When and how the AI does naval invasions seems to be completely random and changes from game to game for me. In some games EVERY nation just about will try and do a naval invasion, in some no nations will.

In some I have the US invading Cuba within a month of declaring war while in others they take several years to do so.

Well, I'm still seeing zero transport movement
But tbh, it seems the AI coding that handles Naval units has just packed its bags and gone on holiday
Hardly any naval units are moved or being used

Hell, I'm looking 1 Chinese frigate sitting a couple of hexes away from a couple of South Korean Patrol boats, and they are just sitting there ignoring each other, and since patrol boats are extremely weak, that Chinese frigate could simply take them out with ease

Land Unit use seem to be fine
Air units are still abit dodgy (ie. going closer to targets than they have too)
Since I'm using Ruges Mod, Missiles are flying all over the place anyway

But only 1% of the worlds naval combat units are actually doing anyway (and every nation is at war with someone)
They will only take on enemies who accidentally go into their weapons range

And I've yet to even see a transport ship move at all
It's not a case of them organizing either, they just aren't doing anything at all

And just for clarification, I've taken fog of war off so I can see everything in the world, so I can see that they simply aren't doing anything

Just remember that it effects the AI as well. The AI can see everything in the world now too.

Is it out of supplies or low on supplies ? Use the land tab and click on that hex and then look in the middle box to get that info.
If it says idle it just may be in AI assigned position. Which means its not going to move until the AI needs it to respond to an incursion along the coast somewhere.

I know it affects the AI as well :P

And no, all these stationary AI naval units are fully supplied

Using Hullas Mod, I've just seen an AI invasion attempt, with Taiwan trying to land in China
However, they forgot to give these 20-ish transport ships [all with land forces inside] any form of escort
Less than one minute later, all but 6 are dead without them even getting in Chinese waters

War just declared, and within a day, Taiwan has over 18,000 dead just on this blunder

Of course, I'm still waiting for the US to invade Cuba 14 months after DOW

Edit: and now the rest are dead, they got their escort, but the escort decided to sit outside a chinese city while the transport went head first into another Chinese fleet
Are these Green Peace in disguise or something?

Just wanted to comment on one landing I saw recently,
The background:

Playing as Oklahoma in a Shattered World Campaign, High Volitility Fog of War on, ver 6.7.63 with Ruges AI params file. As Oklahoma was at war with various Canandian regions, Mexico and had already taken Colorado and New Mexico. Instead of going thru Texas and jumbling up the map I decided to take Mexico from the South and Airdropped in the Yucatan penisula. After capturing all of it and advancing as far North as San Anres Tuxtla across to the Naval base at Salina Cruz. I stopped there since I was using single ground unit to garrison every captured city and complex and basically needed more units for another offensive. While I was waiting there......

NOVA SCOTIA landed on the Yucatan Penisula....near Merida which happen to be the my initial invasion spot. I did manage to repel them but it they did make it difficult since they brought in enough units that made me commit my entire defensive reserve from the Mexican front and they also brought with them AD which kept my small airforce at a distance. This happened less than 2 years into the game, not really sure how long I was at war with Nova Scotia but I was only on the Penisula for about 2 months.

The only ships I saw were two transports that I sunk , no escorts. Usually though I notice that once ships make a landing they leave the area so may have been a few more transports that I didnt see since the invasion took me by complete surprise and didnt even know it happened until I got the email about a base under attack, by then the unit in Progresso was nearly destroyed.

I just perpetrated a similar massacre on the Japanese. They were organizing a MASSIVE invasion force outside Tokyo to try and retake the northern island. Strangely, they'd been building up before my Airborne Division seized the island. Anyway, I raided them with two submarine wolfpacks to assess their strength, then made a missile strike with a full carrier battlegroup. 28,000 dead Japanese in two days.

I will try see if I can ad some escorts to the transport fleets. I've seen China try to land units in Taiwan and get slaughtered for it and similar elsewhere. Though I've seen the US making a successful Landing on North Korea(but got beaten of after a weeks fighting) and I have also similarly seen Russia go for Canada. But both without escorts.

Don't I know that one
Saw some Ally filled transports without fuel
So I kindly sent over some of my empty transports to fill them up so they could carry on to their target...
Once fueled, they then did a 360 and went back home???

So to make up for me wasting my time, I decided to helo some special forces into their target and have the city with an nice airfield too myself lol
Of course, Island hopping with my special forces aboard helos is being a nice pastime for me lol

they turned back because once i unit is low on fuel or runs out it then sets a path towards the nearest base, rather like planes do.

I understand that
But I think it better, that when a naval or land unit is completely out of supply, it clears its orders until you has enough supply to move again, then takes new ones
Was very pointless too do what it did tbh

They do indeed
Land Transports refuel Land Units
Naval Transports refuel Naval Units
Air Transports refuel Land Units
And some Air Transport can refuel certain Air Units
