- World volatility (hot relations) very high (hopefully there are many wars ongoing)
- Military very hard
- Aproval low

- Economic very easy, no debt, initial funds high: the idea is to give all the AIs a better economic start, as well as easy game conditions to allow them to finance their wars. As human player i had never, in not a single of my games yet, problems financing the war, as well as research or social spending, this settings shall help the AI in those areas.


Everything else is standard.

Modified:
- Garrisons have the stats of Conscripts.
- Land fabrication facilities have 3 fabrication slots each.
- Naval fabrication facilities have 2 fabrication slots each.
- Missile fabrication facilities have 20 slots each.
- Upped the resource node production to meet the increased fabrication capacities.
- Added some military unit designs taken from Unbalanced World mod by Harry0708

House rules: Intended to make WC more difficult for the player.
- No Garrisons, all cities must be defended actively or lost.
- No Alliances
- No Nukes
- No cheats (of course)

Thats it. This will be my second AAR so far. The objective is WC, but we will see how far i come. GC Campaign, with some modding at start. Cheats are forbidden, of course.

This is our great homeland: Mongolia. We have only two neighbours, Russia in the north, China in the south. This is the first time i play Mongolia, so lets review the start situation before making any decisions.

Economy

The land may be big, but it is almost empty of any resources at all. Very few spots of agrar, water, timber and ore. Some high resource spots of coal near border to the south. No oil, no uranium.
This is our whole industiral capacity: a medium Consumer facility and a small power coal industry.
Our budget show a total of 421 mill available and our GDP/c is 1918 $.
Inflation is by 3,3% and unemployment by 6,6%.
The population is also quite low: 2,8 mill people.

Military

We have a total of 77 land units and 4 air units. All clearly obsolete.
Just one military land fabrication facility available, no air.
Research level of 80, only one research slot available.
We have no military goods production atm

Diplomacy

China hates us and will declare war any time now. A real problem with our starting conditions if we want to WC and not just survive.
Russia is neutral.
We have some friends, specially interesting are Taiwan and India, both with many researched techs that we don't own right now.


Well, this is the summary of our starting situation. We are almost at the start of a war with China, a 1.3 bill populated country with thousand of military untis available at start and many resources. We have almost no own production and will be forced to import a lot of goods to survive, specially oil, iron, industry goods and military goods. This by a initial budget of whole 421 mill. We have almost no population to support any big expansion of industry or military. And finally our tech knowledge is that far behind any standards that it will take many, many game years (decades?) to even arrive to lvl 100 :-? .

Hmmm... thats far worse than i had expected :-( .

But don't panic!
Everything is easier if we deal with all this problems one by one. Let avoid being overwhelmed by this data. What we need is a plan, a cunning plan to begin our WC....

A plan is what we needed... fortunately i have one.

First let us ensure that our ministers don't do things we don't want.
Industry: Order to stock military materials, we will need them.
Research: Lock minister from research spending, he can suggest designs and techs.
Finance: Lock minister from social spending, from taxation and from bonds. Put social spending at 100% in all areas, decrease tax in unemployment, property and pension to 1.5%. Because of our actual finance situation we will not change the other tax settings yet. At the long run, though, i plan to decrease them, specially the sales tax in order to improve consumption, but not now that we don't produce enough of almost anything.
Military: Lock minister from military spending and garrison control. All fabrication in human hands. The ROE sets changed to initiative high, contact to engage. Units are not available for minister atm.

Now to our plan. The first step is clear: we need more money.

First step: Money! Money makes the world ....

Money. We need billions. Money will allow us to begin some construction plans, will allow us to buy some techs and designs and will, hopefully, allow us to buy peace with China as soon as they declare war. Don't worry, we will fight China soon, but it will in our terms.

So we must make some billions in a few days. Easy, what? But, how to do it? Well, the same as in real life: lets trade worldwide. Unfortunately we have no resources to trade for, so we must begin trading unit designs and/or techs. We have almost no design or tech that anyone would like to buy though, thus what we need is to spend some millions to make some billions.

