing the image quantity?

Please, tell me your opinion about this  , I usually tend to add images in order to make it more attractive or interesting, but I think that it may also seem very big and probably annoying due to it having lots of images.

EPISODE 1: AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE==================================================

CHAPTER 1: AWAKENING

Image

Suddenly his eyes opened... He had a strange dream, a really strange dream that seemed to last forever. Questions commenced to wander his mind... To invade his entire being. He wanted to get inmediate answers, but nevertheless... He didn't had any idea on where to start... Everyting seemed so confusing -Nevermind, it may be just that I'm nervous- He told himself, and as he was sitting on the left side of the bed he tought -Finally, the day has arrived, today I get an enormous responsability on my hands... An oportunity that I never imagined, since my childhood, that I would ever get... May the entire responsability for my future actions an decisions fall on me...- Natanael got up, and prepared for the great day.

The sun seemed to have a special shine on that morning, it looks like it was announcing the end of an era, and the initiation of a new path for everybody, there was an uncomon athmosphere, a surreal feeling swarming the entire nation. Meanwhile on the streets, lots of people were waiting to see their new president on it's way to “Renaissance Square” in the center of Mexico City where he was to receive officialy its new charge. Soldiers marched on the streets during the preliminary ceremony, there were also various checkpoints stablished by security forces on many places in the city, helicopters and jets from the air force participated also in an air parade while some of them were patrolling the zones around the capital. On TV, the news following the event were being broadcasted.

The people began to clap as they saw the president making its appearance in the place. President Natanael delivered his speech to the people:

“Ladies and Gentlemen... People of Mexico... Comrades... Today is the dawn of a new era in the history of our nation, we all shall stand together, united to the very end... Cause now our nation is finally free. We made our revolution and liberated our country from the sinister shadow of corruption and opression, which had infested all levels of our society... We purified this long suffered country, and now, it is time for all of us, to participate and face the upcoming challenges and obstacles that the destiny may put in our path... Support the cause! Support your country! And let the Freedom rule our daily life, and guide us towards a new stage... Go and make your best effort everyday in the name of Mexico... The awakening of a nation has finally arrived, and we must be all part of it...”

Just because the Japanese happened to build one near multiple fault lines doesn't make them any more dangerous than they were before the Earthquake.
