Pressing the Attack

Post by catatonic »

October 9th, 2027

U.S. Recon and airborne M777E1 artillery units arrive via airlift at Japanese-held Changchun air field (top-left) and then attack the fifteen Chinese S-400 Triumf super-long-range AA units stationed at Changtu:

Image

The attacking U.S. Recon units are the angry-looking ones at the top-left. The U.S. main body waits in Korea (bottom-right) for the big U.S. offensive on Beijing.

Meanwhile, U.S. air-power is arriving from the CONUS at the newly aquired U.S. air fields throughout the region.

Chinese MAR is now down to 1%. Will they surrender?

Beijing Recon

Post by catatonic »

October 17th, 2027

Here is the latest sat-photo of the U.S. attack on Beijing.

Image

The U.S. (right) needs to take out the long-range AA at Jinxi (center) in order to allow it to capture the Chinese Captial at Beijing (left) with an airborne attack:

The U.S. fighting its way into the Bohia Sea with a naval attack seems ill-advised, since the U.S. has about 230 tanks and another 1000-some land units parked in Korea ready, ready and willing to charge into Beijing.

If you disapprove of this timid, conservative type of military strategy then consider this - at this point in the game the U.S. has lost 139 units to China, but has killed 2547 of China's units. And very few of these were Chinese garrison units.

US Builds a By-Pass

Post by catatonic »

October 25th, 2027

My commander in the field suggested that we meerly bypass the Chinese strong-point at Jinxi and I agreed. Here is the current tacticial map:

Image

There are two nearby air fields that can accomidate large U.S. transport aircarft. We will collect U.S. Marine II units from their base on Sakhalin Island, aboard huge Boing 747-400ER transport aircraft and fly them to these air fields. From one or more of these air fields the U.S. will then conduct a massive airborne assault on Beijing with dozens of air-dropped (vertically envoloped) Marine units.

China's MAR remains at 1%.

Guess Who's Dropping In?

Post by catatonic »

November 4th, 2027

The U.S. mounts a massive airborne assault on the Chinese Capital of Beijing. 90 U.S. Marine II units are flown to air fields within striking distance of Beijing. These para-troop/commandos are then loaded aboard Boeing 747-400ER transport aircraft.

Image

A ruse is devised to divert enemy AA from firing at the vital, expensive aircraft that are actually transporting the assault troops. A dozen C-130 transport aircraft are send ahead towards Beijing as "bait" for the remaining AA defenses in China's Capital. The actual transport aircraft, carrying 90 Maine units are ordered to "Escort" the lead C-130 planes.

The plan works and the entire 90 unit airborne assault force is successfully air-dropped into the enemy Capital city.

The plan is a success but the Chinese meerly move their Capital city to Shanghi, about 1300 km South-East of Beijing. Now I have to go down there and dig them out again.

China's End

Post by catatonic »

November 5th, 2027

The transport planes drop their assault team into Shanghai, and then continue to air patrol over the city, supplying the ground units until they take the city and the region:

Image

The crowd goes wild...

As all supply in China ends and all of her former units' health-bars turn red, about 100 fighter aircraft run out of fuel and crash all over China.

BDA - Entire China camapign, including taking Korea:

60,000 missiles fired.
US lost 264 units with 115,000 casualties.
China lost 2870 units with about 1 million casualties.

US Goes for the Big Win

Post by catatonic »

November 7th, 2027

Since I just cannot stand to leave anything unfinished I have decided to continue this game to the finish and win it.

I am at somewhat of a disadvantage since for may game years I have simply been letting the game run RL over-night, un-attended. The next RL day about one game year has passed. I then try to administrate the US so that it keeps up with its production, research, diplomacy and military preparations. But the US is left unattended for one year at a time.

The result is that Tech research has suffered, since the research queue runs low after a few game months. My TL is just 134 and there are a lot of Tech prerequsites that I don't have yet. I am still using the same armored units that I started the game with. I only have about a dozen laser APCs, and my best tank in the field is the M1080 FCS, TL 113.

My MilCap is way too high - I have 147 fabs active. I need to lower this drastically if I am going to make any more allies. The crazy thing is that I have 82 land fabs opened and none of them are building anything.

Diplomacy is in pretty good shape, so I will not have to defeat the whole world. But there are still about 71 neutral Regions out there that I will either have to slay or seduce. Doubtless many will perish at the hands of others. Here is what the map looks like:

Image

The first order of business will be to repair damaged Units and sort out all of the new Chinese Units that I have won. Then I will finish moving all of my CONUS Units to China. Once that has been accomplished I can deactivate all of my CONUS bases, something that I have wanted to do for a long time.

Then I will need to build new production facilities for my new one billion Chinese citizans.

My ally South Africa is not doing too well against its enemies, so I need to send them a lot of weapons so that they can start kicking some serious African ass. Otherwise I will eventually have to go down there myself and capture 52 Regions.