What we are looking for is a unit design that we can achieve to buy with our 421 mill and that would be bought by all countries in the world. There are many, we must just search for them. Fortunately i know one that fulfill those conditions: the spanish air transport unit design CN-295.

I send the trade proposal to Spain. They want 204 mill for the design. Ouch! Half of our budget. But it is just an investment. We accept. Now we pause the game again.

Time to trade. We send a trade proposal to every and each country in the world that could buy it (in this case the country must have more than 2 bill budget). Just be sure the trade bar is always green before sending.

After one day we have already 10 bill. On the 4th day all trades are closed and our budget shows 23 bill. Nice.

In between i have ordered the construction of 1 Industrial, 1 Consumer and 1 Military goods production facilites. These are basic and we want to have them online as soon as possible. So i decide to build the first military units: engineers to speed building up. I will build 2 stacks of 6 engineers. Our land unit building capacity is 3, so it will take some time to build them.

We are not done yet with making money. Soon we will begin with another trade run for another design and repeat the process until we have about 200 bill.

But first, now that we have the cash, lets see if we can find a nice infantry design to make the bulk of our future army. Also we will look around for a good tank design. Lets face it, with our current tech level and our low population we have no other choice than look for designs that ensure low casualties in war or our WC will finish almost before it started.

Meanwhile trade goes on. We buy and trade some unit designs and even some techs like the "air defense sites" one. I am trying to trade only designs or techs that can actually help the AIs. I try to avoid techs or units that would make no difference for them.

The result of our trade efforts: On 10th January 2020 our budget shows 264 bill and we have even bought some new unit designs and techs for ourselves 8) .

Second step: Improving our Army - Swords out, Kalashnikov in....

Our military units are few and outdated. As we saw regarding our tech level, we can't expect improving it with own designs in this stage of the game. If we want modern designs we must buy them from other countries. I am not looking for the best design in each category, just modern ones that can fight in more or less equal conditions with the chinese army. Main goal here is to avoid as much casualties as possible, then our population can't sustain much at the moment.

We must concentrate in land and air forces for obvious reasons. Our land forces will see the building of an army consisting in:
- Apc-INF
- Tanks
- Some Rec units
- Heavy artillery
- Some AA units

First step is review what worldwide is produced. After some time looking designs we come to our decisions. The 2020 mongolian army will be upgraded with the following designs:

Infanterie: the APC taiwanese model CM-32 Yunpao

Tanks: this time we will try the british challenger model, it looks quite nice.
Rec: american M3A4 Bradley CFV
Artillery: american XM2001 Crusader 155 mm
AA: american MID-210 THAAD ERINT


Our air forces must be also improved, we must even build our first aircraft fabrication facility, then atm there is none. Considering that it will take time and a lot of resources to build them, we must look for an aircraft design that can be both, fighter and bomber, at the same time. A multi-role fighter then. Different possibilities are reviewed and a decision is taken: F35C-CV-Lightning II. :D

Most of our initial fighting will probably happen south of the country in semi-desert regions. We will need therefore also some supply transport units. We choose to build both land and air supply units.

In the next months we will begin with the building of new land fabrication facilities up to a total of 5, 15 units production capacity, as well as 4 new aircraft fabrication facilites, 4 units production capactiy. Also the first missile fabrication facility will be build to produce air-ground missiles for our aircrafts.

Unfortunately having the designs doesn't mean we have the army yet. For the next months, until the units are build, our country will be in a very weak defensive position. Diplomacy comes here handy and, if the worst case of war with China happens, we hope it will delay all actions until we are prepared.


We have enough money to finance these military build up. It will take some time though. We will start also to buy all for us still unkown techs that are available worldwide. If necessary a new trade run will be made to keep our budget in the billion size.

20th January 2020 our fears are confirmed: China declares war on us.

