Modifying International Relations

What is the world like in 2020? What are the different ways to play? How can I create my own futuristic scenario and country groupings?

Modifying International Relations

Post by Benjaminvallen1 »

This is a continuation of a discussion from the American Civil War 2020 forum post. Balth requested a new topic to discuss it, so here it is.

How can we modify relations between countries? Specifically, how can we increase international volatility in the Confederate States mod scenario?
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

This can be done in several places.

First we will look at the .CVP. in this line you will find a line that says:

Code: Select all

influence 8, 5, 22, 25
influenceval 0.5, 0.3, -0.7, -0.7
I happen to be using Madrid in this example. So the first line we have is Influence. These numbers coralate to http://www.supremewiki.com/index.php/Sp ... nce_SR2020
So 8 would be Economy - Africa, 5 would be Culture and Heritage,.........

Then you have the Influence values below. The first number here coralates to the first number of influence. the secound number here coralates to the secound influence numbers.

So this all means Madric will have increase of .5 influence with those who value a strong economy in Africa (or loose them with other who dont value it).. It will loose .7 influence with nations that value culture and heritage (or gain them with other who dislike it).

Then we also have a spot in the .csv where we can adjust relations.

Code: Select all

&&CVPREL,  2601   //
2499, ,0.2,0.19,
2503, ,0.15,0.3,
1999,90,0.4,0.22,
2999, ,-0.2,-0.3,0.18
Here we have region 2601 (Mexico). The next line 2499 means the region they will have relations with. The first spot is for treaties, but the treaty ID number in this spot., Secound is civilian relations. Third is diplo relations and fourth is CB.

So the above would mean:
Mexico has:
.2 beter civil and .19 beter diplo relations with canada.
.15 better civil, and .03 beter diplo relations with Dom republic.
an embasy, .4 better civil, .22 better diplo relations with China.
.2 worse civil, .3 worse diplo, .18 CB with the US.

And finaly you have the option to write events for relations to happen.
1300,525600,14,,101,102,TRUE,FALSE,TRUE,TRUE,FALSE,-0.5,-0.5,,1,,,,,
In that example anywhere between 1 day afte the game starts and 1 year after the game starts, Egypt and libya are going to loose .5 civil and diplo relations with each other.

while we are on the subject of spheres of influence. there are a couple questions that I have

•12 Have
•13 Have Not - Africa
•14 Have Not - Asia
•15 Have Not - China
•16 Have Not - Europe
•17 Have Not - Russia
•18 Have Not - South America
•19 Have Not - US

What does have mean? have they what?
And what does have not mean? not conqured, not at war, no occupying territitory, ally.....?

•44 Technology Advancement
Say I have -0.5 for half of the nations, and then .5 for the other half. Does this mean the first half is going to hate the secound half. Or does this mean the first half is going to hate anyone that advances in tech, while the secound half is going to like anyone that advances in tech? Thus being directly related to a countries tech level. Or is it mearly the first half likes countries that dislike tech and the secound half like countries that like tech?

@Benjaminvallen1: Since Ruges posted some good information here and we're drifting into the influence/CVP data in this thread, I'll post more on that here.

If you'd like to know more about editing the .CSV file for relation overrides, I'm doing a walkthrough with ZT Strike using his mod. I don't want to use the Confederated States mod because Hullu may still be working on that one and has done a lot of work already. ZT Strike's mod doesn't have a .CSV file yet so it's a good place to start.

Mod Walkthrough: CSV Relations overrides

@Ruges: I'll have a bit more info on these soon...

I think that's correct. It's been 10+ years since we set up much of this data. And it's important to understand, there is no code behind each of these influences, they only get compared to each other. You could call it Value_G if you wanted. Everyone with A Value_G greater than zero would dislike everyone with a Value_G less than zero. It just creates positions of relativity.