When all of this is completed I can start moving my 3141 units and 500 ships West out of China and start capturing some more regions.

Stay tuned.

My Ally is my Enemy - US DOWs Kazakhstan

Post by catatonic »

NOTE: The Game Settings have been changed to "Fixed Capitals" and "Allied Victory".

December 3rd, 2027

Important news just in:

Major oil fields in the Northern Siberian Ural Mountains are under attack by German and Israeli units.

Image

These oil resources belonged to our ally Kazakhstan, along with other extensive oil fields in Southern Kazakhstan. The US Supreme Ruler decided to beat Germany and Israel to these valuable resources by taking Kazakhstan.

Relations were severed with Kazakhstan, which caused them to immeidately DOW the US - they never liked us much anyway.

Plans were drawn up for an airborne assault on the Kazakh capital at Astana. The city was fully garrisoned and was guarded by 7 Fahd-30 APCs and 10 Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters - too many for a simple stack of Marines. An over-stack of M113A3 APCs was chosen for the Main attack group instead, with an escort of 10 F-22D Fighter/Bombers. Huge Boeing 747-400ER transports would drop the APCs and then make long-range supply sortes to keep them supplied during the battle.

Multiple DD simulations highlight the risks of this plan - the numerous Kazakh SA-10B Grumble AA units near the drop-zone and the enemy barracks and air fields within assistance range of the Capital. It was a bold, risky plan, but one that could pay off handsomly in oil wealth.

The simulations also indicated that the target oil fields were likely to be ceeded to other regions when Kazakhstan fell, therefore many supplemental air-drops were planned - Attack Group "A" for the Northern-most Ural oil field being invaded by Germany, Attack Group "B" for the adjacent oil field under attack by Israel and a third Attack Group "C" for the oil field South of Astana. And finally Attack Groups "D", "E" and "F" were formed to stake out the huge Kazakh oil field North of Lake Baikal in Central Siberia.

December 12th

Attack groups "A", "B" and "C" are dropped into Western Kazakhstan. Group "A" is surrounded by dozens of Kazakh 9K58-B Smerch MLRS and T-80UD/T-84 tanks that have been busily fending off German attackers. Group "C" also has to fight off nearby Kazakh armored units.

Group "D", consisting of a dozen airborne Recon Units is dropped on the Western shore of Lake Baikel where they spread out to cover multiple Kazakh villages and oil/gas facilities. Group "E", consisting of 8 airborne M8 tanks is dropped on the enemy air fab at Step, near the Eastern Kazakh border. And the last Assault Group "F" is dropped on a second AC fab at Nerchinsk, just North of Step.

December 14th
Attack logistics require that the Main attack on the Kazakh Capital be delayed for a dangerously long time. Each minute German and Israeli units are advancing further and further into the target oil fields. And the other attack groups grown weaker from attacks and low supply.

The Main attack finally gets under way as 6 US Boeing transports weave their way around Kazakh AA defenses and air-drop 22 APCs on Astana. The first attack is followed with a second drop by 7 C-5A transports of an additional 28 M901E Anti-tank units.

Kazakh units immediately dispatch relief units in the form of 11 APCs, several tanks, two MLRS who break off their fight with Israeli units and head East in defense of their Capital. But worst of all, dozens of Mig-25RB Foxbat-B fighter/bombers decent upon Astana from two enemy air field to the Norht-East. A furball ensues with a few US F-22Bs Multi-Role Fighters vainly attempting to keep keep the Fox-bastards off the Main assault group.

The Kazakh garrison APCs hang on stubbornly and US resupply becomes imperative. This is extremely risky for the C-5A transports who repeatedly sorte and return from Astana with battle damages. Additional and less risky supply runs must be executed for the other support assault groups as well.

December 18th

After nearly four weeks of delays and a very long and drawn-out battle for the Capital, US forces finally capture the Kazakhstan Capital.

December 19th

Kazakhstan and its wealth of petroleum reserves falls to the US. Other assault groups are successful in keeping nearly 100% of former Kazakhstan in US hands.

The Oil Business

Post by catatonic »

December 20rd, 2027

The emergency in Kazakhstan diverted me from my domestic duties. Now, flushed with victory I discovered that my Production was in a shambles due to my recent aquisition of China and now of the huge Kazakhstan. I was short in Food, Fresh Water, Timber and Comsumer Goods but this was OK - they all could be bought cheaper on the WM.

Industrial Goods were behind but I had deactivated all of my facilities because again, it had been cheaper to buy IGs on the WM. I simply turned them back on.

I was short on Petroleum, but with the new aquisition of THREE oil fields from Kazakhstan I would soon be flush with oil.

Uranium and Electric Power were a different, serious matter which would take a long time to correct.