There is no time to waste, inmediately our diplomats send a peace offer to China. We are willing to pay 3 bill for our peace. It should be agreed before too much land get lost or the first fights take place.

Probably it will come sooner or later to a war with China, but it should happen when we have a minimum chance of victory.

Interesting for us is that China is now also at war with Russia and with Kazakhstan in the west, as well as with many others. Thats probably the reason why they accepted our peace offer in the first place. We will follow this conflicts nearly, as i hope to get some advantage from both fronts. But, more on that later.
Now our building plans are ongoing. The first engineers are build and helping with the construction.

Also we get news that of the first country that has been conquered since the start of the game:

Third step: Let us build up, build up...

February 2020

During the month of february the build up continues. The single consumer, industrial and military facilities are built, giving our economy a substantial push. We produce more consumer goods than needed and therefore we begin exporting them. We lack from industrial goods still though and must continue importing them. The home production of military goods will allow us to build up our new army, while slowly but steady stockpiling the rest to ensure we have supplies to fight when war operations begin.

I order the construction of the first research center, that will give us a second research slot. Also, the first iron mines will be build just a few km west of the capital. When they are finished, two coal power plants will be added. Our electric power deficit is really big and we must import 90% of our needs.

Our two stacks of engineers are built. We begin building the new APC designs and with them the first new operational forces of our future army.

Also in february a new conquest is being reported worldwide:

4th Feb 2020 Georgia is conquered by Russia


March 2020
The two iron mines are ready and they produce enough to ensure self sufficiency. We begin the construction of the two power plants.

I order the construction of our first aircraft fabrication facility, it will take sime time to get finished. As soon as it is built, a new one will be ordered, and again until we have a total of 4 aircraft fabrication facilities. The fith slot will be fill with a missile fab.
Also the construction of a second land fabrication facility is ordered. We will repeat until the 5th one is built.


April 2020

The build up continues, but it has consequences in our economy and not all are good. The problem with getting that much money in a few days and beginning our for normal standards modest, but for our low populated country, very ambitious construction plans is that two important economic aspects hit really hard.

I am refering to the inflation and the unemployment. The first one just skyrocket without remorse coming to the 75,8% in early April :o . The second ones drop to 1% and even lower during this month. The message is clear: We just don't have enough people in our country to sustain that growth. Even by having a positive inmigration of about 100.000 and about 25% more births than deaths. It all just happened very fast, in a few months, and our country and its economy almost can't follow.

The good news is that, at the same time, our GDP/c has increased to 17.691 $, about eight times higher than in january. This makes our people very happy and we have a support of 51%. A nice hint to all of you, fellow brothers in leadership, who are having problems with people support in their countries.

But, let us not forget the message we are receiving: our country will not be able to sustain much more build ups. That means also in the military branch. At the moment our manpower reserves are low, a bit above 150.000, and as soon as our army gets build, there will be not much left, and we must always remember that a war causes casualties that must be replaced.

Well, it seems we can't just continue our build up over several years and then begin our expansion. It seems clear that the most important resource for our future is population. We need more people. Only with enough population we will be able to grow. What shall we do? Our military forces number not even 50 units at the moment. How to do WC with such numbers?

Hmmm... what we need is a plan, a cunning plan that will allow us to fulfill our destiny...

Phase 4: Preparing the heroic 50

We need a plan that will allow us to begin our WC even with this population and economic handicaps. Fortunately, i think, i have one.

First, we need a small but highly motivated invasion force: we set our goal to build 50 units that will make this invasion force. They will be mainly APC, a few Tanks, some heavy artillery, a few land supply transports and AA and a small airforce, whose objective will be to support the invasion force with air-ground missiles and to keep enemy airforces from attacking our heroes.

Second, we need a victim. Who should we attack? At the moment we have borders with three countries, Russia and China, as well, Kazakhstan that has conquered a small part of China to the west. This give us an opportunity in my opinion. Both Russia and Kazakhstan are at war with China. Kazakhstan is attacking in the west (marked with a circle and number 1), Russia is defending in the east (marked with a circle and number 2). Interesting for our strategy is that our common border with China is almost all semi-desert with no cities or facilities. There is a single road that connect both countries to the south (marked with a circle and number 3).

