Hey everyone, this is my first AAR, so it'll be a bit of a learning experience for me. The game that I am showing wasn't originally intended to be for an AAR. I didn't decide on it until i was a year a few months in. I'll have pictures for the next post.

I am playing Ruges' mod on default settings as Canada.

I'll give a summary of what has happened so far:

Game start. I decided my goal would be to end the domination of the evil American Empire, and anyone else who stands in my way. Obviously not an easy task, so I'd a while to build up, seeing as Canada has jack-all for reserves and military hardware and a massively long border.

There are, however, brights points too. Canada starts with 7 research centres, compared to Japan's 5 and France's 4, both of which are ahead in technological level. We also start allied with the Americans and British, and have 8-3-3-0 in terms on fabrication facilities. Our GDP/c is easily within the top 10 in the world, and with 33m people, makes us the highest ranked major economy on the GDP/c scale. Not a bad start overall.

January.1/2020

The Prime Minister has mandated that Canada needs to prepare itself for any eventual conflict with the United States and their minions. Until then, we will continue to pretend to be good minions ourselves. We will maintain at least decent relations with our traditional allies and ally with as many of them as possible.

After the great Debt defaults of 2019, when the entire world erased all national debts, our economy and treasury have benefited. Taxes are low, and social spending and research spending have risen dramatically. Now military spending will too. Military funding doubled in January 2020 in an effort to attract new recruits and bolster our armed forces. We'll get there.

January

World War 3 officially starts, with Russia invading Georgia and Finland. Poland, Ukraine, Norway, UK, France, Germany, and all the other Euro countries come to their aid. Belarus supported Russia and the two allies have made significant gains into Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Turkey, and the Baltic states. Estonia and Latvia were crushed by the Russian steamroller, although somehow Lithuania has clung on against all odds, isolated from their allies and cut of from the sea by hostile territory.

Apparently, the Serbs felt secure in their Russian connections, because they went after Bosnia. That move triggered all the Balkan states to declare war on Serbia, and on July.4, Romanian troops entered Belgrade and Serbia was divided between each bordering state.

China of course loves everyone. And within days moved to invade Mongolia. Surprisingly, Russia did at the same time, and the two powers divided Mongolia between them fairly evenly, with Russia capturing Ulan-Bataar, the capital. All of south-east Asia, Taiwan, SK, and Kazakhstan entered the war on the Mongol's side, but to no avail. Now however, the Chinese behemoth is at war on 5 fronts, and unable to make much headway.

India attacks Pakistan and China, while Bangladesh and Myanmar mix it up.

South Korea and North Korea come to blows as well, with Japan supporting SK. Russia and China come to aid their defacto ally NK.

February

South America, Africa, and the Mid-East dissolve into a complete mess or interlocking wars and alliances. Conflicts include:

-Egypt vs Libya, Sudan
-Israel, Turkey vs Iran, Lebanon, Syria
-Saudi Arabia, Iraq vs Iran
-Azerbaijan vs Armenia
-Sudan vs most of Africa
-Ethiopia vs Somalia, Sudan
-South Africa vs all neighbours
-Botswana vs most of Africa. South Africa seems to be its protector.
-Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Cote d'Ivoir vs Mali, Mauretania, Guinea
-Brazil vs Venezuela, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru
-Venezuela vs Colombia, Suriname, Brazil

In North America, Canada looked on in sympathy as Mexico and Cuba are ripped apart by the USA. At the time however, we were just not able to help them except financially. Mexico is overrun on June.22/2020 by large armoured forces supported by heavy bombing. The large Mexican garrisons were only able to delay the inevitable. Cuba lasted until September.18, but only because it was an island. Massive American landings, after several months of continuous missile bombardment, just to the south and west of Havana, made short work of the capital and the country capitulated within 3 days.

With our logical geographic allies no longer, we look on in fear at the American beast to our south, with a population of over 430m, 5.5m active troops, and a full treasury, we seem to be in a poor position to do anything about it.

By year's end, WW3 is in full swing, as fully 2/3 of the nations of the world are at war with someone. 2020 for Canada was marked by rapid Military expansion, including real units, hardware, fabrications, and many new airports, supply depots, sea ports, and barracks were built. Taxes were lowered progressively to raise domestic demand. Several new ore mines, and some new hydro dams and alternative power plants were completed. Three new military goods factories were built. On top of that, research progressed at full speed. On top of many new transportation and scientific technologies, we now have new missile designs which are being produced by our military industries. Using our connections with our allies, especially France and the UK, we acquired billions worth in new technologies, including the UK's Challenger III tanks, and a French AA SAM design that can hit American high-altitude bombers. Overall, not a bad year.

Here is a timeline of the eliminated nations:
Jan.8/2020: Georgia Republic
Jan.17/2020: Lebanon
Feb.3/2020: Swaziland
Mar.26/2020: Latvia
Mar.31/2020: Lesotho
Apr.23/2020: Mongolia
May.4/2020: Kyrgyzstan
Jun.22/2020: Mexico
Jul.4/2020: Serbia
July.7/2020: Zimbabwe
Sept.18/2020: Cuba
Oct.20/2020: Sierra Leone
Dec.25/2020: Estonia
Feb.4/2021: Zambia
Apr.5/2021: Liberia
May.30/2021: Armenia

Getting into 2021 now.

The wars around the world continue, but with few major developments. Our economy and research continue to move along nicely, with the treasury filling up. These screenies are of July.1/2021 from each theatre of war. I'll have each related comment below the screenie.

Image
As you can see Russia has eliminated Latvia and Estonia. Somehow Lithuania continues to survive. Belarus and Russia have stalled just outside of Kyiv, so hopefully they won't get any further. The frontlines in Poland and Finland keep seesawing back and forth with neither side able to make a decisive breakthrough. Belarus is at war with all of Europe except Russia.

Image
Here's Korea. SK decimated NK with an 11 to 1 K/D ratio and cut the country in half. I guess China had other plans though, since they promptly retook NK land and started moving towards the sea. They attempted a seaborne invasion just the west of Seoul in April, but were pushed back into the sea within days.

Image
Here we have a pretty standard view of India & co. Surprisingly, China is pushing a bit into Assam province in India's east.

Image
Everyone loves each other in the mid-east. Oh yes. Israel and Turkey have a de-facto alliance against Iran, Syria, and formerly Lebanon. The Turks were doing well against Iran, but when Russia came in, they collapsed and the Russians are slowly pushing towards Ankara. We've been giving the Turks goods of all kinds and money, but I fear that it is only a matter of time. Meanwhile Israel and Egypt have been at war since early 2021. Iraq and SA are allied, and the Saudi's have been using Iraq as a shield against Iran and base to launch attacks. They have also occupied Iran's offshore oil platforms. And in the north, Azerbaijan finished off Armenia, but remains at DEFCON 2, surrounded as they are by Russia and Iran.

Image
And this, well this is just slightly scary. Here is a monster in the making if I ever saw one. Certainly would not want to be in Botswana's position. South Africa being at war with it's neighbours = uber pwnage. No more need be said.

Image
Last but not least, we have here the USA. Our southern neighbour... One thing that does encourage me however is that the Americans must really like to be in debt. They are the wealthiest nation on Earth, but somehow, that just doesn't cut it. They've doubled their build cap in land and air, which has given me 90% CB and rising. Canada remains their only "ally".
