[SOLVED]Transporting is slow!

Post by Trppmdm »

So I have a problem!
The problem is that when I play Cuban cigars I can't transport them fast. It actually works, but I need to press one time for one unit.
Really I need to know how to transport fast to Haiti because I can't wait 100 clicks for 100 units.
Help!

Edit: Looks like the problem is that I forgot about cargo capacity.

This topic should be over in the military section.

Now I have not played the Cuban cigars scenario so I am not sure what you are supposed tobe doing. But I do know a bit about transporting units. First off what sort of transport unit do you have? Air or Sea? how much weight can it hual? How heavy are the units you are trying to transport? Are you tranporting into a warzone or a pieceful spot? If a warzone, and you are going an airborne assualt are the units air dropable or will you need to secure an airport first? have you taken care of any anti air in the region or you going to accept the losses? If it is going to be an amphib assualt is the ship capable of beach landings or will you need to drop them off at a port? Have you destroyed the enemy ships in the area before you risk you transport ships loaded with units from being attacked? Might even want some AA there to keep planes from attacking your ships.

So all that needs tobe considered before transporting the units. Now there is like 3 or 4 ways to acualy move your units. The most hands free (although not as effective). is to select all your units you want transported. then right click the spot you want them transported to and select sea transport. (as long as the ships are under AI control). your units will move to the nearest dock and the ships will move to the dock and units will load onto the ships and transport to the spot you told them too. with the ships repeating this until all the units have been tranported. I like the above method when it is allot of units scattered and they are moving in peacful waters to a peaceful location. (even so I still usualy have a warship on escort for the transport).

Although my personal preference for transporting units is to move all the units I want to transport to the docks. These units are usualy in stacks of 7 with each stack in its own battlegroup. I then move the tranports next to the docks. and then order a battle group of units to load into each transport unit. I then order the transport units to move a bit off shore of the spot I want to attack. Warships are usualy already on the path at this time to destintion clearing any enemy ships. I also have AWACS up patroling the path making sure no suprizes. With warships and air units clearing the land I plan to unload the units. Once everything is in place and the land is celar I then order the transport units to offload at the spot I want them too. (which should be clear). This is a good method for transporting units into hostal spots. you have direct control over all of them. you can keep them bunched up and easier to protect. Although it does require allot more management and also requires a larger fleet.

There are also 2 other ways of transporting units. And you can use any combonation to transport them.