We could use the east and west fronts to our advantage, letting them handle the chinese forces. We could concentrate our future mighty 50 units army in the road to the south and advance towards their existing cities, conquer them and get that way the strongly needed population push.
We could keep an eye at our desert border and send our airforces there if needed to destroy any units that try to come through the long empty border. We could just hold small groups of 2-3 land units in the east, west and central areas to counter any attacks that could come from here, through i suspect that the chinese are quite busy fighting Russia and Kazakhstan to send attack forces in these areas, even more if i don't attack and touch our common borders in these areas.
Well, it could work. This could be an objective a small invasion force can achieve. Once we get more pop we can build more units and slowly, but steadly enlarge the front.

It will not be easy, though, the chinese forces overwhelm us in numbers, airforce and probably long range artillery. Good. We need heroes, thats it. Our heroic 50.

Ok, lets prepare us for it.

It takes us one year to build the heroic 50 plus some airforce support. Yes, one year. During this time several news from the world have arrived:

20th Jun 2020 North Korea is conquered by South Korea

3th Jul 2020 Israel is conquered by Jordan

28th Aug 2020 Djibouti is conquered by Ethiopia

7th Oct 2020 Sierra Leone is conquered by Guinea

17th Oct 2020 Belarus is conquered by Ukranie

19th Dic 2020 Liberia is conquered by Guinea

7th Feb 2021 Ghana is conquered by Burkina Faso


But, now, before declaring war, let us review our invasion force and show you our attack plan.

The area we are about to attack belong to the chinese province of South Mongolia. Let us have a closer look at the area.

You can see the south road i mentioned before as well as our heroic 50 ready for battle. The marked circles are numbered by the order i intend to capture, with the exception of number 5 wich is Beijing, the capital, for the moment not in part of our offensive. Following the numbers you see:

1. The city of Xilin Hot with 97k people. We will try to capture it first with a small contingent, while the bulk of the forces advance along the south road. The conquest of this city will allow us to protect our east flank from enemy counteroffensives.

2. The city of Jinning with 250k people. It is the "door" that enables the travel between the Beijing area and our area of attack. It must be taken to ensure our advance to the west and also to stop any reinforcements that could come from the numerous fabs and barracks to the south.

3. Includes the city of Hohhot with 750k people (capital of this province) as well as a military complex with 2 land fabs, 1 air fab, 1 research center, 1 airfield and 1 barrack.
This will the strongest and most difficult area to conquer. I expect heavy casualties here, but i hope our population will have increased to 2 or 3 times by them and we will be able to support these casualties.

4. The city of Bautou with over 1 Mill people and several production facilities. The conquest of this city will prevent any counter attacks from the west, letting us with a strong enough position all over the line that will ensure this conquest is definitive.

5. The capital of China, Beijing, with many Metropolis around it as well as heavy populated inlands. Many fabs and barracks are around the capital and it is near enough our front to be sure that there will be many reinforcements coming from this area. Fortunately China is in a Total War with almost all neighbours, so i expect that the units they can spare to send against us can be defeated by our glorious heroic 50.


Ok, now lets take a closer look at our heroic 50: the invasion force of South Mongolia.

A front line of 6 stacks from 3 APC+Tank, and +Rec in half of them. A second line of 4 stacks of 2 ART+1Supply, +1 AA in two of them, +1 ART in the middle one.
11 APC as reserves and as the main force to split towards objective 1.
These forces will be supported by 3 F-35c squadrons, as well as 3 air supply squadrons.
(They are 53 in total, but who cares...)

Well, this doesn't look very impresive, does it?

But they are high motivated. They are the chosen ones. The ones that will start our glorious path of conquest. They can't be defeated. They are heroes. And their war cry will make the enemies tremble under the Wrath of the Mongols: THIS IS SOUTH MONGOLIAAAA....

