Captured water hexes

Hello,

Mexico declared war on the U.S.A., peace was signed immediately. However they did send a naval unit up the California coast. This caused those hexes to become Mexican. I am in the very ridiculous position of not being able to deploy any naval assets from San Diego because the ocean is considered part of Mexico.

Since they still hate me, and will not sign a passage treaty, any ideas, short of declaring war on them, which I do not want to do, on a way to fix this? It is a tad over the top.

Well, you should have enough cash to bribe your way back into their good graces(should be able to for 200bil at max,you got 400b), than get the transit treaty.

But you'll still have that odd issue of them owning the waters right outside your base.

A peace treaty that reset borders would solve this issue.And a peace treaty that could be created from a list of different elements would be a very nice addition to the game.But i dont think we'll get them anytime soon .

I agree I can finangle the system to get what I want, but thats not what I want to do.

This should never happen in the first place. My hope was BG would post here, this is indeed lunacy and not supposed to happen, we will fix it.

Why not? There might be times when I would declare war on a country just to block the seaports like this. The only problem I see here is you accepted peace when your port was blocked. You should have taken that area back before you went for peace.

Yep, you are correct, its my fault.

This absolutely makes since from any standpoint. I will now go resign my position for allowing this to happen.

A peace treaty that resets borders i still think is whats needed here.Making the peace treaty a negotiation like some other games do,allowing alittle horse trading and stipulations to be added would be very nice and offer an easy way to avoid this.

shouldn't border creep and supply take care of this issue over time? I had something similar happen to me and I declared war to regain control. And even though I had been the defender initially and still had good standing around the world as soon as I sent the DOW everyone else in the world DOWed me and booted me out of the UN.

Only if at war.Creep wont take land from a neutral or ally.

make sure when u settle peace u inspect the borders. Oh and try to have numerous coastal bases for ships that said a good way to halt an enemy is to capture their coastline then go for peace
