Minister makes a product purchase with product locked

Post by Balthagor »

I felt this one needed a bit of explaining. This come up when resolving some of the autopricing issues. (pre-update 5 this will occur much more when autopricing is on, post update 5 autopricing does not cause this at all)

Certain ministers or ministers with certain priorities may make a product purchase or decrease a selling quantity even with the product locked if they determine that you are about to run critically short. This was intended to stop players from accidentally selling off their entire stock of uranium thus causing a power shortage the next day.

We've discussed the issue and are still confident it is the right move to keep novice players from screwing their economy. If you are an experienced player and micromanaging your products then you are unlikely to have many priorities. If you remove all priorities and switch ministers it should be simple to keep the department in your control.

It would be more simpler when a minister is never ever allowed to dive into the red figures.....

Debt.....

If you have a 100 mil to spend .... why is a minister allowed to buy for
500 mil.... and going for 400 mil into red... :-?

George already explained this as a oddity...... :-?

So..... destroying a economy is a oddity..... :o

Hmmm.. to be honest i don't see why this is OT... (but it's probably me.. )
If you're talking about a feature that isn't working as it should be it looks
for me more as a bug.And placing your topic in the bug list would be the right place.

But i will shutup... before this becomes really OT....

This is not a bug, it is intentional. This is a case where the decision was for the minitser to override, even if locked, to avoid the player having shortages.
