Maintenance&Training and Preparedness costs skyrocketing.

Post by madjack »

The problem is, I have close to 900 units (air, land, sea) and had a Maintenance&Training cost of 200m$ a day (all units in reserve, playing as moscow.)

After saving and reloading the same game, I start the clock, and after midnight - surprise: Maintenance&Training cost is now over 1000m$ a day. I can't fix it no matter what I do (before or after the increase)..

Shall I send the savegame?

I tested out and found out what's been triggering this bug. Very funny.

Plesetsk Cosmodrome -
Disabling all the facilities (orbital launch pad, sat control facility and aerospace fab) in that hex..

Although it was ok when I disabled and even scrapped the same facilities in Israel's territory. Maybe disabling the last owned facs is causing this issue.

Well, I've been checking but I found out other actions may trigger this too. Like disabling fabrications and sending units into reserves. I believe the problem may not be related to facilities but rather to some kind of miscalculation of maintenance costs, like calculating the units as deployed. (Maintenance costs still increase when I deploy units though)..

Still doing some tests..

So from the savegame, I should enable the cosmodrome and watch maintenance costs a few days, then disable and watch a few days?

i'm not sure that enabling the cosmodrome back would prevent the issue from happening. and just one day is enough.

i found out it's not related only to cosmodrome, applies to all fabs..

it just drove me crazy.. couldn't really find what's causing it. but everytime when I try to minimize my military spending by sending EVERYONE into reserves and deactivating ALL fabs, maintenance costs just change from 150-200m $ to over 1000m $.

ok. but i did some more tests you might want to hear about.

it's not a problem with my current game. i just started a new game with italy, starting maintenance cost is 18m $. locked everything (minister & goods), not producing anything, not deployed anything. just disabled all fabs. and..

maintenance&training costs are now 68m $. and enabling fabs from now on just pushes the costs higher (even over 100m $).

so i guess the major issue is this.

EDiT: Well, same thing happened when i loaded an earlier save and didn't disable any fabs. this is so weird.

I'm suspecting it's related to the inventory of missiles in reserves...

still investigating...

have you been able to find anything else about this? i'm still more than curious to find out what the actual issue is. i think this may be the hardest one to troubleshoot, since I was unable to relate it to any kind of a logical, single "trigger".. but i'll check with the missiles when i have the time.

best of luck btw.

interresting comment balth, i had, at the time of my ss in other post, had been mass building the simple free-fall bombs and had @ 600k of them in stock. so perhaps your on the right path. hope this helps :-)

Well, missiles are not the only reason but they are about 90% of the increase in cost it seems. We'll investigate further...

just tested - you're definitely correct.

for everyone who might have experienced this issue:
i was able to reduce the maint. costs from over 1000m$ back to about 150m$ by scrapping all the missiles..

thanks for the nice support!