On 12 May 2021 war is declared on China. So it begins.

Mission: THIS IS SOUTH MONGOLIAAAA....

Our forces advance inmediately along the south road and enter chinese territory. We will advance slowly towards our first objectives, letting the chinese forces come to us. Our front line, backed with the artillery and F-35c should ensure that we kill as many chinese units as possible. At the same time i keep an eye on the rest of our territory to detect any unwanted chinese advances. For now everything seems quite and only single chinese units enter the wild steppes, getting fast without supply.

On 24th May we arrive at the point where a small force have to be dispatched against objective 1, while the rest hold the line along the road. The casualties so far show 22 chinese units killed for none of ours, though 1651 mongol soldiers have already fallen.

On 10th June the city of Xilin Hot is conquered and several battles that take place to keep that flank on our side, defeating about 20 enemy APCs and Tanks that try to reclaim the city.

On 1st July our forces are near the second objective. I don't want to bombard the city too much, we need the people, so i order a total assault.

On 7th July the city of Jinning falls, and we secure the surroundings. It wasn't easy to take the city, many reinforcements keep coming from the south, while the fearce chinese long range artillery hammered my units from the west. Several air battles against the very numerous chinese airforce took place, we manage to cause them high losses and they withdraw, but our F-35c are all also damage and repairing now.
I put my artillery to bombard back the enemy forces to the west.

The losses so far: 83 chinese units and 1 on our side, total casualties of 7,2 thousand mongols.
But, our first two objectives have been taken. Even more important: our population has grown to 5,5 Mill.

And now we come to the difficult part of our plan. We must storm this military facility, but it is full with units and they get reinforcements from the west and also partially from the south. At the same time we have no airforce support right now, and many of our units are at half or less their strengh. There is no other choice at the moment then to dig in and let the artillery on both sides reign the battlefield for some days. I expect some reinforcement soon, so we will continue the assault as soon as we can.

30th July, the front seems more or less the same, but fierce battles have taken place. I have ordered several times partial assaults to eliminate the very dangerous chinese long range artillery and AA units. These were hit and run tactics. But they have greatly reduce the number of active units arround the facility.
Casualties have increased on both sides: 123 chines units vs. 5 on our side, over 14 thousand man.

Still, the defenses are too strong for our army. I order another month of hit and run tactics, while repairing our units.

27th August, the final assault is ordered. Our assault force isn't very numerous and the fight is fierce and bloody again. But at the end of the day the military complex is in our hands and the few surviving chinese units flee the battlefield. Our third and most difficult objective have been taken. The casualties numbers show how bloody this was: 215 chines units and 15 on our side have been killed, that is 132 chines units and 14 mongol units have fallen in and around this military complex. Long live our mongol heroes.

But, the objective is ours. With the conquest of the military complex and nearby facilities, the continuous two months long bombardment is over at last and our men enjoy it. Our forces need some resting before taking the fourth and last objective.

On 12th September 2021 the assault of the last objective is ordered. On 14th September the big city of Bautou and several production facilities are in our hands.

The population of Mongolia now is over 9 Mill people, we have conquered a military complex with 2 land fabs and 1 aircraft fab, as well as a new research center.
The following production facilites have been also taken: 8 coal mines, 1 iron mine, 7 Power Coal stations, 1 water works, 1 industrial and 2 consumer industries. They all will add a significant push to our economy, but first they must be repaired.
During this offensive i ordered also the construction of a new military facility in Mongolia and added 1 land fabrication to it. A new missile fab will be added now, we are always in need of missiles.

With this small part of South Mongolia in our hands i order to stop all offensives and to begin to fortify the line against the counter offensives of the chinese Army, which are already attacking from the south. Facilities and units mus be also repaired.

While defending against the chinese attacks and waiting for the repairs to take place i begin to study the map again.
Because the new question is already there: And, what now?
