Is it still possible to speed up research on one or more topics by halting research on all other topics?

It seems to me that such concentration of research was possible in SR2010, but with this version, it is difficult to determine.

I want to research a line of Laser-armed infantry ASAP and I am halting all other research besides that on these few infantry units.

Will this be effective?

not sure but i think that if you have more active research centers open than the number of techs you are researching you get faster provided you have over 100% in efficiency

I dont recall seeing any speed improvment by using that method. But who knows it might work. Having your research efficency spending at 200% is nice. Make sure you have researched all the efficiceny techs as well before the laser inf.

No, you can't concentrate research. You're correct that the system was changed for SR2020.

If I may say so, the research system in SR2020 is vastly better than SR2010.