I begin to develop my new Kazakh petroleum reserves by constructing oil/gas fields on my best new oil "patches". Some patches lack supply so it is necessary to first build series of Supply Deposts to "jump-start" the process.

I also go to Alaska and begin to develope my North Slope oil reserves.

Foreign Aid Package

Post by catatonic »

November 30th, 2027

The US donated hundreds of Chinese artillery and AA pieces to South Africa. Yes, I did want to aid South Africa in its efforts to change stubborn neutral Regions into an allied Region (South Africa), however flooding a region with that many artillery pieces is a mistake. Why? Because to AI does not send out artillery or AA out to conquor other regions unless it has the infantry and tanks to go with them.

So all I really accomplished was, after the gift weapons were repaired, they just parked in an obstructive circle around the SA Capital at Pretoria - unused. Better to have scrapped them and gotten the scrap value out of them.

CONUS Shut-Down

Post by catatonic »

January 1st, 2028

The US donated a huge quantity of Chinese fighter/bombers, Interceptors and patrol aircraft to South Africa in a continuing attempt to purge US inventories of obsolete units while at the same time strengthening allies who are in a position to destroy other stubborn neutral Regions.

Jan 12th, 2028

US donates arms to its Caribean island allies as defense against Cuba. US defenses at Guantanmo, Cuba, Key West and Puerto Rico have been stepped up do the the fresh militant streak that Cuba has shown of late.

The US began a massive base shut-down throughout the CONUS by using the DD master Reserves list of bases. All newly fabricated units discovered at these bases were moved to the West Coast and transported to China.

All CONUS Barracks were closed and unwanted units were scrapped. All but a few vital air fields were deactivated and useful aircraft were ferried to storage at a new air fab near San Diego. All CONUS sea piers were emptied and deactivated, except for several still in use on the West Coast.

A few units were left behind to garrison the Capital at Washington, D.C.

The problem with this is that most CONUS fabs are still activated but now their reserve bases are closed.

Feb 1

The shutdown of CONUS bases is completed. A few dozen VTOL aircraft are parked in San Diego awaiting transport to China.

All CONUS land fabs remain activated but idle. All CONUS air fabs are deactivated. All naval fabs remain activated, but only 10 CONUS ones are fabricating ships.

This continues to present a huge MilCap to the rest of the world that is sure to cause wide-spread Provocation against the US that will hurt it in its next big diplomatic initiative. And the thousands of US Units in China cannot move to their next target until the results of this initiative are known.

All US UN ratings remain in the green.

The US has 2.4 trillion dollars in its treasury with no debt. Its balance is on an upwards swing.
The US GDP/c is a health $42,269 and its Inflation rate is zero.
Unemployment is 6.7%.
The current Administration was reelected once and DAR is a healthy 37%.
The Region is at DEFCON 5 and MAR is 100%.

More Successful US Diplomacy

Post by catatonic »

August 5th, 2028

The US continues its marathon diplomatic initiative. Any region that does not sign up and become a part of the "club" will before long become a US territory instead of an ally. The vast US force in China and Korea remain on stand-down awaiting a target selection from their Supreme Leader.

The US remains at DEFCON 5.
Its population stands at 1.5 billion.
Its treasury has risen to $3.4 trillion
Its Tech Level in now at 136.

The US is producing producing land units at 38 of its 47 Asian fabs - a number carefully adjusted to keep the US with the fourth largest MilCap, after Israel, Germany and Pakistan.

The US is currently producing M1080 FCS tanks, LAV-MU APCs, M1211A2 artillery, MIM-212 AAs and M1118 ATs. Asian fabs are used to eliminate the need to transport the weapons over-seas from the CONUS.
Ship and plane production have halted and all such fabs have been deactivated.

Diplomatic Summary:

Remaining Neutral Regions
Central America - 3
South America - 4
Europe - 3
Middle East - 3

All of Africa remains neutral except for South Africa and the Indian Ocean islands.

August 1st

Azerbaijan agrees to become a US ally.

August 6th

Turkmenistan agrees to become a US ally.

August 27th

Moldovia agrees to become a US ally.

August 29th

Montenegto agrees to become a US ally.

No More Mister Nice Guy

September 2nd, 2028

Tajikistan agrees to become a US ally.

September 15th

Albania agrees to become a US ally.

All of Europe is now allied with the US and that concludes our diplomatic tour-de-force.

A big problem at this point for the US is that it has little or no CB against 11 of the remaining neutrals such as Chile and Oman. Yet from the Scoreboard one can easily determine that all of these regions clearly the US with an "Outrage"ed passion.

Hopefully some of these "hard cases" will come around and join the club the next time the US makes the diplomatic rounds with its check-book. Or maybe another region will conquor them - one can only hope - and then supply weapons.

Meanwhile the Supreme Leader is now quite comfortable with settling for the allies that the US has and to just conquor the rest.

So let's get started!
