Think of it like the Earth is filled with caverns...like swiss cheese. If Switzerland and Venezuela were allied, and at war with all of Europe, they could still conduct trade (via these tunnels). It is not completely realistic, but it keeps the logistics side of trade from taking over the game.

Excuse me, but it is not realistic/not interestingly. The control communications will give more strategic opportunities.
If simply to receive resources in the market, the state will not have stimulus to supervise any region, the geopolitic balance will be broken, and the control roads will lose any sense.

While it is not entirely realistic, it is the best solution we can create in the model we have. The complexity required to make the types of connections your suggesting would make the game far to complicated. I'm moving on to other discussions, I can only say "no pipelines" so many times...

I will take one more shot at it.

Amires,

Human beings are a very very very resourceful bunch. The way I have always looked at Supreme Ruler 2010 is this. Until I control the sources of natural resources like oil, I will never be able to control what happens to those things. There has never in human history been a blockade that was 100% effective. If I do not want "country A" to sell oil to "country B", then I swoop in and conquer "country A" (and probably "country B" just for good measure :P). I do not spend time, effort, resources trying to enforce a blockade or embargo... I solve the problem at the root and permanently. If you are not the sort who favors invasion and conquest, then you always have the capability of destroying the oil fields and/or power plants of those respective countries, making their "pipeline" completely useless.

If you desire a game that focuses on political threatening, trade embargoes, and preventing countries from trading energy resources, then I am sorry to say that 2010/2020 is not the game for you. That sort of political wheeling and dealing would make a fun game. But you can not fit 10 pounds of potatoes in a 5 pound sack. There is no room inside of 2010/2020 for all the details involved with the game you are describing.

You were very indulgent, I'll more not tire you with questions, thanks for all your answers. I have understood primitiveness of game for you more important, for children till 16 years. I'll listen your advice and I'll not buy game. Thanks. And once again I apologize for my English.

LOL

The thing of it is, what he is looking for would make a fun and challenging game. Perhaps he is some sort of magician who can pour a gallon of milk into a 12 ounce glass, but even I can understand why it all won't fit into one game. Perhaps he thinks the rest of 2010 was something like Age of Empires, or another full fledged real time tactics game. Personally I do not know very many "16 year olds" who could handle 2010.

Good Lord. I still have a t-shirt from a Led Zepplin concert in 1978 -- 30 years ago.

Nurse! Nurse! I could use a little fortification with my tea ... where did you hide the bottle of Old Grandad?

Well, that explains more....

In 78 ,you SHOULD have been listening to GOOD groups like E.L.O. or Little River Band, or Kansas (Two For The Show) :P

I've got a few Zepplin shirts, but I got mine in the 90's while in high school, always liked classic rock...

More power to you SGTScuba! I wasn't saying it was impossible. Amires was suggesting that 2010/2020 was designed for kids under 16 because of it's lack of pipelines. I was noting that it is hardly something that is aimed at the junior high school gaming crowd. :P

Anyway, little kids wouldn't be able to get their little heads around this game, except for one thing.....

AI SUX MAJORLY

however pipelines are a bad idea, especially at this stage, just remeber the devs are goats, not bill gates. :D

YES the only reason why people my age don't like this sort of game or me even talknig about it is not because it is too powerful for their computer, its because its too powerful for them as it involes more the pressing a few buttons to kill someone. Unfortunatly i doubt this will change when they become the future leaders of the world, so i think the Battlegoat rebellion is back on to wipe them out.

And another thing...

...I call gunners seat!

:D Bogi

I'll throw in my two cents.

Is there another game that has pipelines? and Hydro towers, etc... and also is played at the world level? and one that models the world quite accurately as Supreme Ruler does?

We have plans for future titles that may involve more features. And we even have ideas for how to add more realism into the game in future titles.

So, if you want to play SIM CITY, that's ok. You don't have the conflict... you just build stuff.

if you don't want to buy the game because of what it doesn't have... maybe people need to look more at what it does have... and could have.

Maybe someone should start by making a thread detailing Supreme Ruler gameplay and features... in relation to other games. I think I'll go do that now.
