AI ships run out of fuel

Post by delevero »

Supremeruler GC 2020 version 7

Along the East coast of USA/Canada there is a problem.
USA is at war with Mexico and somehow many of the ships from US that travel south have run out of fuel and are stuck in international wather along the East coast of Florida.
They have all run out of fuel, maybe becourse some of them were on patrols els were and then was called home.

A small suggestion.
Maybe give the AI ships that run on fuel a script that after 5 minutes fill them up but direct them to national or ally waters to refuel before continue previous orders.

One last suggestion..:

It would be nice when you group your "ships" into a taskforce that they all travel with the same speed as a group that way destroyers and aircaft carriers travel together to their destination and can better defend them self. The same thing would be nice when talking ground units.

You sure those ships are out of supply? The AI likes to send its ships into international waters to just sit there and scout. select one of your ships. and then move to have it escort the ship. When you hover your mouse over the ship after the escort order you can see how much supply it has left.

Added “Move at Common Speed” order modifier (hotkey “Ctrl” when issuing orders
That should have made it into the tips of the day huh Balth? haha

Hi thank you for the tips.

I have just tried again to find out if there are fuel or not.
It seem that I am wrong, they do have fuel.

I tried to hold left CTRL and click a ship and then i could see the specs of the ship and fuel ect. and yes they had fuel.

- But my own ships run out of fuel even when the AI is in control of them.
Im playing as denmark and im at war with mexico ( im an allied to us and they were attacked ) so the AI send my warships to USA but they ran out of fuel ½ way there.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, it just was strange that they sit there and when i move my transport ship in the near they start moving, but if i do the same thing with a warship nothing happens.

Well "problem" solved.

This is because your 'transport ship' (of whatever type - Civilian Cargo, AO, or other types - has a Cargo capacity and there is no difference in the game regards wet fuel (fuel oil) and dry cargo. So, when it enters the same hex as your warship, it will transfer
fuel until it fills the warship(s) or runs out of its own cargo.

Before you sail from Denmark, you should form a Battle Group (task force) that includes your warships and at least one transport - tanker type ship, as if it is early in the game, Denmark's Niels Juel (Type KV 72) frigates (or Patrol Ships) and the Thetis (Stanflex 2000) ships doe not have range to cross the Atlantic and into Caribbean. Whatever the warships, you should seriously take with the group one or two tankers.
